Really good point Noah, fully agreed. The original rappers were, to my mind, the modern equivalent of the original bluesmen on a dusty porch, sat on a rocking chair with a guitar and using a beer bottle as a slide, writing statements about their life - rapping is all about telling stories in a slightly different way - the other day I was listening to ''Where is the Love'' and the verses, as such, were beautiful.

@@martinmayberry8946 - old school rap (Run DMC, Kool Moe Dee) or Hip Hop (NWA, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg) told a story the way they saw it. Honestly their stories weren't lies. You think Ice Cube who was college educated and not a criminal but was treated like a gang member by police was a good thing? he told his story out of anger in a way that was legal and was arrested for singing "Fuck Tha Police" and the police violated the 1st Amendment of the Constitution.

About 35 years ago I saw him play at a club in downtown Orlando. I"m a paraplegic (in wheelchair) and during the set he was walking around with a wireless guitar. For some reason he came up to me and put his guitar around my neck (mind you the music was still playing) and then came around behind me and played the guitar!.... but it gets better.. then he took my hands, put them on the guitar, put his hands on mine and started playing licks just like at 2:58!!!!!! He only played guitar with his hands over mine for about 30 seconds but here I am still talking about it 35 years later. By the way, the concert was f....g killer! lol... I played Buddy Guy's guitar!! Or I guess I should say, Buddy Guy and I played his guitar!
