The isa for UK only stonks is a great idea. Capital flight is a big issue. The UK really needs more investment and the best people to invest are the people living here.

I watched the budget today and I seen the sum up by Martin Lewis as I am keen on the savings bond. Martin Lewis has said if it's below 5% it's not worth having and with current rates I would agree with him.

One aspect of this keeps being sidelined. Since the war we have had National Insurance. By the 70's/80's govts were being warned by the 'mandarins' that some provision would have to be made for the boomers (a statistical abnormality from a 5-10 years post WW2). Government were pretty much using current contributions to pay pensions and other benefits. Class 3, a voluntary top up contribution, is now lost all parity with Class2 and gone sky high. Generally keeping the NI scheme is good news for lower incomes, otherwise they are excluded from contributory benefits and reliant on means related schemes with private company involvement based on performance targets. Fraud is vastly overstated by the Govt, and vastly overshadowed by unpaid benefits. Hunt wants to see 'social security' (its aim) go in not many years. It would cut out arguably the biggest NI fraud syngicate, the Government. We already have people in mould filled flats, homeless, food banks, what next the workhouse? Oh, and private health care like the US? I'm in my 60's and have never known a government so unhelpful to the young, and families. If they think we are aligning/ joining with the US, dream on. Sunak and Van der Leyen may kiss the feet of the US but it is pointless. All sides of the war in Europe live in the US. We are used, we are convenient but we are the old enemy the Brits, and very disliked by some Americans. That is fine, friendly is mutually enough. We are off mainland Europeans and thankfully a little idiosyncratic. Dumbed down TV and US news features may cross the Pond, but we are not American, great people they may be or not. And disentangling ourselves a little would perhaps help us both.

In uncertain times, how can one outperform with the S&P 500? my money goal of $3m seems far-fetched and just saving is not an option, do I seek a license advisor to help grow my funds, or wait for a favorable economy? I have barely 5 years to retirement.
