If you don’t mind walking and climbing stairs, there are many more ways to go up to Buda castle and you’ll have many more moments to enjoy the spectacular views. I would recommend starting from Várkert Bazár, Clark Ádám tér, Batthyány tér or Széll Kálmán tér. When I visit the castle with friends who have never been in Budapest, I usually start at Várkert Bazár or Döbrentei tér (both from the south) because then you enter the castle via the oldest medieval remains of the castle defenses, visit the royal palace (and it’s secluded gardens) and then walk on into the castle district with the Mátyás church, Fisherman’s bastion and taste the atmosphere of the almost village like parts of this old walled fortress town. It is of course very touristy, but even though, certainly worth a visit. And there are very good restaurants and whine cellars, do try them). I would recommend reserving a day for it. If you’re able to I would recommend climbing castle hill on foot, from any direction, all those routes to the castle are fabulous, but I still prefer to go up from the southern of the castle

none. you have to walk down and take the elevator. if you want directly to the chain bridge, there’s a bus going down, take bus 16 to the direction of clark adam ter. or ride the siklo (funicular)
