Have you looked at the old sony ZV-1? 1000fps for $700ish? Definitely has limitations, I'm just curious which limitations exclude it from this list for you. (I've mostly used it for hummingbird hovering shots, which is all I personally wanted high speed for anyway...)

ZV1 has way worse resolution/aliasing/moire and compression than the Freefly and Wave.

In truth there was a lot of limitations for the ZV-1 or little vloggy as we call it. But little ZV-1 isn't what I'd classify as a highspeed camera, but more a camera that has highspeed settings, which is why it wasn't on the list. If i were to include this camera, then I would also probably include the other Sony cybershot that does 1000fps, the Sony FS700, and that one Canon that did 1000fps, as well as some of the newer Sony's that do higher fps. But these two cameras were specifically designed to getting into highspeed shooting specifically, which is why both companies are special as they each took a different approach. Top reasons is it doesn't have a global shutter, interchangeable lenses, more selective frame rates and the quality isn't really there. I'd compare the ZV-1 to more of the FS700, which is something I had for a short time. Idk if that answered the question, but it was a good question you asked and if someone else wants to hop in and correct me or yell at me, go for it!

That’s a bummer. I really wanted to play around with a Chronos Q12. :( I made a post on their forum about a camera idea using a 2K but smaller 2/3 sensor. Maybe by going with a smaller sensor, they can make it cheaper like $6,000. Also, Could you post some 830 fps samples from the Wave and run it through Topaz to 4K?

There will be an updated video sooner or later on that with some Wave footage 👍 The clip i used definitely wasn't the best looking, but I sadly ran out of time

@@harrisontheeditor thanks! How much better are the 1440 fps clips after running through Topaz? I heard there is a lot of aliasing and moire in that mode.

@@chinitopinoy1726 i did a video AI-ing the more compressed 2k Wave mode in the video where I compared the Wave and Chronos

@@harrisontheeditor i did see that. But could you do more footage that has lot of fine detail outside. That is where the Wave struggles. The example of the coke is not that challenging with the Wave at 2K. Try filing grass and high detail areas and you’ll see that’s where the Wave struggles.
