In hindsight, the Christmas episode from S3 that didn't seem to have a lot of relevance was laying a lot of foundation down for both Buffy and Angel, heh.
The First aka The First Evil was introduced in season 3's Amends as the entity powerful enough to have pulled Angel out of Hell. It also tried to convince Angel to first kill Buffy and then when that failed, himself.
Buffy believed the First was only taking credit for pulling Angel out of he'll. She didn't say that she actually believed that the First was responsible for it.
The first only tried to take credit for pulling Angel out of hell when it was actually THE POWERS THAT BE that brought Angel out of hell. The first is very manipulative mostly because it doesn’t have a corporeal form, all The First can really do is manipulate to get its way.
Allyson Hannigan is just so good. Like when she was evil Willow she was so intimidating but like in that scene where she confronts Andrew, she played it like she was old timid Willow but trying to act intimidating. If that makes sense. The nuance was just so good. She can play the real part and also play the part of acting like she one character trying to play another. idk, just very well done. This show has just had 2 of the absolute best actors in SMG and Allyson and im glad they let them show off their abilities throughout the series
I must have had a pretty good memory to recognize these guys as the same ones in the Amends episode. So it didn't really surprise me when Buffy pointed it out to the gang.
My memory isn’t so good either, don’t feel bad about not remembering The First. Although it was done with Angel first, I’m sure Spike would be pissed about that if he ever knew. Haha
I do have a movie in mind that you may enjoy. It's called legend, this has Tom Cruise and came out in 1985. I believe it was Tom Cruise's first movie actually. It's a little dark, fairies and mythical creatures plus unicorns too.
@@ronfehr7899 I know that. I just chose not to say it's title because others already stated it and will continue doing so, and I thought if Jen (or anyone else who cannot remember which one _Amemds_ is) reads this, perhaps the "Christmas episode" will trigger her/their memory more than the title itself. And if she's further ahead than the upload: 1) I wouldn't know as I don't do Patreon 2) What does it matter how I reference it if #1 is the case or if Jen's further ahead and now remembers who The First is 3) Perhaps it will help others who already watched but cannot remember titles off the top of their head.
@@Buffy8FanSorry. It's totally my fault. I wasn't aware that you may have already read other comments, and I simply assumed that you forgot the title. And thanks for explaining your reasons for wording things as you did. Good points.
I'm pretty sure it wanted Spike because he's the one it's spent the most time with and maybe it was afraid what he would tell Buffy. Sure they have Andrew, but he's kind of a dumb ass and thinks that Warren is haunting him.
Don't worrry Jen! I didn't recognize these guys either when I first saw this. They are from one of the weaker episodes (imo) in S3 (Amends), when The First showed itself as dead people Angel had killed, including miss Calendar.
