Why are they blaming the park????? She hiked in bad conditions, knew it, then, slipped and fell to her death. It was no one’s fault besides her and her dad.

I couldn't agree more, the Park Ranger even told them there was a chance of rain and they still went up there, honestly Dad should be charged in my opinion

If it’s the park’s fault a lawyer gets 33.3% of the civil suit. (Perhaps that’s why?)

Thank you !!! Experienced hikers know chance of rain coming and cloudy conditions IS the Warning and the ranger said rain this afternoon is expected they headed out early but it takes time to get there look around and get down …. They can’t improve slippery when wet conditions …. When in doubt stay out ! Sunny and clear no chance of rain is safer weather always cloudy no way sorry that is the message they need to get out asap not ask the park to improve slippery when wet conditions

I think the cable should be removed, anchoring hardware, all of it, remove the temptation, eliminate the risk

I hiked many years & theres always a risk of that happening . I hiked Yosemite and sequoia many times. Its was possibly a poor choice of trying to make it down in the rain. Theres been times where i just waited it out. Don’t blame the park for your poor choices.

People say" she died doing what she loved" Noone wants to die"doing what they love" . Certainly not such a young person. The father seems amazingly calm and do not take any responsibility . He rather blames the park. But people are warned and there are possibilities to make the climb less dangerous but he choose not to use them

Sorry 65 and cloudy is NOT perfect hiking weather, you knew better dad, you heard the thunder, saw the dark clouds, you are the ONLY one to blame.

@@CAHOBBES definitely not good conditions and a bad decision especially given that they were both experienced hikers, but to your latter points, there was no thunder or rain or lightning that they saw or heard until they were already at the top.

The weather was fine when they set out -- afternoon t-storms are always a risk in the mountains, it's the same on Mt Whitney -- if you let the possibility of afternoon t-storms stop you, you'll never hike/climb in the mountains

Naaaah I don't believe that she was wearing new hiking shoes. I have seen a picture of her on a high mountain with running shoes!!!!! Why would you go on a mountain hike with running shoes they have very little grip. They call themselves experienced hikers??? 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Yosemite shouldn't have to do anything. It's a calculated risk when you do something like that.

People this is monsoon season for the deserts the storms will spontaneously form. Which means rain will make the hike very slippery or worse the lightning ⚡️ will grab you. This was just a tragic event where rain was not expected but people forget that monsoon season in the desert for Nevada or Arizona meaning that in the mountains is where the clouds will form to head over the desert. Rain is extremely dangerous on half dom you can easily slip or the lightning strikes the rock and cables. I’m sorry this happened…..

I'm sorry, but adventure does entail danger. This young woman paid the ultimate price for that adventure, but please, don't anyone cheapen that memory. She was a true explorer, and someone driven to reach out far. Mistakes happen to even the most experienced climbers, and the unpredictable nature of weather made this one even more so mistake prone. Others did descend safely, so even under these terrible conditions it seems the safety measures are adequate. RIP to Grace. Your spirit, and others like you, will continue to drive others to take the risks we all benefit from. 🥂

It’s the parks fault. It’s the mountains fault for being too steep, no, it the dads fault for taking his daughter where she did not need to be!

Trying to hurry down half dome to beat Mother Nature is not "doing everything right." Also a bad idea to hike anything difficult in brand new hiking shoes that you haven't tested out and broken in.

@@dollydon8547 yup. No one made them go up. If they were truly experienced hikers like he claims, they’d know this is typical California weather. They got “summit fever” and she died because of her dad’s reckless!
