When l was just a kid, learning about Buddha's quotes was boring, Never thought it gonna useful for my life, but it help me go through all of hard times. The quote that always help me, called Kalama Sutta.
Excellent video, some more facts: Siddhartha's father was told by his court astrologers that his son might become a monk, so his dad keeps him away from all sorrows and the prince leads a happy life till one day he goes out of palace to see the diseased, dead body, old fragile person which disturbs him and eventually he leaves his wife and kid to meditate in the forests
I'm a Sri Lankan. Majority of Sri Lankans are Buddhist. We have been lucky to learn Gauthama Buddha's purest Dharma, all thanks to Emperor Asoka.. King Asoka's son and daughter became a buddhist monks, named, Mahinda (Mihindu) and Sangamiththa. King Asoka was very friendly with his neighbouring country's king, Devanampiya Tissa of Sri Lanka. King Asoka sent Mahinda Thero (monk) to Sri Lanka to gift buddhism to King Tissa. (Sri Lankan buddhists celebrate this as "Poson" in the month of June) After that, Sangamiththa Therani (nun) came to sri Lanka with a particle of the southern branch of the tree "bodhi" , that the Gauthama buddha enlightened under. And it was planted in Anuradhapura district of Sri Lanka. It is called "Sri Maha Bodhi" and it is still there. And that visit of Sangamiththa Therani, resulted in starting the "Bhikshuni" clan (buddhist nuns) in Sri Lanka as well. (These 2 incidents are remembered by sri lankan buddhists as "Unduvap" in the month of december").
Buddha is the greatest inspiration for me in history , beating everyone including aristotle ,socrates confucius , etc, only thiruvalluvar s thriukural comes closer to his teachings
Excellent, Sal Khan! Lord Buddha Philosophy is awesome! The Mid Way or keeping a balance on our simple way of life, e.g. Controlling the MIND or Thoughts! However, most of us are becoming slaves to our thoughts and the 5 senses, while some using the word, ADDICTION. That's why, Shree Bhagavan said, " The Mind could be our Best Friend or Worst Enemy, try to control it via, Yoga!"
It's not Siddhartha who is known as Buddha, buddha is someone who is enlightened, Siddhartha was one of the most profound of them, its Gautam Buddha like his name Gautam Siddhartha.
We are Sri Lankan and we able to get rial books in pail and sinhala of of tripitaka buddissm in 3 catagarised books . So interesting sutra (reaching ) dmmak Chaka pawathana sutra , attatha lakkana sttra Maha satipattana suutra . Abi Damm mention brain and sensor behavior like Ai subject
The man appears in the beginning of the video is The Founder of Jainism, not The Gautama Buddha. Since both of great Spiritual Figures are likely similar in the paintings, please, be careful and concisely. Thanks 🙏
The Buddha didn't got any revelation from anyone, he was a nastik similar to atheist, he got the findings through vipassana and through critical reflection on the self and mortality. He always asked his followers not to blindly follow him or his believes but rather through inquiry and never believe any scriptures until it logically explains their reason (lotus sutta).
Buddhism failed in india because Buddhism was formed 300 year after Sidhartha died , he was hindu , there are so many Hindu saints who contributed to reform society this doesn't mean they become a god figure , om shanti om
U don't know anything.. It didn't failed.. It collapsed after 6 th century.. India has many Buddhist kings.. Like Ashoka, Kanishka I , Huvishka , Vasudeva I ,Kanishka II , Vāsishka , Anawrahta... Also Buddhism is called "Nastik darshan" in India . Buddha never declared himself God.. There is no concept of God in Buddhism.. Brahmins made buddha as vishnu avtar to make Buddhist follow Hinduism... Read about Adi Sankaracharya , he is one of reason of decline of Buddhism...
@@tamovrta580 what can I do... everything is a product of its time... cant go back and fix it. Notice that all the mjor kshatriya clans are along the western border. And all the new Isamic states were Buddhist.

There is a common misconception that desire is bad. Budha's point was NOT about desire. It was about clinging. Budha observed that clinging is a source of suffering not desire. Clinging implying - pinning one's hopes and happiness on the outcome of the desire.
Yeah as a buddhist, you are technically clinging to getting rid of clinging. But it is the only kind of clinging that leads to getting rid of clinging entirly at the end of the path. And when you discover the source of your suffering you automatically know that this is the best thing you could do.
JZoidberg This is a common misconception Craving (tanha) based on Greed, Anger or Delusion is considered the root cause of suffering. However, chandha or positive aspiration based in Loving kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy and equanimity (also known as Brahmaviharas) is part of the solution.
Who ever imigrated, were not called Aryans. There is no evidence of such people outside India. 2ndly, there was no Vedic tradition outside India. So doesnt matter where people came from, ideas are Indian. Sort of like USA now. Doesnt matter where ppl come from. They flourish and innovate in USA.
All the teachings of Buddha is 90% same of Vedas or some sanatan Dharma religious books and Hindu dharm is synonyms of sanatan Dharma.it is same like same product is selling in different stores with different packets.
The core contexts in these two products are totally different. It is sure that these two books may contain cover sheets, some words, colors, fonts, and so many basic things. However, the aims of these two books are the opposite. One book teaches you to pray for help from others. Another one teaches you to help yourself. That is sure that these two books contain words such as good, bad, help, happiness, and more but you cannot easily claim that they are the same product at all.
Some pre-13th-century Hindu texts, such as the Bhagavata Purana, portray the Buddha as born to lead the asuras, who oppressed the people, away from the Vedic rituals, which they were not worthy to perform.[3][15] Bhagavata Purana 1.3.24: Then, in the beginning of Kali-yuga, for the purpose of confusing the enemies of the devas, [he] will become the son of Anjana, Buddha by name, in the Kīkaṭas.[web 1][note 2] In the Skanda Purana, the Buddha is stated to be one of the incarnations of Vasudeva,[20] and begin enchanting the universe, causing righteousness to dissipate and immorality to prevail:[21] By becoming Buddha, I shall delude by the use of fallacious reasoning and deceit the Asuras who adopting Vedic practices will harass the three worlds. - Skanda Purana

Buddha may be an Indian prince but very very few Indians follow Buddhism. Only in China where Buddhism thrived and then spread to the rest of Asia. Don’t get it twisted.
Time is measured by before Christ was suppository crucified, and how long it's been after his death. Hence, BC stands for before Christ, and AD stands for After Death.
sir you are wrong , ashoka was far far years away from padmasamvava (born in pakistan ) whom he was known as a founder of buddhism , he was the one who was spreading buddhism from east to north of asia , ashoka later learned about buddhism and devoted himself to buddhism and built ashoka pillar in nepal , but ashoka in his early age he was just a greedy warrior or a prince

There were no Hinduism at the time of The Buddha there were vedic philosophy and other 61 philosophy which was against vedic philosophy. Later on Buddhism disappeared from India but remain in the form of Culture which got mixed with Brahmanism which is now called as Hinduism.
