Excellent subject to discuss. There are excellent hospitals in BKK. Having a 1st-rate doctor who speaks your language, whatever the stars are, is a major plus for anyone's health care. I think Peter's experience in the 5-star hospital of having to specify which tests you wanted was highly unprofessional. The doctor at the 3-star hospital is what you need to have - he's the professional, not the patient. That is criteria #1.

I kind of similar situation. In asia they look at the hemoglobin ha1c which is affected by the average daily glucosamine level. I been with replacement for insulin call GLP-1 for about 8 years and supposed to help with weight control. Did not work very well. The game changer for me is been fasting for 48-72 hours once a month and it help with the glucose and help me to loose weight and also help me the cholesterol.

@@ThailandBound Bangkok Hospitals have huge rooms if you ever get admitted. Dining area, living room, terrace, bedroom. Attentive cute nurses. As a doctor I worked with 🇹🇭 colleageus in Europe and got very impressed. Not so much in Thailand. Its very much a business and that shadow the clinical care? But maybe I was unlucky (2 episodes) and the Brand has good reviews. I was fully covered by insurance both times, a bit pricy otherwise. Cheers.

Health care can be affordable in Thailand. I just had a hernia op for 19000 in Rayong. Not perfect, but clean, good food, good toilets and the operating room was brand new. I walked straight into casualty, they put me straight on the ward and an operation that night. No mention of insurance or cash before the op!

I’m struggling to lower my hA1c from weight loss and employing the ketogenic diet. I found a doctor that recommended fasting for 15 to 20 days to lower hA1c. Today I started a 10 day protein and butter diet, zero carbs, not even vegetables. I do this to alter my gut biom away from carbs and towards fats and proteins. I discovered for myself that fasting was easier coming off a ketogenic diet. To change the gut brain axis it needs to be reprogrammed. The switch to fats and protein and away from carbs makes it psychologically easier for me to begin a fast. Then for the next 15 to 20 days I’ll fast, consuming a unique electrolyte (Snake Juice, search YT), vitamins, micronutrients and supplements. Including the vitamins, supplements and micronutrients is my addition, so I don’t know what effect that may have on lowering my hA1c. I’m taking micro nutrients just in case I’m lacking in them during the fast. Speak to your doctor before attempting this. Good luck and I hope you keep us updated on your efforts.

... you are smart and on the right way. A BMI of 27 , just two above the limit of 25, doubles the risc of type2 diabetes. I'm 6 food tall and that is just 3-4 kilos of to much bodyweight. So if the jeans size goes higher then 32, 33 inches the problems will come sooner or later. Apple Cider vinegar is a real fat burner, 20 ml morning and evening with water. Your fadting method is the Buchinger method. I do it twice a year minimum 14 days. Much luckvand power for your way towards healthiness

@@_Alfa.Bravo_ Interesting note about how a little extra weight significantly increases the risk. Are you suggesting to take 20 ml of apple cider vinegar while fasting? I can maybe see that helping with the digestion of the vitamins, etc. Tks, I found Buchinger Wilhelmi Clinic YT channel. I was unaware of them. I suspect the doctor that I watched is following their protocol. You fast twice a year, you must have some more tips that you can share? What about exercise during a prolonged fast? I was thinking of walking and doing light body weight exercises to help maintain muscle mass. Thanks for the encouragement!
@lottoretirementstrategist7569
@lottoretirementstrategist7569 3 месяца назад
@@clrodrick For some people (like me) omad and keto didn't lower my hA1c. We'll see if a prolonged fast is the tool to use to break out of being pre diabetic. I read that starvation is forced upon you and fasting is voluntary and is controlled. I too try to eat one meal a day, but I often have a small snack maybe 6 hours later. I've read that autophagy really kicks in around day 5 and every day there after, increasingly more cellular debris is removed. The longest fast a person was recorded and monitored by doctors was around a year long. The doctors made sure he wasn't nutrient deficient during his fast.

Hi, Peter. I'll be moving to Thailand in about 18 months, I'm heading towards 55. I have been getting treatment for triglycerides for about 16 years now. Mine were 50.6 ( European levels ). The doctor said he hadn't seen those levels on an actual patient. he just read about them. I'm on a Fenofibrate tablet for life. But as you say, health eating and some exercise keeps my triglycerides in check.

Im over 50 so get far more done - entire abdominal ultrasound, ekg, est, chest xray, tumor markers (very important for over 40s),thyroid, hepatitis panel, liver and kidney function, eye exam, physical exam). Not true, I had a full test at Bumrungrad in the past and MedPark by the way... Both hospitals charged me about the same for the exact same tests. I've now moved to another hospital and I have the exact same tests. I have quoted you the price I paid in my last comment. I don't need to know what checkup you personally have, because when you have a blood check and a urine check and a stool check, which I also had, there is only so much they can check. with blood and urine. So I doubt you had anything more than I had. I left my comment to inform people that you can get good treatment in cheaper hospitals. You don't need to pay 25K for an yearly check up. One of the good things about running a You Tube channel about Thailand is being able to inform visitors the different options, which is why I left my original comment to help others make up their mind.

Do you know you can buy like a membership or discount card at a hospital and you can save like 10% or more?
@MarkRobert-BKK
@MarkRobert-BKK 3 месяца назад
Yes you can. For example the hospitals that are part of Bangkok Dusit Medical Services group (eg, Bangkok Hospital, Samitivej Hospital) offer the Chivawattana Card at various price points. I've been using their Prime Platinum Card for a few years and benefits include a 40% disc on room rates, 15% discount on out patient, and a very thorough annual medical check up. All for 14K baht, and with the annual medical check up for non-members costing more than 30K baht, you could argue that it pays for itself.

My ex missus needed a hospital and she searched online and the hospital that does look like a 5 star hotel was where she went as I was gobsmacked at the high level of standard as soon as we walked in. We didn’t know but the bill was reasonable in our mind and only speaking with some ex pats afterwards who mentioned we literally just went to Harrods for our groceries but at the time it was nearby to us. After doing some research, yes we paid over the odds compared to others for sure! Great info Peter 👍🍻

Thank you Peter. I know you don't want to name your hospital as you don't want to be seen to recommend any particular business....but could you give me a little bit more of a clue as I'm also looking for a promising Bangkok provider at a price point I'm comfortable with. The FIT stool test you refer to is cheap (free on the NHS each year in the UK) but only finds bowel cancer that's already established & shedding blood. To see if there's any trouble on the way you could have a colonoscopy which cost me B22k at Bangkok hospital Pattaya but many hospitals offer this at different prices. I gather that the general medical view on colonoscopy is that it isn't really indicated unless there's a good reason to believe it will find something; only 5% of them reveal something serious & mine didn't. I'll leave it another 5 years before I repeat. The other more general blood tests you mention and the consultation on the results don't really warrant a hospital visit as local walk-in clinics can all do the same tests with next-day lab results & interpretation consultation too. They should be much cheaper as their overheads are less. They usually have a menu & pricing. Just my two cents.......
