Hey Mark! Congrats on finding and purchasing the car for "Project JUSTICE". Just my idea for the name. And we are all anxious to see part 2 of The 88 FLC, if you are doing to purchase the truck and turn it into The Porkchop Express. Please leg us know when the time comes. Please, Thank you and OVER AND OUT!
@@TwinStix Okay cool thanks. And sorry if I'm being a pain about it. And the steering in the car you got, is exactly like the one in Smokey and The Bandit 3.
Mornin Mark, I'm really happy you now have the Buford car to add to the collection, Your like a kid at Christmas though and it's funny as hell to watch. You did get super lucky to find that is that close to movie correct and that is in as good of shape as that one is, good for you Mark I look forward to watching the episodes on that one as well. Just a note to you Mark, in 4 days I'm turning 65 years old and in October I am going to be officially retired, and after 49 years behind the wheel I'm looking forward to it, so hopefully we can get together once in awhile because I do plan on spending some time looking through garage sales and auction sales, I just might be able to find stuff your looking for. Have a great week my friend say hello to Mrs. Twin stix for us.
My god I like this. Mom and dad recorded this movie back in -81. And when I was 4 in -86 I watched the movie 2 times a day 🤣 This movie started my interest in American cars and trucks. And I live in Sweden!!!!!
This is just brilliant, Mark. Great luck finding that car in that condition. Those 70s cars rode nice. I had a 79 Mercury Cougar for many years. Still have the hood ornament somewhere.
18:34 Chevy 305 motor with 145 horsepower. Check the heat riser butterfly valve at the end of the exhaust manifold, they like to stick closed when not used for a while and if the thermac valve is operating at the opening of the air cleaner. lf it still has pancake style catalytic converter, see if it is clogged and then turn the air cleaner lid upside down for more hp’s
They had the bandit run a few years ago and the amount of restored trans ams and firebirds was amazing but unfortunately there was only a couple of le Mans
The ignition and door keys are usually the same cut, the difference is the keyway and you can buy bland keys that have the grooves to fit in both the ignition and doors so you only need a single key. You can also buy aftermarket key cylinders that take either key. Most gm vehicles from that period use the same profile door rubber.
she needs a Pontiac 400 as the most in the movie did and a 3 spoke steering wheel. That is a Pontiac option steering wheel that is in it ,they where mostly used in 76&77 Grand AM's.
These days just go whole hog and spring for the 455. A GM big block will look just fine in there and 400, 454 or 455? Nobody is going to notice the difference with a bone stock air cleaner on it
@@matthewcaughey8898 all Pontiac's from 301 to 455 are same block size a 454 Chevy would be noticed i think. Pontiac made a good 350 too .All Pontiac's are not conceited to be what you call " big blocks"
More I watch your channel, the more I wanna build my own Smokey and the Bandit something. Maybe in a few yrs. Great addition to the fleet. I need visit Alberta just to see.your collection. I'll get to Lesco one yr soon. I enjoy watching as always. Oh, and build the light bar for the roof. Look in Ontario for those blue revolving lights. They were used on plow trucks for years and years.
As a emergency light collector I wish u the best of luck on finding that setup I tried a few years ago but struck out only managed to get a red lens and I’m like I dnt need the red ill take it but I needed blue 😂😂
The light bar looks like a federal signal chain driven twinsonic. Basically there’s one motor in one side and it’s linked via chain to a free wheeling one on the other side. It’s what controls the rotator sequencer. There’s a light bar guy on RU-vid who can most likely tell you exact make and model and if he doesn’t have one can point you in the direction of someone who does
What a find Mark, I am really happy to see that you found the Buford car, you really do look happy. I see a lot more busy Saturdays in your future, congratulations.
you have got a relic there. my dad died in 2008, he was a gm sort of guy ford Torino and two chevy Impala both cars of the 1970's the first one was a 1971 the second was a 1976. good luck in the restoration. rust is the killer of the full frame vehicles of the era. good news is it sounds ideal. will tell you a story spent 6 weeks in 1983 as we took a road trip to Florida. my dad gave me the first opportunity to test out my first driver's license and helped drive the trip as we voyaged around the USA driving from New Hampshire. cars of today lost a lot in comfort then the cars made 52 years ago. seems they even declined a bit from the 1972 to 1976.
Love it Mark, it’s great to see a grown man so happy, lol 😂 love you little dog too he should be in your videos more often, keep up the good work buddy. UK viewer. 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
Mark, I totally love watching your opening sequence on your videos so I can see you passing the camera with Snowman. It sounds and looks so good! Sounds just like clips of the movie truck.
Mark you need an new storage shed out back. Build more than you think you need. Your going to fill it. The smile on my face all through that video. Great to watch
Cool find! Just saw a RU-vid short that Gas Monkey down in Dallas got a BAN ONE plate from the movie. They were made by the movie company to look like real Georgia plates. You also mentioned recently that one of the Trans Ams from the movie is in Nashville. If you go there, check out the railroad museum in town. I know you are not a train guy like I am, but when I was there around 2003, they were restoring Jackie Gleason's private railroad passenger car. This was the second one he owned. It is a Stainless Steel Budd built car, like on VIA's Canadian. Their railroad car business actually sprang out of the truck wheel business and required new manufacturing techniques that all modern cars have done to them. How about Sundance from Movin' On?
Couldn’t stop smiling 🙂 the entire time Mark! So glad you’ve got plenty of projects to complete now sir.😁💪 You are right though, might take some time to locate the lightbar for the Pontiac but yet I bet y’all could design/make one
I can only. Assume. Mrs Twinsticks has given the seal of approval on yet another. Project. Mrs twinstcks. Your def due a holiday of a lifetime you know. After all you have to put up with mark and all his projects. God bless
Sold my 74 Malibu to a Roundy-Rounder and eventually watched my old beater do circuits at the Barrie Raceway - you are right about GM midsizers... My own OCD still makes me want to drive to Edmonton and put a dent in your Aircan, but I digress... Bit of Tongue-weight there, Junior? I watched Pegleg bend some zipties on his pickup bed recently - but you don't need to worry bout that... I'm just enviously ranting... Scores & Kudos, TwinStick - you're gonna blow some Kid's (and Dad's) minds at future car shows. Respect, eh.
Love the car awesome very good opportunity to make Buford’s car I’m actually restoring my own car at 15 years old definitely very good feeling it’s a 1977 f100 ford
Great episode . There’s lot old thinks in Saskatchewan . Can’t wait to see you fix the car up . As far as the lights on top a pair of old yellow beacons would be the same you just need to find the blue covers .
I literally had to pause for a moment at the 6:45 mark when i realized that you were in Lloyd! Had wondered if any of your runs would take ya through and literally seconds later you were looking at the Pete 389 in the truck stop. Pretty cool that the city i live in ended up in one of these vids lol
I agree too nice to cut up. However find just a drivers door and make it movie correct to carry in the back seat. I really enjoy the channel. I grew up in the 70s and drive truck for a living. I can certainly appreciate the old school iron.
Mark about two three weeks ago ago there was a guy on Facebook marketplace that had lots of “ lights “ ! Siren w/ the radio just like you need ! In North Carolina! I will look again to try a locate for ! Hopefully we can find them !
This is no doubt the best video I've seen. All the fantastic inserts from the movie, I was laughing so hard my wife came into the living room asking what's so funny. Then she sat down and asked why I had a big smile on face during the blog. You know, the smile you don't realize you're doing until someone points it out to you? Yeah, that one! This is freaking cool and a diamond in the rough. That car is cherry! So so happy you found this car. Your next search..... start looking for Evel Knievel motorcycle. You know...when Sally 🖕
Hmmmmm, I see lots of rust, but it is the right year, it is complete, it runs and drives. A bit of a "yikes" moment in getting it off of the trailer. I would not expect a run-of-the-mill LeMans to have much in the way of performance. The 1970's cars were about increasing fuel mileage and decreasing emissions. Performance generally came in the form of vinyl decals and upgraded wheels. Getting a movie correct Federal Signal Model 11 Twin Beacon Ray light bar is not going to be cheap. They come up from time to time on eBay, but due to their scarcity today, they are expensive and shipping is expensive.
