In this video, we attempt to build lexan windows for our racecar without an existing template!
A lexan window kit is 1500$ for this car, but since we were on a budget, we build them from scratch using polycarbonate sheet from Home Depot!!! This was a HUGE learnjng experience!

What’s the metal border for your doors to hold the lexan called and where did you get it ? You did such a great job on this. I have a Camaro ss and I’d like to see about getting that support boarder to hold my lexan.

@@Louie88 thanks man! I just laid the lexan in the existing windshield channel. The black border is just spray paint!

What did you use to paint the border around the windows

I scuffed it with red scotch bright and then sprayed it with rustoleum paint and primer in a can!

You’re not able to use urethane and primer to install it? Wouldn’t drilling into it would cause air leaks etc

I’m sure it probably could’ve been glued in, but we decided to use the rivets and rivnuts since this is just a race car. Lexan has an issue yellowing or becoming foggy overtime, so it will eventually have to be changed. This just made it easier.

I read somewhere that “Poly windows shatter into sharp shards, in a accident you basically have knifes flying around” Is this true?
