Nah he’s not bad close range, I use cyrax with him and do 50/50s with his moves. I think the enhanced skull is what you have to use for the combo extender but the low grab tentacle shouldn’t cost 2 bars but it makes sense because he is an amazing zoner
I think he's good in many ways but his D1 should be 7f startup with -8 on block and I'd be completely fine with him. He has EXDB3 that you cancel off his D1 while holding Block+F+3 to force opponent out! This puts them in his range. He has crazy trap setups with Strike Throw mix. Don't use 13/B34 as mix because it's fake and fuzzy Blockable. If opponent blocks low to high they guard against it every time with ease.
@@anthonyaquino123 he's good, just not a Rushdown archetype. He's a zoner/keep away/setplay character with perfect tools to compliment that. He only struggles vs close up pressure like Johnny but he has EXDB3 holding F+3+R2 to push them out and preventing pressure or punish and puts them in great optimal range. He has great Setplay with Jax Kameo that gives him 1000hp start. He is +35 off any touch and has legit 50/50's with Strike/Throw. His throw does 25% and loops. His B34 goes into 30% meterless into +35 Restand that loops and you can enforce Strike throw. Full screen unblockable with SkyDrop. Sektor is a great option for zoning, 38% meterless off any touch even full screen. And really compliments his zoning and Portal Buff to do mid projectiles that are +18 on block and cover 90% of screen into more projectiles you have to hold. Ketchup and Mustard have a Quan guide showing Sektor, Sareena and Sub. Tremor is mad good as well because he gets 40% off his SkyDrop which can be done fullscreen counter zoning, punishes, in combo, and as Armor Reversal! Tremor also gives him 1000hp like Jax and has 35% meterless combos and a get off me reversal mid for those Rushdown characters.
I sum it up like this. AT LEAST, stylistically, he's cool as hell. Eldritch Horror Netherrealm Sorcerer? Uh yeah?! Dmg, health, and meter cost can all be applied in a patch. You cant patch a boring character style so im happy they nailed his design.
I agree, our boy is terrible. If we can just get a buff to his pokes or his launcher being changed to one bar we would be fine. Playing the range game is where he’s good but having no defense against rush down and slow normals that everyone can mash out of is simply not fair to me. Every other character has atleast a 7 frame low poke.
His 13/B34 is fuzzy blockable by blocking low to high, covers all his options but his 2144/214xxEXDB4 but that tentacle is heavily scaled, very unsafe and expensive. He's good but you need the right Kameo like Jax/Sektor/Tremor. He has crazy setplay and his D1xxEXDB3 Hold F+3 is a crazy good get off me tool for rushdown chars like Johnny Cage. He is best if you use him as pure zoner or do Setplay with +35 trap setups into Strike Throw mix. He has Looping throws that do 25% with Jax and 1000hp. Tremor allows him to combo off SkyDrop anywhere, fullscreen on combos and armor reversals
He's not meant for anything else but zoning and doing combos that push you away to zone. That's why his frames on some buttons are bad but most of his strings are either safe or have 50/50s in them that make up for those few things he doesn't have up close. So he doesn't suck. You just can't really use him the way you wanna and he has alot of range on his buttons

His stand 4 is punishable if your up close but you don't wanna do it upclose anyway, the 1 punishable string he has is -8 with push back, his back 2 is punishable if you don't charge it but nobody's gonna use that, and his other string that's punishable is only for ending combos and has push back

your out of your mind if you dont think hes s tier. his mix is ridiculous with insane counter zoning and zoning in general. Use him with sub zero or sareena and you will change your mind. This character is not even close to fair bro.
Reasons why Quan Chi "Sucks": Quan Chi has fullscreen anti-zoning (standing 4) which can be canceled into multiple moves, including his own zoning Quan Chi has a projectile that eats other projectiles, and can teleport the opponent to you on certain situations Quan Chi has demonic mixups, including two mixup special moves Quan Chi also happens to have a double hitting overhead, and the first overhead can be canceled into a low Quan Chi has decent damage for a full on zoner Honestly Quan Chi is easily one of the better characters in the game rn. He does pressure, rushdown and zoning really well. All he really suffers from is defense, but a good player can change that
@@thespirit3760 yeah but those that do have mixes also have ridicoulosly advantaged string enders. With johnny the pressure goes on for multiple strings, raiden has pushback but better range quan chi either gives up the turn or gets punished when theres a correct guess.

He's slowwww 😮💨🤣 like dawg I labbed with him for almost an hour and the moment I took him to online my health gets decimated 💀 u gotta be blocking most of the match and wait for the perfect timing so u can do a combo even low tier Sub Zero would mop the floor with him in an instant🤣💀easily punishable i be obliterating the Quan Chi mains in one fell swoop.. sorry not sorry 😭
Finally!! Someone that knows EXACTLY what what I'm talking about lol I labbed Lei Mei with Scorpion last night and decapitated a Quan cause of her insane pressure and blub kept on blocking and bearly poked💀🤣 gollly he needs a buff like sub does 😭
