@Quercus Robur they've gone right ought of their minds. I mean that literally too. They have all lost the ability to form a semi rational thought. Countries in trouble
The truly amazing thing here is that Jim Henson and the Muppets made us believe that they were more than just puppets. You get totally sucked in to their world. The musical guests and the songs they would perform together were some of my favorite bits. This one is classic.
The secret is that the Muppets all had unique personalities which set them out. Add their colorful dialogue and distinct appearances and you have all you need to make us believe they're living characters.
I am 23 but my father is 58 and we didn't have working TV just tapes and tapes of this, the A team and Open all hours burned on to CDs as a kid we watched the Muppets and as a teen watched the A team and Open all hours.
I never missed a Muppet show & we had such a laugh at work on Mon talking about & mimicking them. Now 73 & that brought back memories & made me laugh so much. Great memories.
OMG I saw this the last time some 40 years ago. I almost cried. I go for more muppets now! maybe I find the rita moreno clip, I saw it MANY years ago and can totally remeber it :-)
You know it! From what I remember reading this was a recreation of a drum battle between the two; Keith vs Buddy. Which Keith won. Wish that battle was filmed. What great things we could watch if only somebody had the foresight.
@@boataxe4605 Buddy Rich vs Keith Moon. Did you ever see the Muppet Show with Animal & Buddy? Dig it up on YT. It was a parody of that contest that they really did have (BR vs KM). At the end Buddy surrendered his sticks to Keith. It really did happen in the UK. Anyone out there lucky enough to see it live? I don't think it was recorded :( I only read about it in print in a book I bought in early 80s.. I love Keith's drum solo on his TV special. It's the one with the aquarium drum set. :) It's on YT also.
Used to watch this show growing up. We had a bunch of episodes taped on VHS and watched them over and over. Especially remember two episodes--one starring Mac Davis and the other staring Paul Simon.
I've been called and 'incredibly gifted drummer' by a few of my contemporaries and I've studied Rich, Peart, Cobham, Blakely, Crupa and a few others, Pete Erskin, Carmine, Tony Williams, Narada Michael Walden...BUT I STILL LOVE ANIMAL!!
Grohl is not a drummer. He is a singer / songwriter / celebrity that cashes in on Cobain's genius, and, occasionally, tries to convince the world that he plays the drums.Enter Buddy Rich. He was a real drummer and showed everybody else how it's done. Grohl is just a C+ student that needs to take some extra lessons from Animal. Extremely overrated as a drummer.
Whooee... while The Muppets may be returning to our screens in a new series, it's sad to realise we will never see anything like this historic piece of virtuoso drumming from the late Buddy Rich.
*Mr. Buddy Rich ..... he was a classic hell of the drummer !!!!* *> I mean it !!!!* A very nervous and unpatient "The ANIMAL" .... was the number TWO !! :o) Greetings from the Republic of Poland.
How is it that Buddy Rich gets missed from all the lists of greatest drummers of all time? This is absolutely brilliant entertainment. How I miss The Muppets and Sesame Street.😅
The best "Drum battle" I ever saw was a long time ago, wasn't really a drum battle, when Taylor Swift, with band, against Def Leppard. Taylor's drummer was going flat out trying to keep up, Def Leppard's drummer only has one arm but was cruising. The show was the two "groups" working together, doing each others songs, the final was where they played together.
Buddy Rich couldn’t have been too bad if he was willing to have Animal “congratulate” him for the win by being clocked over the noggin with a bass drum. They actually had a nice drum duet going on for a bit!
