Yup every night I put a video on when I go to sleep. Just hate it when he’s taking, what seems like a year on cranking on a stubborn engine that doesn’t want to start. LOL
Been watching since the channel was new. Was happy 2 c a guy still working on rigs. This channel got me off Xanax. I quit using Xanax and needed something to calm me down during a anxiety attack. I was having a panic attack 1 day and poped on an ol vice grips episode and was laughing in under a min. You impact many lives Derek thank you sir.
You have no idea how much I love seeing you doing something with that truck. That truck used to belong to a good family friend who has since passed away. He's the one that put the new motor in it. He bought it from a guy who saved that and one other truck from going into the crusher. They were already stacked and ready to go in. That's when the guy bought them. The scrap yard even drove them back to his place. As far as the other truck, It was a 69 Chevy k20 that I currently own.
A whole hour episode. Ain’t nothing better. I love that I can get the same satisfaction out of watching my favorite RU-vid fella wrench when I can’t afford to wrench on something of my own.
That bright blue carpet actually gives off a sort of luminous effect, brightening the interior. Brightens the doors, too. I like it! It's a really cool contrast with the basic blue of the truck.
Bro not even going to lie it took me a second to figure out what it was I had to literally put my phone to my face when I was like that's some hillbilly ingenuity there seems like the previous owner that put it on there just had zero fs to give
Derek, one thing you could've done with that neon beer sign blue carpeting would be to buy a $4 bottle of Rit Dye and put that carpet in a tote of water and dye mix and it comes out whatever color you buy. Pretty neat option, something to keep in mind and it's so simple. I love this truck!
Derek, you are by far one of the best youtubers. Love the 4 wheel drive content. Between what you choose for projects, the way you walk us through them (informative and hilarious), and your consistent weekly uploads is why i think a lot of us love your channel.
I just love spending time with you every week Derek. Love watching you wrench on cars and learning stuff along the way. Your awesome and I thank you. Have a good weekend my friend and God Bless.
My buddy in high school had a 77' 3/4 ton 2wd stepside. Had 16.5x10 slot mags and 31' BFG A/T's. We took that truck in places no 2wd should go, We hauled our dirtbikes all over the place with that truck and had a blast with it... good times
My great granddaughter wants a old pickup truck. I want to teach her by watching you and me showing her what she does not understand I'm handicap but with your help we will teach her how.
Needed this today, man has the universe been givin a guy a hard time. Love your content brother thank you for your videos they help more than you may realize keep up the great work Derek.
Shits going to hell in a hand basket huh? We are all feeling the same and live in the USA. Can you believe it? 2018-19 Booming Economy n things were going so well. Keep fighting James. Stand up to the universe. This is Your Country Brother.
They call that electric blue because you're shocked when you see it. It matches the dash and radio lights really well! That is a nice looking truck...well done! 👍😎
I still can't believe this gem was rescued from a scrapyard, unbelievable 🤦♂️ I love that blue, and those blue dash lights compliment it perfectly, they'll look great at night, what a rig 💙
Derek, you NEVER fail to put out high quality content!!! I've gone back to the very beginning (again for the 4th time) and watched the channel evolve as time went by. Not even lying, this is the only channel that I've done this with because the wholesome family values you have, mixed with education, solid one liners and humor, the stories behind the rigs and just bringing us all along for the ride with your family and allowing us to feel like a part of said family. As for the recent issues at your homestead, my faith in humanity has hit absolute ROCK BOTTOM. You definitely took it in stride and like they always say, you can't keep a good man down. Thank you for doing what you do.
I was watching this episode at the gym….. and when he put in the carpet!!!!! I’m telling you I laughed so loud that everyone started looking back at me while I’m on the elliptical machine!!!! And I continue to laugh for a while longer long enough that everyone could have a second look!!!!! Thank you, Derek for brightening up my day with neon blue carpet that I am 100% positive glows in the dark! Love you man!!!
I just want to say I love the content of this channel. Started watching with my son last summer, probably watched every video 2.5, maybe 3 times. Also my dad enjoys them just as much. Entertainment for three generations of my Canadian family.
Hey, Derek. This was a beautiful example of what you do best. Make it functional, then dress it up a little bit. A fella is not talking about perfection here - what you wanted was a nice dependable rig to drive and use and not break down. Beautiful balance of form and function demonstrated by you. I love the way you work logically and seamlessly to achieve your goals -- you are teaching us that it can be done without spending an obscene amount of money. What I see in you is respect -- respect for your cars, your work ethic, and your family. And you do it all without swearing or putting anyone down. We, as students, are learning how to be a better human being from you -- thank you, sir. We ALL appreciate what you do !! Keep on showing your true self -- we love it !!
Wow. That color is crazy. Years ago at work, we got to choose the color of our new company cars. One guy chose medium blue. When it showed up it was Smurf blue. He was razzed endlessly.
Anyone else notice the accessory item on the end of the driver side rear bumper, handy bottle opener. Should come stock with every truck. Great show, thanks for sharing
I picked up a barn find about 2 years ago. After watching your show you have motivated me to get the thing running. It’s an F350 with a flat bed. That was rotted away so building a new bed and converting to a dump bed. It has the 390 big block. Exhaust is busted so hung to hang some headers in there. If I can get the bolts out. It’s been a long time since I did the mechanic thing. 40 years. Getting into it. Thanks for all the videos.
I actually like that Electric Blue carpet / Electric Blue gauges combo. Granted, an electric blue dash cover might be too much... lol. Keep up the great work.
On the seat, find a big section of used denim, stuff it through the hole and spread it out over the foam, then hand stitch it to the rest o the cover - that will save the foam from getting ground away from getting in and out of the truck. :)
Mate, your mannerisms and quick wit makes you a cut about the rest! not many youtubers I'll happily sit and watch an hour long video of. Keep em coming
Hey Derek try a deflated basketball shove it in there and use the inflation kit from your truck with the little needle then reinflate it and it will pop out I tried that with my truck it works beautifully! A cheap ball Is less than $10
My kids are constantly asking me "what did you say" as were working on stuff. My wife even caught me saying electrodigcal once and I had to explain. Lol
Hey Derrick just throw some dirt on that carpet so it doesn't blind you when you get in the truck first thing in the morning. Love your videos your hilarious
Thank you for doing this. Seriously, thank you for doing this. Seeing a good old square body with a shop sticker on it can surely help take those that remember a little simpler time, back a bit. Granted I'm on the tail end of that time...but being from a REALLY small town this just has that small town feel to it. Your videos are always great. This one just sent a guy for a long, slow, stroll down memory lane. Outstanding stuff.
Really enjoyed this video, brought back so many memories. My dad had the exact truck when I was a kid, same color, same wheels. He passed away a few years back, wish I could watch your videos with him I know he’d love them. You have the same eye for what looks good and how a old Chevy should look as he did and he passed on to me…Definitely the perfect rig you got there, looking forward to more videos of it
My dads wasn’t factory color actually painted with metal flake so yeah probably not exact color…but it was the same shade, maybe I shouldn’t have used “exact” lol
@@bullfrog1807 oh nice! I have my dads ole 79 sierra grande still. Been in my life since I was 1 year old. It was the same blue as dereks here (the dash original blue) but i painted it flat black of course years ago when i was 18-20 or whatever. Lovely truck.
@@umakemerandy3669 Awesome….I didn’t get my dads 4x4 but I have is old 72 c10 short bed fleet side. My dad painted it flat black as well, if you ever re-spray your truck look into a product called “hot rod flatz” they make a really dark colored flat black that really makes a flat paint look legit
I will always love the Square Body Chevy's.... Lost mine in a wreck 20+ yrs ago and still dream of having another one. You are a blessed man ... I Love this channel, keep em coming Derek. Thanks for bringing us along with you.
I am right there with you, also lost my last one to a wreck 21 years ago. 84 short bed, 2wd, lowered, cowl hood with a very hot small block. Now on disability for the rest of my life, which means I probably won't ever have the funds to swing another, especially at the current prices.
Hey brother I’m just a Maui man dreaming of a 50 or 60 era cars. Absolutely love your channel. Hope you never stop. Amen brother and please say hi to the kids from Hawaii. ALOHA
That is a fine looking machine. I think the special "Electric Blue" carpet, fits right in when you have the lights and radio on, because when those light up they are the same color. I was a little sad to see that you didn't stretch some of that vinyl looking leather over the dash board. Since you had it out, gluing down some half inch foam and stretching the vinyl over would have made it look way more newerish. Lots of fun in this episode and can't wait to see more.
I sit here watching VGG and laugh. It's always a good time to listen to the back stories on the rigs, and follow what they become. I'm not sure if you've named this truck yet Derek, but Electric Blue now seems fitting. Great show!
That carpet debacle happened to me once on a 73 Chevy, and believe it or not I rattlecanned that ugly carpet to a much more suitable color! Did not attempt it in one coat; laid it out on the ground and sprayed several mist coats until it was perfect. Never thought it would work, but it did! Since the seat and the floor mats covered most of the carpet, there wasn’t much painted area showing in the end. Give it a whirl if you get tired of the “electricity”.
I lightly rattlecanned the custom black faded old t-shirt stuffed denim 2x6 skillsaw carved lumber seat on my '76 Honda TL125 and It worked so good I am going to do it again next fall.
Absolutely love that ole GMC square body and I’m in love with that blue paint. I just couldn’t do that electric blue carpet. LOL I woulda exchanged it for black carpet and maybe eventually reupholster the seat with black vinyl but that’s just me…The gauges are awesome as well! Much better than the dummy lights.
I'm liking what you have going on with the 4-wheel drive. I also like the blue. It reminds me of a rig my dad had when I was younger. He bought it brand new back then.
Laughed quite a bit on this one! Really enjoyed it. I think a feller missed an opportunity to install an underbody neon blue light kit to match that carpet! All kiddin' aside, great vid Derek. The wife approves, she says she'd drive that to town any time.
You helped me through a really tough time. ..because you make me laugh..I so appreciate that in you...Whoever raised you Mr. Beri did a fine job... and, you're doing a fine job with your boys. You have been so blessed... so blessed...pause once in a while to thank God for your so many blessings.. and stay humble it looks good on you.
Boy it’s hard to believe someone would send a truck like this to the scrap yard, she’s a true survivor square body. Beautiful truck man, I absolutely love your channel
The truck's look'n pretty good but you gotta do something with that seat. Maybe just cover it with a parts store cover. It'll really finish the interior. Thanks for another great video. Can't wait to find out what's making all that background noise.
I rebuilt the leaf springs and frame and pumpkin of my 2004 eff two fiddy after watching your demo of how to do it. Just a little tssssst tsst tsssst here and there. Looks factree.
Thanks for the vid. Love a modern service box put on this unit. Also if you were gonna use this truck I'd put dynomat or whatever brand in the doors, fllors, firewall - helps keep the noise down. I did it in a mid 2000s truck and it made a big difference like closing the doors made it feel solid, less noise on the road, etc. However, you have a ton of projects so unless your using this truck alot then it might not be worth it. Thanks again for the vid.
This is the second video ive watched on this channel ever and this episode had me laughing so hard that I'm pretty sure ill watch until you quit. Thanks sir.
Nice job. It reminds me of the truck on the TV series "The Fall Guy" that Lee Majors used to drive as Colt Seavers who was a bounty hunter. Seavers's truck was a Rounded-Line 1981 GMC K-2500 Wideside with the Sierra Grande equipment level package. Thanks for the upgrade demostration.
I would've loved to have that kit on my old '78 Chevy truck I used to have! Really cool setup. Really cool truck derrick! U can't beat an old Chevy or GMC truck!
I love that truck! I once had a 76' short bed, 3 speed and I hated to see it go, but I had to trade it for something more practical for a family ride. I didn't have the cash for a down payment back then, I regretted trading it from day one
Love the content and the truck Derek, and I gotta say I can't speak for anyone else but I'd love to see more on the 83 Cenex truck. By far one of my most favorite episodes of yours, keep it up you're doing awesome!
Love this truck!! You did a great job on the stickers. If you're ever in the mood for adventure you could use dish washing liquid and and water. That'll give you a little open time on those sticker if you will. Let you move around a little!
That is a nice Truck mate. The colour is perfect for it. It looks amazing with chrome rims and bigger tyres with white letters. Definitely a good daily driver. I'd definitely make this my personal vehicle.
I'm a female backyard mechanic and an engineer by profession,so I get all what pro Mechanic's show us experienced amatures, I love vicegrip its a great channel
I had to get my brakes checked today. I actually caught myself telling the guy to "put his peepers on it". ROFL! I'm a disabled Nana but I sure do appreciate me some VGG. I had a Chevy S10 in college that was the same color blue as this rig. It was called Aspen blue.
When installing shifter boots, I wad up some fiberglass insulation and stuff it inside the boot. You would be amazed how much noise it eliminates, and it might cut down on heat/cold. It takes 30 seconds and makes a big difference
