“Dunsy says, always have a spare Tele neck in the back of the cupboard, just in case … you never know when you might need one!” That’s what I’m going to tell my Mrs! 😉👍
Absolutely! I remember buying it, then being a bit miffed at the time as it didn't fit any Tele I had. At various points over the last decade I probably noticed it when tidying up and was 1/2 way to binning it. But, here were are, turns out it was well worth the £40!
I had my t shirt printing friend make me a one-off shirt - I take great care of it! I'm real pleased with how this ended up. Funny how you start doing one thing, then take a different turn, but then manage to pull it all back together.
I guess they must make them for different sellers and just put their stamp on the bottom (or no stamp at all)? I'm impressed with these - nice and bitey, but not too much.
Very Cool Thankyou Dunsy. WOW such an amazing guitar. Yeah both sets of Pickups sounded awesome to me as did your playing (WOW-awesome). All the Best. Cheers
Thank ya! I appreciate people taking the time to check it out. There's a whole lot of choice out there and the fact that folks take the time to listen to some old Scottish guy yacking away in his spare room about guitars and music never ceases to amaze me!
8:27 A neck pocket gap does make an ideal pic holder though, in my experience and if you ever need to tweak the neck alignment, you’ll be glad of the gap - the bigger, the better! That’s what the salesman told me. And he seemed very certain. 🙃
Could fit a tin of Golden Virginia in there! My dad's favourite brand, as I remember. Aye, it doesn't look great under the microscope, but it works no too bad. Mind the gap! Ahem. 😂
@@DunsysGuitarWorld One of my partscaster Teles has a big gap at the back of the pocket, which is tricky to deal with, as I have a 22 fret neck with an ‘overhang’ so can’t see the gap when it’s fitted. Pretty sure that gap will affect sustain and acoustic resonance. Don’t want to redrill the neck holes because comparing it all with my other partscaster Tele, which has a proper fitting neck, it will throw out the scale length, looking at the saddle positions. The joys of partscaster guitars - often a challenge to overcome! 👍
Yeah, I think the Homelands have more of a single coil bite, but when I watched the video back they both sounded good in different ways. Thanks for checking it out, mucho appreciated.
That sounds like an absolute beast. I've actually just resurrected an old Yamaha Pacifica with the Musiclily Alnico V Strat pickups off Amazon (about the same price as yours). They sound really decent.
Yeah, nice and bitey, but not to ice picky! I really fancy getting a Pacifica at some point. Only every played them in shops, but they seem to be a great all round instrument.
Your right about the metal scratch plate Dunsy. I've seen loads and talked to others about the science and the jury is out but metal scratch plate can be excellent at noise suppression but also boost frequencies between 200/400hz which can overpower the top end from the pick up but can help with overly bright pickups. Exactly the opposite of what you'd think.
I was totally surprised when I changed the pickguard - I think the neck pickup is still a little on the bassy side, but it seems to have brighted up enough where I was really liking the sound. Science, eh?!
I was totally surprised that the holes were in EXACTLY the same place on the neck and the body! I have no idea who made the neck (I can't remember the fella I bought it from knowing either), but it fits perfect. Apart from the massive gaps on either side at the neck pocket, obv!
The darker fingerboard has definitely improved the look, imho and the pickup swap has given it some real bite! Nice project guitar, Dunsy! 👍 Would you gig it? 🎸🤔
Yeah, I agree. It does look better with the darker rosewood and I was really enjoying the bite that those pickups have. I'm well impressed for £35 or something. I always want to try on stage with single coils - but whenever I get to the rehearsal room I just miss the grunt of humbuckers. Could be a mental block? Or a mental bloke?!
@@DunsysGuitarWorld It’s a funny thing - if I had to choose one pickup type, it would be a humbucker but I have more single coils 🙃 Is it just me who thinks that somehow single coils sound more revealing in a live mix (?) I feel more comfortable playing humbuckers and am going to put a humbucker in my Tele neck as a sort of compromise. Don’t know if any of that makes sense…
See sometimes when someone points out the most obvious thing that I never even considered? That's just what happened there! How did I no click that A V2 would likely have a "2" on the body? I'm going to take my brain out of Park before the next video.
