Ebay has been planning to buy TCGPlayer since before the pandemic so that makes sense now that public events are becoming the norm again.

I also work as an engineer I’ve been doing this for about almost 18 years now I’ve been on both the acquiree side As well as the acquisition side this is pretty much how it goes every single time sometimes they’ll say were very happy to have you guys all here usually stay on for about a year for knowledge transfer and then everyone that’s not an engineer is gone

Also an engineer... lol which is a meme at this point but ya.. this kinda makes sense though if your on the dev ops side of things you are in short supply we have been understaffed for the past 10 years just my experience.

Yeah except no one is happy with them. I stopped doing business with them years ago because they are inefficient, greedy, and nowhere near the best option.

I decided to give them a try a year or so ago, and will never deal with them again. Traded in some cards, and after like 2 weeks of having them, said "nah, we can't take these." Charged me to have them shipped back to me. I sent the same cards to Card Kingdom, who accepted them all within EX to NM within a day or receiving them. Haven't bothered with TaT since.

They must be completely mismanaged to be so horrible. If they focused on condition and customer service, they would be equal to CK or SCG. Instead they’re the laughingstock of the big retailers.

sad we're also in an age where the laws on the books are being ignored because part of what makes America america is the fact that this type of thing either can't happen or is frowned upon. America's model is meant to prevent monopolies but everyone's voted in presidents who hate everything about america for so long now we're looking at turning into a communist nation and these monopolies are going to get a real hard "wake up call" when they find out they were used like pawns for people who are eccentric in bad ways.

The U.S. has been in debt since the late 1800s, meaning power belonged to the "shareholders" in the same way a company adheres to its largest shareholders. "America" put the nails in the coffin when it started taking the money of foreign entities like what became Big Oil and Pharma. A president is nothing more than a placeholder in order to regulate liability to a single source. It's been that way since Martin Van Buren. The "United States of America" is literally a corporation. Every presidential candidate thinks they're going to change things and then they get elected and quickly realize how America actually operates. The Kennedy's used to talk about this regularly. That's why they're not exactly around anymore.

As someone who mostly buy warhammer on ebay, the recent skyrocketing of the international shipping cost just made the platform unusable. Its to a point that almost anything will cost you 20 buck of shipping, its insane.

Never had any issue with an order or return on TCGplayer go south or be difficult. What problems have you had?

what your saying is, we're either going to get better customer experience for buyers and sellers. Or we're going to get worse service for both.

@@Hitzel Everything from a lack of quality control, horrible customer service, issues with deliveries and returns, you name it. TCGPlayer is up there with AT&T and Time Warner for all-time worst customer experiences for me.

@@benjamincarter6095 That's lame. Every once in a while I have an issue but it's always been solved right away and oftentimes they just refund me even if they didn't need to.

Lots to combat here. Growth only came from the pandemic with the CCG boom. Otherwise everything has seriously dropped off and tcgplayer sales volume completely demolishes eBay in all categories. Wow a whole .03 cent savings for a totally unreliable tracked service that only tests buyers patience. Ebay's USPS rates are higher in everything over a free service like pirate ship in every aspect other than first class which is the same. Like priority and parcel select to name a couple. Okay now the fee structure. Ebay's fee structure for non top rated sellers is pretty much .002 percent better than tcgplayer. And tcgplayer high end cards (over $2000 in a transaction) is considerably much better than eBay. Still believe this will be a good thing?

That’s the one thing I’m blessed to have is a massive LGS with lots of magic product and singles. I tend to go to TCG for cards I have trouble finding copies of. Unfortunately I am moving though so I had plans to kind of rely on TCG unfortunately that may change.

@@TheCommandorks that's really great (having a massive LGS)! The closest LGS is mainly a board game seller with CCG events, but hardly any singles. Luckily there's another store about 30 mins away that has binders of cards ranging from Revised to current sets. It's so much fun rummaging through those binders to find hidden gems of cards I never knew about.

my LGS went from having a bad selection, to not even selling singles.

@@MageSkeleton That's pretty much what I'm experiencing. They (local LGS) don't have any singles in binders (or are perpetually in the "needing to organize binders" and never getting around to it - it's been close to a year now) and the card selection in the case is bare minimum and hardly ever changes. I can go a month between visits and it's the same cards with maybe 1-3 new ones. I'm not sure what everyone's experienced is with selling/trading cards to their LGS is, but mine is 50% TCG mid value for store credit and 30-33% cash. Not worth it for a player to utilize this option, so I understand why selection is so poor. I also understand the LGS has their bottom line to worry about and meet every month so they can stay open. It's a give and take relationship that every now and then I buy stuff I don't need (packs, prerelease kits, random singles) in hopes they restock stuff I can use/want or open an expensive single to trade in, but it's not my ideal situation. I want to support my LGS, but have no incentive to spend money. Trading with fellow players doesn't help the stock at the LGS either as both players walk away with what they want. Maybe a pack or two is thrown in to make up the difference, but often times this is not the case. That's why I've depended on TCGPlayer. But I'll hopefully be able to visit the other LGS a little more frequently.

draft...which is as basic and nondescript as it gets. no flash, no excitement, about as generic as you can be with 90% of contents worthless. So yeah if the set isn't full of great cards (not the variants, stuff that people can/will play) nobody will want to pay 15% MORE for the same 90% draft chaff as before, especially if the 10% is same or equal value. which is why they are at or below cost. A box of $90 EV that wizards is charging $100 for which used to be $85.
