It's been 22 years since this episode first aired, but it's still launching Spuffy ships to this very day 🚢

Amy's brief appearance is one of my favorite Buffy moments ever! Such a perfect little gag to pull! :)

0:52 "It's not like Buffy's gonna get married." The LAUGH I let out. 3:00 "I'm waiting for her to have to do a spell or something like that." Your wish is granted. The SHOCK when Willow's spell hit Buffy and Spike, lol! I love how good that moment with Buffy asking Giles to give her away is, then the absurdity of the situation catches up to him. This is one of the most hilarious episodes. Looking forward to the next one!

Part of what sells this episode is the music. Buffy and Spike kissing uses the same music as when Xander and Cordy kissed for the first time. And the ominous music playing in the Willow/D'Hoffryn makes us worry until we find it's just about a job offer which Willow declines. Still there's the usual high quality of acting, when Alyson cries I cry. And we got sarcastic Giles, reminds me of when Wesley came in as Watcher. "How? What? How?" "'Three excellent questions."

People have all kinds of opinions on who the character of Buffy should be with. But in terms of chemistry this one episode she had more chemistry with Spike than with every episode if Angel and Riley put together.

And the Spuffy ship sets sail! 😂

Something Blue was one of best of S4. Spike being more perceptive than Giles or Buffy re Willow is a great writing, even though he's tied up in the bath. Great foreshadowing again here in S4 as we can see Willow's powers growing all the time.

One of my favs to go to when I need a laugh. I love this episode. Even before this episode, I've always enjoyed Spike and Buffy's interactions more than her with Angel or Riley. I'm not talking about romance. Just the most fun and interesting interactions.

Buffy and Spike shared half a brain cell in this episode and neither used it under the spell. They're kind of insufferable together, but I love it. It's so funny.

Since you took the shirt from your sister's closet I guess that also makes it "something borrowed" - perfect! LOVED your reaction to all of Buffy and Spike's scenes. They're absolutely hilarious in this episode. And your jumping to conclusions about Tara and when she'll finally arrive is very adorable and a huge mood.

As demons go D'Hoffryn seems a pretty decent sort. Willow says no, so he just accepts it and gives her a way to contact him if she changes her mind.

The thing with this spell, Willow likes shortcut's. We've seen that before, like when she did her whole Barry Manalo thing with Oz the same evening he took her back after the cheating affair, and with her trying to use magic to de-lust herself and Xander and of course other examples. She want's the payoff with out the work to get there.

This was legit when I started shipping Spuffy and I haven't looked back 🙃

This is one of my favorite episodes, second only to Once More with Feeling. It cements Anya as one of the group, it shows Willow's massive power boost, it starts people thinking about Buffy and Spike in ways they might not have before, it shows how much Buffy loves Giles, it tells us Amy hasn't been forgotten, and it gives us D'Hoffryn's offer to Willow to become a vengeance demon, that her pain is so strong to him that it wreaked of vengeance. I think my absolute favorite line in this is when Willow turns down his offer and he seems to get all menacing and then says, "Oh, well." Makes me laugh every time. Really looking forward to your reaction on Hush, which is definitely in my top ten.

The ship you never knew you wanted?

When I started watching Buffy, I was roughly Buffy's age, now that I'm Giles' approximate age, I feel much more sympathetic to his aggravation dealing with all these young people.

Has anybody noticed that there's a special chemistry between Buffy and Spike??

Its very funny episod. I am couldn't imagine Buffy with Spike. When I saw them together kissing I was shocked. They are so beautiful together and they have chemistry between them.

The horrified, disbelieving laughter and can't-look-away-from-the-trainwreck averted gaze is the exact reaction I had 2 decades ago.

Fun fact I saw the actor who played Giles at my school in Santa Monica. Because I went to the same school his kid went to ages ago 😱🤘 he was in the front office and I was shocked and was too shy to say anything.

I like how everybody always fails to notice the beginning of the episode where Buffy isn't just "taunting" Spike, she's actively flirting with him. That tends to get lost in the wackiness of the second half of the episode.

"How . . . What . . . How?" Possibly the best Xander line so far. There may be better ones to come, but no spoilers. Just monitor the dialog, and you may hear them.

After the Bangel sadness, both in-universe and with what it does to fans and reaction viewers, I am so glad to see Buffy moving on. 😁🤣 But seriously, I do like that the writers waited to do this until after Bangel was wrapped up (at least for viewers as Buffy doesn't remember). My problem with Riley is that he and single episode guest star Owen are too compatible. Xander was right in said 5th episode when he said the person Buffy dates has to know the slayer side of her. Buffy hasn't yet learned that lesson because she has been a "swoony, little schoolgirl" over Angel and their doomed relationship since practically arriving in Sunnydale. So she hasn't had much experience, other than Owen, in dating someone who doesn't know she is the slayer. Great one-liner episode. I love that Spike knows better than Willow's friends that Willow is "hanging on by a thread."

I must have missed something, how did you know/find out about Tara? Something Blue is definitely in the top 5 of funniest episodes. Might be my fave of the funnies

3:15 : Yeah... You still have to wait a looong time for her to appear... at least 1 episode. But it'll worth the waiting ! About that.. you know, I never made the connection about that little scene with Riley giving a hand to a lesbian group, and the fact that it was a declaration from the show to say "lesbian couple exists... maybe it would happen in the show". I always just focused on the fact that it shows Riley is open minded towards sexual identities, and probably could be for other things. Maybe it's because when talking about Willow and Tara foreshadowing, I always had Doppelgangland in mind with Willow's "...and I think I'm kinda gay".

Granted that "Buffy" is a lovely name, take back what you said dear Spike, really great episode! After Angel 1x08 and this taste of Spuffy, Riley has lost a few points, but still a good choice for Buffy who really needs a normal boyfriend (who is not totally normal, but neither is Buffy, XD ). I absolutely love Buffy and I like Spike so much and seeing them frolicking was fantastic even if a lot of cringe, but it can't be that easy to ship them now XD Buffy too sweet when she asks Giles to accompany her to the altar: 3 Willow however has to be really careful with magic and not always use it when she is gripped by pain, anger or the vengeful side of her, this time she risked becoming a revenge demon! D'Hoffryn is a true class demon anyway, do you refuse his offer? He leaves you his talisman so you can call him if you change your mind LOL Do you already know about Tara ???? O.O

Willow and just how dangerous she could be is usually missed behind all the comedy, but she has to be scarily powerful of the demon world is seeing her as a potential ally, and Riley is so much more likable than either Angel or Spike, and I seriously like Spike as a character, but as much as he is so much better than either; he's so clearly at odds with the world that Buffy lives in. kerk

Wait a minute. What do you know about Tara?

I am with you, Riley is a nice guy but Buffy isn't a Disney princess, she is a fighter and morally gray as she grows and she needs a monster in her man to help her find balance within herself. I can't wait for Tara as well, watching their relationship grow and develop was one of the best I have ever seen in any series.

Okay. How do you know about Tara?

If Buffy/Riley had ended outside the dress shop with Riley walking away perplexed....somehow, that feels like a natural and appropriate end to whatever they've been starting here.

I love Spike and of course Buffy but I don't ship them. Never did. Everybody hates Riley bit I liked him for Buffy.

This is Spiffy (spike and Buffy) episode one my absolutely favorites couple and the best more than Bangel in Buffy the vampires slayer because they are so very very cute together and they have so many scenes together and moments more than Angel when he is with Buffy so you can have mind changing of your couple please and you have to realize the fact of Buffy has so much more scenes with Spike than Angel and when you saw a multiple scenes of Buffy kiss Spike and one of them you say stop it’s disturbing you have wrong because that is beautiful and funny to see they kiss before the episode 7 of the season 6 and the final season because in this seasons they are so beautiful and so cute to see them together and I am say and I say again I am always team spiffy (Spike & Buffy)

They are like the worst friends tbh!

I know I'm in a bit of a minority but I'm actually not a big fan of this episode. Not because of the comedy, the comedy is great obviously (that's why people love the episode), but because of the whole "theme" of the episode, about how Willow being sad and suffering is somehow causing the rest of the gang suffering? Like, they are all being fair-weather friends here, and the episode seems to justify it, saying that Willow is in the wrong. (EDIT: And I'm not saying Willow is never in the wrong or anything. Just, not in this episode.) Just not a big fan of the concept is all... But yeah, the comedy is hilarious for sure!
