Just bought one. One of the best phone I have. I have iphone 13 and mi13t pro but I prefer this one. Remind me of old oneplus before they merging with oppo. What I love most is the clean ui and bloatware free. Also battery life much better than xiaomi.
True. Ads on phones weren't as prominent as back in the days as they are now. A lot of people watch the specs but software is pretty much the other story not many are willing to tell. This is why when it comes to my next Android purchase, it's probably gonna be non-Chinese. Which is like 5 or so brands.
Ads can be disabled on Chinese phones. My fellow Huawei users kept complaining about ads but I only see a 3-sec one on App Gallery which I barely use. Private DNS in the Settings (since Android 9) also helps.
@@jiffonbuffo my point is there shouldn't be any ads in the first place. Though it's pretty much "you get what you pay for mentality", let's remember that even Xiaomi 14 Ultra has ads and even so in their native apps. Although it's disabled these notifications thus pop up every so often and clutter the notification panels too much. It's there but you think it's just normal app notifications.
I rarely comment under the videos but i like this guy's positive and intellectual vibes...youtube algorithm recommends good stuff. Thanks for the review 👍
I have Phone 2 it is a breath of fresh air coming form xiaomi, good build along with great software no bloat no ad regular software update for a casual user like me( I do paly games like codm for 45 to 60 min a day) it the best. The only weak point is the camera & not getting a charger out of the box ( At this point it is prudent to buy a PD charger anyway).
Finally!!! A good review that doesn't say budget because all other reviewer's are comparing it with budget phones but you did a great job. Some people say the camera isn't that good but I don't think so it's pretty good
popup view is not part of android(aosp), android just have PiP for small information like video and map apps use cases, split window, freeform window which is like desktop apps window where UI actually resize, add more UI elements or remove based on window size.
Thanks for the heads up! So that's why each brand's implementation is different, and so far this is my least favorite, still it works in a pinch though
@@namedkenn yeah this is just shrinking the UI and letting it launch under a new small window. In these implementations of windows on a few Chinese companies the UI never resizes but rather scale the same phone UI to a small window. You can see the UI it's just a mobile UI no matter how big or small you make it. While split screen UI can resize depending on your window sizes and freeform window have full UI elements resize, that will make it from phone UI to appear like tablet or full desktop UI(that google have been making for chrome os).
Nothing Phone 2a is not official in Indonesia. So i choose Galaxy A55. Battery Life is good. No ad OS, it's One UI. The minus is no charger and slow charging, thick bezel.
I’d rather purchase this over a Poco or Xiaomi device as good as they seem to be . No ridiculous bloat ware, no ads , more trustworthy, NP2a probably has more consistent updates too. The camera seems pretty decent, probably on a par with an iPhone 13/14
@@AzureRT456 got it and my wife has a 24 ultra. Unless we are past 3x in, the 12r wins in most conditions. The purple push from Samsung in the dark is annoying and looks cheap, and in the day the 12r definitely takes a more focused shot. Just plucking around down here in Florida taking pictures of birds and the kids and Disney world, and the cameras aren't nearly as far apart as one might think, And if we are comparing to similar prices units, I don't think anything for under 400$ is beating the 12r camera handily, while also competing on any other aspect. The 12r at its "normal" discounted price in the usa has the fastest chipset, brightest and nicest screen, most ram, fastest updates, most battery life, fastest charging, the list just goes on and on. We're talking a price that's competing with the Motorola g stylus 2024, pixel 7, Samsung a35, and iPhone SE. In other markets, this isn't the case. But here in the states, what's competing with the 12r and why would you pick it over the 12r?
the lack of wireless charger, for me, is such a deal-breaker. I use wired earphones all the time (because they have superior audio quality of course) and the limitations of a single usb-c port will only let you use a single accessory at a time.
Haha well different people has different needs and compromises has to be made for budget devices Still I do appreciate wireless charging when it exists that's why I love the Infinix Note40 so much
@RickandMortyHundredYears As far as I know, there aren't ads in Samsung A55, but you will see bloatware inside. Like Multiple Calendar apps, Multiple Messaging, etc, because Samsung combined Google + Microsoft + Samsung own apps.
Haha now what would you like your secondary phone to do? POCO is great for gaming (so you can leave the iPhone for daily stuff), and Nothing Phone (2a) if you want an all-rounder--I mean the OS is so clean, the design feels *very* similar to the iPhone
Haha I’m also reviewing it right now and surprised to see the ‘silent when screen faces down’ thing! Thing is it’s not as customizable as Nothing, but it’s a step ahead of the usual ‘LED in the back’ affair for sure
Yeah I would agree there, in most shots I actually looked at the POCO and thought to myself ‘that actually looks really nice’ But then going back to what I said, Nothing captures a more ‘closer to real life’ look which you can edit later, while POCO gives that vibrant look straight out of the processing.
@@idolittle1901 the photo files need to be processed by the google files app. if nothing develop their own file gallery app, might solve the slow processing
Let me tell you, that 1-5 seconds (and sometimes more) can really get annoying especially if you want to show someone how's the shot going, if they need to retake and stuff, and I think it has something to do with the Ultra XDR processing, and native gallery or not, it's going to take as long as they need for the photo to be processed
Using np2a as my 2nd device, main device is pixel 8. Pixel heats up more frequent than u can imagine, the battery backup is rubbish. But my np2a never heats up, strange, battery life is on another level, i can get 8-9hours SOT with a lot of navigation, social media & google meet. The only thing pixels truly shines is with their software experience and camera, no doubt
Watching on my Nothing phone 1. Take one now and it's on sale in some parts of the country, I get this for a cheap price and the build and quality of this phone is like your holding a premium phone. It's fast and the camera is good just like iphone, with Nothing os 2.5 it's get so much better and fast. No other brand can compare it this is top notch period.
Nice review dude. Tot I share my smartphone history for context. My first Smartphone was Iphone 4 back in 2011. Followed by Galaxy S4 coz Iphone 4 screen size was just too damn small. Then I tried LG with the G4. But it died on me within 2 years. I was attracted to Xiaomi Mi Max series coz of the budget price and huge screen size. (I have big hands and bad eyes. So big phones are a blessing for me) So I got the Mi Max 1 and then Max 3. When Xioami killed the Max series, I had no other choice but to move to Huawei Mate 20X. (another Great Phone!!) The biggest phone available back then. Last month I switched to Nothing 2A coz it look so refreshing (both design and software) in a sea of copycat android phones flooding the market currently. And the budget price really was a surprise. So I tot i give it a try. For the price, Nothing really did a fantastic job!! I had 2 phone on my radar, Nothing 2A and POCO F6. I choose Nothing coz I don't not need the processing power of the POCO F6.
Hey Kenneth, I really appreciate you posting this review after the phone launched months ago, and I love how you show it in a separate screen while explaining. I've been eyeing this phone for months now but still haven't made my decision, but I think after your review, I'm gonna finally place an order. This is a truly honest and unbiased helpful great video!
@@namedkenn 🥰 I already watched most if not all English review videos for NP2a, so I think one can trust me when I say I found yours really refreshing and down to earth! Fancy ones don't really reflect the daily use and needs for regular users like myself. You deserve the recognition! (Also I'm Malaysian living in FR so I'm one proud SEA)
Yes. Woth it for its money. Writing with my 2a. Using it about 2 months. Battery is awesome, charging is good, everything is running smooth and fluid (for a not heavy user). Camera is not the top notch, but decent for me. I use my Fuji camera system anyway. Downside is size (could be smaller and more compact). Sctatshes easily back plastic. I am happy with my purchase. P.s. didn't noticed any lag on photo opening. No problem for me here.
Appreicate the video! I was s21+ user but the doomed green line occured so now im rocking nothing 2a and im loving it so far, it never lagged on me but the camera processing is very annoyingggg
Appreciate you watching the vid! Actually it is pretty annoying to not be able to view the photo immediately after, but the other strengths make up for it so yeah 🤔
Hello! I really like Nothing/CMF, but anything over 50 USD becomes so expensive here in Brazil. This model imported from Ali (with taxes included) costs around 820 USD. A flagship here costs at least 1000 USD (generally those for 650 USD), and Ultra models reach over 1900 USD. 😮💨 Just to give you an idea, the monthly minimum wage for 8 hours of work a day is 284 USD. I've reached the point where I don't even care about the rational part; I buy what I think is cooler. Nothing makes sense here, hahah. Btw, great review!
I'm not complaining too much as screen tearing is basically a non-issue in phones, but I always appreciate when the screen could match the source, like the Xiaomi 14
@@namedkenn I wonder if Xiaomi is really doing something to improve the video frame rates or just using 60hz source and adding frames on UI rather than improving the videos(some phones can actually improved the video by calculating frames and adding those in the video not just in pixel drawing for final screen output).
@@masashiyeo I wanted the phone 2 but missed out for the time being but been looking at this one also. If you have time could you give your opinion on each? Maybe which you like better. I'm aware of all the specs for both so just your personal opinion would be awesome. Thanx
Hello everyone, i am looking into getting Nothing phone i am very confused between Phone 2a or Nothing Phone2. I am looking to use the device for 2-3 years & Battery life is very important for me and camera should be decent. I am not gamer at all 0 games just want to use the phone daily with GPS 8-12 Hours for work and just listing music and insta. Dont want lagy device. Please help me out guys! 🙏
chinese Os has better animations especially Origin OS has better finger print animation collection, charging animations, dynamic wallpapers and great customization this doesn't makes me to move to new phone i will change these animations whenever im bored. Iqoo phones also providing MEMC feature whenever i on this feature this makes my normal movies looks more smooth and lively these features are missing in these branded phones
@@namedkenn malaysia, the notification was full of recommendation. the Getapp app has ads that can't skip for 3 seconds. but at least it still has google play, so i used that instead...
wouldve loved the phone but the processor choices of nothing has been a miss for the past 2 phones for their price ranges like 600 bucks for an 8+ gen 1 well its kinda fair but if it was 500 bucks it wouldve been better and for 360bucks for a dm7200 is kinda meh comparing it to the poco x6 pro and the newly released f6 it gets outclassed hard, but the benefit of it having no ads is an amazing benefit but ye due to the lack of power it is a hard downside
@@Rorensuwl8 yes, if you are paying for a phone greater than 3-400 bucks you shouldnt be getting a lacking processor, looking at that one nokia phone with a sd 695 thats 600 bucks, and oppo renos with helio 99 for 380- 500bucks then would rather go for an old flagship phone like an s21/22 ultra for 350-400usd(depends on where you get it, usually second hand) which gets you more performance and flagship features but if you are for the no ads and clean OS and long term support then ye nothing is amazing, but looking at it in a price to performance perspective its outclassed, even by the tecno camon 30 pro with a dm 8200 for 280-300 bucks and the infinix gt20 pro at the same price as the 2a, 2a looks better in design compared to the gt20 pro but the camon 30 pro looks like a vintage camera which is cool
I wish it had USB 3.0 with desktop mode like DEX in samsung. But aside from that pretty good phone for the price. And your review is very nice and to the point 👍
I just checked local market and in my country this phone costs exactly the same as Samsung Galaxy S23 FE with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, DEX mode and an additional telephoto zoom lense. I'd go for samsung in this price catergory :D
@@renyellowhi, i bought this phone eventually, so far so good, regarding the image processing, yes there it is, but not really bothering, battery superb, i am just casual user no gaming,
Even samsung usually has some amount of preinstalled apps, and local apps that send annoying notifications (like Galaxy Gift if it’s something in your country)
I bought nothing phone 1 & i was disappointed bcuz horrible sounding speakers and dull display i had to live with, then i gave it to my wife and found moto edge 40 for low price even nothing phone 1, in comparison with nothing phone one speakers great, display great, hand feel great, software support not great.
should i get samsung galaxy s23 FE, A55 or this? currently I'm using Samsung a52s 5G because the last time I used an imported phone (Oneplus 6) the screen's pixels died and there's no way of fixing it. what I don't like about my current phone is sometimes it takes a while to take pictures in burst speed
Shame it has plastic frame a it's too big. 163mm is too big. Especially at Summer with shorts..🥲 Make the phones smaller. That's why it is mobile phone and not tablet..😐
Well this is exactly the same size as iPhone Pro Max and Galaxy Ultra series, although I do agree it's a bit wide But since I've been daily driving Pro Max for years I'm used to it
@@namedkenn Those big phones are not for me. Now if you want smaller phones there is only Pixels, pixels (a), Samsung s24, primary Iphone and Asus zenfone 9,10. But you can't find those small phones in budget price. Nord 4, A55 or NP (2a) would be ideal for me if it was smaller. Don't need wireless charging and powerfull procesor for gaming.
