I was 12 and my home was miserable with alcoholic violent parents. This song meant a lot to me at the time. The 80s were incredible for music and freedom. I feel so lucky I got to be young in the 80s.
So sorry you had such a bad time I hope you've found some happiness in adulthood. Bucks Fizz were pure fun as was most of the 80s - we were lucky to be young then - they were globally more positive times. Stay strong and keep listeingin to the best of the 80s - I find it a boost.
I had violent parents back then and I didn't shed a single tear when my mother died and after she had gone my father went from being violent to needing me but I have the upper hand now and he Denys any violence that he did to me I'm 56 and he is 81
Love this song. The lyrics are so creepy but the tune is pure pop and the smiley, oh-so cheerful delivery by BF couldn't be more at odds with the words!
I grew up in Belfast it was tough and hard through 70s and 80s you had to learn how to fight and win but I learned how to win and fight very quick But music was good loved back then
Takes me back , my ex long term girlfriend used to dance to this and had the same hairstyle as Jay Aston . sadly years later she passed away aged 40 from Cancer whilst married to someone else . We were very close and this great song just transports me back to those days .
Sorry for your loss. Clearly she will always be in your heart. My first real love, married someone else & I know that the day I hear he is gone (unless I go first of course) I'm going to be devastated x
Great pop song, sung well by a very pro group but the unique drumming especially at the end adds a dimension to the number that catches a connoisseur's ear. Fab.
My dad worked in Saudi Arabia and came back with this album for my sister on cassette.. watching them on top of the pops I was in love with mike nolan!😍.. I still absolutely love this song
Being a country girl, I never heard of this group till nov2019 when I just happened upon them. They are fantastic. I sure wish I had heard this years ago. I'm addicted.
Still a great, really catchy song, more than 40 years on. A real feel good tune. Better than the Eurovision song in my book. Who knows where this band could have gone but for Mike's accident. Sadly we will never know. This tune brings me back to much happier times
A world where Bucks Fizz and The Cure can both live together and prosper is a blessed world indeed! I love this, I love 'Charlotte Sometimes', I wish the cool police would stop sneering. Every musician makes someone happy, so they all have their place!
@@darrenm8526 me too. Whenever I listen to this beautiful song nowadays, it makes me cry because I remember how it was back then and I try to compare it to what's happening now. You can see that everyone in this video, from Bucks Fizz themselves to the audience, is looking happy and having fun. I wish I could go back to this happy part of my childhood.
I can't believe this song is 40yrs old , I loved this song when I was 13yrs old. When being a teenager was so much fun with no stress of social media, we were the lucky children.
Always thought Mike Nolan was gorgeous, but then so is Bobby Gee in this video, his eyes light up when he smiles, like a light bulb has has been switched on inside of him
christmas 81 first with my first love played this a lot. skip forward ten years played the "B" side none stop sobbin my stupid heart out. love Bucks Fizz ,happy days
I thing I was about 5 years old, in Denmark, looking at the Eurovision on TV, and this song popped up. It was in some kind of preview, cause this song did not come on later in the show, and I was so sad. I remember them by some pool. But the melody instantly stucked in my head. Sadly my mom could not help me with the song name, but I never forget the song. Then few years ago I just filmed me playing few notes on the piano and posted it online. And after somewhat over a year, someone actually knew what song it was, this! Finally after all these years, I can find the peace in my mind after finally have found it :)
Great song and a great time Drac Pack was on Buck's Fizz did suitable Christmas songs and three foot of snow on the ground stopped us from having to go to school on Drak Pack day.
I'm still listening to this dope Trak, excellent sounds and great voices - would be a day or night listening to this loudly on a beach sippin' on shampas with a close one loved up
Me. The biggest selling single they produced.,and you can see why. Great music arrangement and vocals. Should have been a Xmas no 1.I love listening to their music every day.
Raymond Harland They said when promoting their final single Heart of Stone on This Morning in 1988 that it was very difficult to pitch at the Christmas market cos depending how the record sells it could be a slow climb into the charts. They more or less got the timing right, Bobby said, but were #1 the week after Christmas. Cheryl added the Christmas market’s funny cos you’re up against so much other stuff. Have you seen their earlier TOTP performance of it, wearing daft costumes and Cheryl as a fairy in a harness! Followed it up with Camera too. I love ‘em.
I used to go to a bikers pub....early 80's hawkwind, deep purple, status quo, rainbow, led zeppelin, journey would be playing....and for some reason....this song....
I was 6 years old when this song came put. I used to sing it in the infants playground at break time, along with the dinner ladies and my school pals. Life was so much happier then.
heard synthwave/ retrowave is based on 80's film instrumental- background tracks and 80's video games but not chart tunes. Ariston advert/ jonathan dunn- robocop, Button Moon theme, are better
I just love this song. It’s by one of my all time favourite groups. I’ve seen them live on numerous occasions and every time they were brilliant. I still follow the new incarnation as The Fizz. Still brilliant and again have seen them live on numerous occasions too.
