Buckingham Courthouse Marker
Designed by Thomas Jefferson in 1821. Burned in 18609, Rebuilt in 1878. The exterior follows Jefferson's plan with the interior redesigned. Copy of original plan and specifications on display in courthouse. Registered in 1969 as a National and Virginia Historic Landmark. Renovated in 1976.
Brickwork around the exterior walls was said to have been laid by John Henry Garnett brickmason who married on Dec 20, 1911, Lillian Virginia Maxey.
