Houses of this type were built as rental houses around the beginning of the 1900s. Two staircases were built in them. The main staircase, which was more accessible, was used by the owner and his family, as well as by wealthy tenants. This other is the staff and the poor tenants used.. Saint Stephen is our first Christian ruler. He is saint because he was canonized by the church. His statue is on the Fisherman's Bastion. Canonization requires some kind of miracle. In his case, his intact (mummified) right hand is a miracle. You can see this relic in St. Stephen's Basilica. In the Middle Ages, relics were very, very important. Matthias was also a king, but he was not canonized. However, he is the most popular ruler.
