BUDGET HOTEL BELFAST? Was It Worth It? or STILL EXPENSIVE 

Maybe I'm cheap, but I think £100 a night is a bit steep for a budget hotel. I remember not too long ago, that room would've cost about £45.

Hi Paul, agree with you about those plug sockets! Perhaps the electrician didn’t think it through, just fitted them. Room a bit sparse. A one nighter as you said. I would not like that bathroom arrangement re shower etc. Ok if you were staying on your own. Not bad price for two - except room a bit small and poor layout. Solo travellers penalised yet again. Thanks for filming this.

Think it was a good hotel but price for single person is far to high not sure wether I would want to stay there though .always enjoy your Vlogs though nice seeing .different places ❤

have been and enjoyed Belfast 👍 price on this was a bit more reasonable but I’ll admit I’m not fond of the shower and sink in the bedroom would much prefer a ensuite but interesting as you say if it’s just for a night it’s not bad, Thanks again Paul for another good video 😁 take care

Hi Paul, originally from Belfast born and bred, I'm more than surprised about the staff, lack of attention and personality 😮 That's usually the actual 10 out of 10 score of us Belfast ones. Hotel was a bit expensive for what it was. Honestly, I don't really know what to think. Guess I'd check around a bit more. And I'm 100% sure without too much searching I'd find some of the real Belfast heart and soul that makes the city so special. Gutted here😢

I don't like the shower being in the bedroom in hotels and it's a very small room. Your ferry to Belfast on Stenaline was better.

I stayed here with my daughter years ago was going to a show in Belfast checked in given key went to roo. Opened door and man in shower wife at door went back down told reception told them annoyed no apology just given another key for another room

Belfast Hotels are a rip-off. 100 quid for the budget Etap on the Dublin Road is brutal. At least they weren't having a disco in the night club next door. 😂 Small mercies. Did you get a bus tour around the "TROUBLES" sites?

No wardrobe or draws but it has air conditioning in Belfast were it's nearly always pissing down and freezing. Now that does sound Irish.

Hello Paul. I really enjoyed your filming and still shots at the beginning very interesting, I loved the murals on the buildings. Not a bad room, not the most comfortable I've seen I've stayed in a room like this with no storage and it got awful messy and cluttered which I can't stand. The bathroom facilities are ok I don't think anyone would find it remarkable if I was in the shower 🚿😂 After googling the other day the AI Overview showed a European survey listed hotel accommodation in Belfast to be the 5th most expensive - average cost of weekend cost for a couple in 2023 was £392 , reason for high cost- inflation and fewer hotel rooms under construction than before pandemic which has led to a tight supply and higher prices. So considering that your room was a good deal indeed for two people though sadly not the case for one. I agree with what you said a solo traveller might as well go for a double room rather than poky single not much in it. Food rather basic and not reflected in the price. Really good information! 😊 x

Thanks again for a great video, Paul! I've never been to Belfast, but I believe it's an up-and-coming place to visit, maybe one day. I agree with you on the sockets being the wrong way around, as you need some sort of shelf to put your phone on. I didn't like the shower being in the bedroom, but that's budget for you. They would have been better off putting a screen or partition around the shower area. It didn't really inspire me to stay here, to be honest, but that's just me. We can't all like the same things, as life would be boring!!

It is what it is.. basic but clean & somewhat functional.. aside from the usb plug being in the wrong place. Over priced for what it is & the lack of a cooked breakfast. Thanks for sharing with us so we can at least know which ones to avoid or book :D Have a great end of the week Paul :)

For that price, I would have expected a larger room, a separate bathroom, a larger TV, USB sockets in the right place, a comfortable chair and a cooked breakfast. If a room is ready, most hotels will allow you to check in earlier as it makes their job easier. Even though it was clean, I would score this hotel a 3/10 for value, comfort and service.

I just feel Belfast is expensive overall but I have learned to live with it because there isn't much I can do about it. The room looks just like an ibis budget Hotel to be honest. Fantastic video Paul, I cannot wait for the next video.

Although I live in Wales, I'm Belfast (just outside the suburbs) born and bred, but travel back quite often. Travel to and from is no longer a pleasure since flights from Cardiff to Belfast City are no longer available. So if I want to fly, it's either first by rail to Bristol which is about 2h 30, then another 20mins by coach to the airport. I've used a variety of B&B's, Hotels and s/c accommodation, and have noticed that since Belfast has become a popular Cruise and general tourist destination, prices have rocketed. Air B&B -if you can get one - is almost as pricey as a 3-Star hotel and can vary in what's on offer. I would never book a hotel in the City Centrre areas due to the price and lack of parking. For my own personal convenience I have paid the price for the more suburban hotels - usually priced around £120pn - but these are at least 4-Star with excellent facilities. Everyone has a differring level of value, but however you look at it, it is never good value for money. Individuals - and I almost always travel alone - have forever been penalised, and that's never going to change. The most pleasant areas of Belfast are the east and south of the city, but unfortunately have the least number of options. That said, transport in, around and beyond the city is really very good, with regular train and bus services in all directions. Like most cities in the world, taxis are not cheap, so if you're not in a hurry, most places within or slightly beyond the city centre are within relatively easy walking distance with much of interest to see in the passing! Otherwise, the buses are reasonably priced and rover tickets are very good value. If you don't want to walk, there are scores of pay as you ride bicycle ports dotted throughout - pick up and drop off almost anywhere you wish. At the end of the day, you want a good night's sleep, so it's worth pre-planning well in advance if you want some value for your money. My personall favourite hotel is the Stormont Hotel in East Belfast; it's not the cheapest, but like all hotels the price can vary according to the time of year. The downside of pre-booking with some hotels is that you don't get to book with the hotel you want, but via a central or agency booking, which I find frustrating. Budget hotels are not really budget since they have to pay high city rates, but no parking; basic comforts but restrictions on when you have to check in and out, and breakfasts (who visiting NI wants an "English" breakfast when the good old Ulster Fry offers a much better plate for the visitor. If you're driving during your stay, Belfast City is a true nightmare for parking, and during the morning and evening rush hours, everywhere in and around the city is to be avoided at all costs - so be warned!

8:15 as an older gay man myself, I really don’t like the fact that they are relentlessly pushing the LGBT agenda and rainbow flags everywhere, trying to look PC and I just find it total cringe and even more so coming up to gay pride events - I know that Belfast has a gay bar and club called the Kremlin, just like Dublin has The George and Pantibar but it’s too much, it’s overkill

Unless you really had to why would you visit Belfast so expensive
