I just ordered an upgraded, not-as-budget version of this. My girlfriend recently said she'd like to play with a more simple deck, and she loves white. With white being kind of weak as a mono color, I suggested we go with a Selesnya Commander. I increased a little bit of the Card Draw, reduced some ramp and put in Avenger of Zendikar + Oketra, just because the Avenger is amazing and Oketra is her absolute favorite card + actually viable in such a creature-heavy deck. I'm looking forward to playing with and against this deck, thank you for your work! Really enjoying your lists, and they will propably inspire me to build some new lists myself.
I absolutely love this channel, it helped me when I built my first EDH decks, I’ve been following since the Ghoulcaller Gisa deck. My favorite, and most powerful deck, started as the Brago, King Eternal deck on this channel after about 3 years of upgrades. I owe this channel to showing me how to build good cheap decks, and for that I thank you guys.
I know this might sound weird, but in a 4 player game I like it when it’s 3 on 1 in an archenemy style. I enjoy being the target in my playgroup, it shows me the weaknesses of my deck, and it’s a show of respect for the deck and me as a player. Do I always win, no but I always have fun. I play this particular deck about once a month because it’s so oppressive.
I just recently bought this deck for $30 and it is crazy how fast it pops off. I've only played a few games but almost every game I played about 20-30 lands and kept my friends on their toes. Just one insane combo after the next, it just never stopped. The only thing change I made was swapping 5 Forest for 5 Plains to balance it out a bit more. I was having trouble getting a plains out to get my commander but after the swap it worked amazing everytime.
Quick potential upgrades list: Mirari's Wake Shalai, Voice of Plenty Avenger of Zendikar Tireless Tracker Sigarda, Host of Herons Aura Shards Bountiful Promenade Green Sun's Zenith Lifecrafter's Bestiary Courser of Kruphix Dragonlord Dromoka Nylea, God of the Hunt
I have 6 of these cards in my Karametra deck. Also Amulet of Vigor is OP in this deck since all your lands coming in come in untapped. And if you have a Lotus Cobra you’re getting 2 mana for playing a creature. Also Primeval Bounty is stupid in this deck, you get a 3/3 green beast creature token from playing a creature and +3 life for getting the land that comes in from the creature. Finally Nissa Vital force ult = May draw a card for a land coming into your play and Huatli ult = May draw a card for a creature entering your battlefield.
Such a fantastic channel! Pretty useful, mainly to brazilian players like me (MTG here is brutally expensive :x) I chose this deck to be my first EDH haha, I hope to beat some people and have fun with it, thank you for that tons of great options of decks and keep with the good work!!!
I really dig that you went landfall. My friend has an enchantress build that is really good, but it costs a bit. This version looks extremely fun at first glance, but I can still pay the mortgage. My wife appreciates your work for that reason.
I would recommend this as a linear intro/return to EDH. Nothing too hard conceptually, stays the course, enough tricks the table can help you discover.. And by definition, upgrading is literally anything you'd want as this is a filled out skeleton. Dust Elemental, Ezuri's Predation, more creature triggers. I like this as a solid foundation. I will admiy I was a hair disappointed, but am more intrigued by what it accomplishes within its cavaet than "What I think is missing".
It really can't be overstated how scarily consistent this deck is at getting out a turn three Karametra. And once you stick Karametra, by the time your opponents find something that can get rid of her, you should be so far ahead on land that recovering becomes a lot easier. I've actually had longer games with this deck where I ended up losing because I overextended by looping Whitemane Lion for landfall triggers, leaving me with nothing in the deck to create tokens after a boardwipe.
Excellent deck tech. As I was building up a Karametra EDH Landfall, I was thinking how good replacing those "noncreatures spells cost more to cast" for Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma and Prowling Serpopard it would be. Offering a good protection against control decks which can counter our win-conditions creatures, plus lowering the mana cost to play our creatures (including Karametra from commander zone) with an additional +1/+1 and trample boost for everyone attacking our opponents seems very synergic to me.
Lovin the deck techs! Kalemne's Captain would exile your commander but with all the mana it can be recasted easily - happy days! However, imagine someone playing merciless eviction against your sylvan awakening......ouch!
Thanks Julian, both points are true! If you suspect someone has Merciless Eviction just attack with all your lands and don't let them survive to their main phase ;).
If the win cond is about a very big beatdown with lands... whit not put some antems efect in there? And a Silvan Advocate sounds great :) Anyway, awesome deck like always, I had always think Karametra as a enchantress commander, but this is a great option too. I love your work, please, keep going.
Thanks for the compliment Asui! The anthem effects would be a win-more card which would not help us if we are behind and would only help us deal even more damage when we are already ready to win anyway.
Yes great question, it sure does, but by the time you use this ability it is absolutely crippling to our opponents and we can just have our commander go to the command zone ready to be recast.
Hey man I built this deck and I'm loving it! I started replacing some cards for upgrades in form of big fun creatures and I'm wondering which type of cards are most worth switching out? I'm thinking the expensive fetch a land cards like Ondu Giant and maybe some of the bounce cards like Fleetfoot Panther. What do you think is first prio to switch out?
You should switch out cards which are upgrades for the current card. So don't switch out Fleetfoot Panther for a Craterhoof Behemoth for example as they don't fill the same role. Make sure the new card does the same thing the old card did but better.
I’m a fairly new player, and I recently got my very first cards by attending the Ravnica prerelease event (I had previously played with a friend’s deck), so I haven’t actually had to buy cards online or individually yet - where would you recommend going? A quick search gave me a lot of options, but I’m not sure which source is best to go with. Thanks in advance for your advice!
Great deck tech, as always! I find this deck similar to my mono green ramp deck which has strengths and weaknesses: because there is so much ramp (good), I get a bit fed up with constantly shuffling my large deck (bad) after fetching a land; also since the win con is normally beat down the opponent's life total through creature combat damage, the decks can struggle or even be negated by opponent's decks that are anti this eg prison deck, so I added alternative win cons which I know are not budget: Epic Struggle (20+ creatures during your upkeep)and I'm saving up for Helix pinnacle (100 counters made by mana), but these sorts of decks NEED another win con against opponent's who can stop the attacks etc. Any other suggestions for alternate win cons? Possibly budget?
Play terastodon, destroy their 3 Prison pieces. Bounce Terastodon and play it again to destroy another 3. There shouldn't be much more of a prison problem after that.
@@BudgetMTGDecks Amazing!! You guys have awesome decks, I built a Rakdos deck around your suggestions and it is so much fun to play!! I'm building the Glissa right now and I'm sure I'll love it too - I appreciate how much effort you put into explaining everything. As someone who is quite new to MTG this is my new favorite RU-vid channel :D
