Budget Friendly Ruger American Rimfire:💥 Dayattherange 22LR Callout Challenge💥

Everyone was posting video's about the panic purchasing of ammunition especially 22LR and firearms during this time of pandemic. I wanted to see for my area how difficult it was. Sure enough shelves are really bare especially at the big box stores at least in this area.
I visited my local family owned outfitters store and they too are experiencing much of the same but had much more of a variety and some 22LR in stock. I know these are stressful and difficult times, but the challenge is a great way to get out with your family and have fun. www.dayattheran...
Do it your way ALL are welcome!

A very recent convert to rimfire, took my new Ruger American (standard) to the range as purchased. While it was enjoyable, my seventy-year old eyes really needed a scope at 100 yds. So I added a $29 scope and returned to the range. Using Federal bulk target ammo, after final scope adjustment, my seven round group was in one quadrant of the 4 1/2 circle. This week, I have two additional brands of ammo, but have been rained out, can't wait for some sunshine!

Do yourself a favor and invest in good glass. I also had a cheap scope on mine then bought a Leupold. I love it, but you don’t need to spend that much. You would also see improvement from a Vortex or Primary Arms.

Had a couple of really bad heart attacks a few years back, full blown cardiac arrest, 8 days on life support and it set me back in life a little bit. Getting back into shooting as finances allow has brought much joy back into my life. As I said earlier, always a good video. Good, clean, and honest. Very appreciated 😊😊

I have a Ruger American 22LR with 20" barrel, in Australia ammo is expensive at about double the price you would pay in America so I only shoot the 4 brands of ammo that you used in your video over 50 metres and have found the accuracy to be #1 CCI Blazer #2 American Eagle #3 Federal Target #4 Winchester SuperX. When shooting over 100 metres the accuracy is #1 CCI Blazer #2 Winchester SuperX #3 Federal Target #4 American Eagle.The higher quality and more expensive ammo which I have tried many times isn't anymore accurate so it really isn't worth using. I really enjoyed the video and it shows that shooting can be relatively cheap and fun.

I purchased a Rock Island Armory M14Y 22 lr about a year ago. This little thing is a bolt action 22 lr. It has iron sights a 10 round mag and is also threaded. I purchased this at a local Bi-Mart out yhe door for $117.00. My kids and I have shot a few thousand rounds through it and it is a tack driver. We shot it both suppressed and unsuppressed. We put a cheap 3x9 $29 amazon scope on it and a $ 15 bipod. My six year old has the biggest smile you have ever seen when we shoot it.

Just purchased a new ruger American 22 two days ago in an attempt to stay sharp during the ammo shortage and I must say I'm very pleased in the rifle. Did a slight break in on the barrel with 20 rounds then set out to see how it would group. 81 yards, yes 81 lol, 10 rounds and covered the group with a quarter. Running a vortex viper on top and cci stingers down the barrel. Really nice little rifle. Very pleased

@eldritchshiner
@eldritchshiner Год назад
@@ryanwilson5936 It is absolutely great! However, due to a small design change in the rifle and so far no alteration of the part by Timney, you have to file or very carefully Dremel a tab away for it to fit and function. This took me quite a while, as I didn't want to destroy the new trigger. Finally, it fits fine and works spectacularly. I particularly enjoy being rid of the somewhat annoyingly sharp safety blade.

I started with a Ruger American Rimfire compact, put the longer LOP stock insert on it (weren’t yet available in 18” full length) then scoped with a rimfire Nikon 3-9x40. Then about 4000 plus rounds. Then a Vortex Crossfire II pulled off my wifes 17hmr RAR compact. Now comes NRL22. (Though Covid keeps me away) I set up with the same rifle, Vortex ffp 4-16x44 in Vortex Pro Series rings on an EGW 0 rise base and MCARBO trigger spring. CCI Standard Velocity. 1.5” round steel at 100yards (in West Texas, wind ya know) and ding it regularly. 2” is almost 100%. From a center bag squatting behind the rest! Along with varying distances. Round count is well over 10,000 now. Only issues were 1 extractor spring (leaf spring around end of bolt) and 1 roll pin for the bolt stop. All this has totaled $800 list, $650 actual. You nailed it! One heck of a rifle!
@allenbmooresharinginformation
I had to use a dremel to sand the wood down as well on the Ruger Rimfire Target I own. I have another issue with things coming apart more thanthey should on disassembly. Additionally, the extraction can quit quickly when you aren't cleaning the bolt thoroughly between shooting sessions. With all that said, I'm pretty happy with the performance and recently upgraded the scope I use with it.
