Thank you all soo much for the support and constructive criticism. I am still in high school so I have to prioritise a lot of my schoolwork over working on side projects like this, there are so many things I would have liked to change or add to but I just needed to finish this otherwise I would be working on it forever. I absolutely will be taking some of your advice into account for the next thing I make and I do appreciate the feedback :)🪳🦟🐜🔫
You did a great job man! With a little bit of improvement you could really go places. I hope you had fun with this, that's really the most important thing after all lol. I'll toss on a sub and I look forward to what you have in the future! Have a fantastic day!
@@cotillion Rail cannon does 2000 direct damage and 800 high pen splash damage. Bile titan has 3500 health; and you can do 1000 damage to it by taking out the sacks.
When he tossed the strategem beacon in his hand, all I could think of was Halo 2's first trailer where Cortana says "betcha can't stick it." and the Chief responds "you're on"
That little critters movement at 1:13 deserves a whole single video. Incredible puppeteering.. the details with the wings and whena nd how they deploy and the sway of the little front arms after the landing, paired with the way it looks back up. Really impressive. kudos!
Everything about the bile titan was phenomenal, especially the sound. It evokes genuine fear and awe whenever it's on screen, and the way you place the camera makes the helldiver seem small, yet strong. I wish I could say the rest stands up as well as this does, and while it's not bad, not by a long shot, the opening shots, the camera work, and the ungodly majesty of the bile titan set the bar really high, and some of the following shots just can't reach that level I feel. The priming of the stratagem ball is done very well, especially the subtle camera focus change to the bile titan's reaction, and the bugs' reactions thereafter. However once he pulls out the senator (excellent choice of sidearm btw) it feels like the weight of the animation is gone. The gun appears like a toy, like it has no weight, and the recoil impulse appears performative, and while I know it's difficult to convey character when the face is obscured, the character's movements seem robotic and unnatural. Overall, one of the best animations I've seen, and you're clearly incredibly talented, however the sequence from 1:33 to 1:48 just feels like you've compromised in places. I hope I've done the service of making my criticism constructive, and I can't wait to see what you do next!
I think a bit more extension in the arm, and some rigidity in the stance to imply that the Helldiver is bracing for the recoil may help with the floaty feel when they're firing at the bug
I would expand on this by pointing out the torso and shoulders felt really stiff which is likely the majority if the floaty feel we get from the arms but not all. everything else I completely agree with @allenkennedy99 great animation and talent.
10/10 is one of my all-time favourite types of transitions, dude. From a ship, with the subtle uplifting music, to the instant drowning out and pull into reality. Phenomenal.
I've only seen 40k animations come close and that franchise has decades of time and dozens of different animators trying. This is impressive as hell (pun intended)
The slow exposition, then sudden visual and audio transition at 0:58 immediately followed by the titan reveal is straight out of a hollywood movie holy crap, legit gave me chills
So glad we left the “every Helldiver has 15 mins of training” cause pretty much all of them now are seasoned vets of the war, especially with the commandos getting deployed.
This is by far the best animated and best amalgamation of a helldivers live I have seen. Please give me more. This definitely took months of work. Your animations are top shelf and needs no polish. Your story telling without word is absolute perfection to anyone in the know. Thank you for this absolute gem of a small look into the helldivers life.
the pistol could have been a sweet moment for the Senator to have a Big Iron moment from the back and just quick draw shoot 6 bugs. this is soo damn cool! great job!
The animation of the bugs was straight up brilliant. I think the aiming and firing movement of the helldiver was a little stiff in comparison but overall very well done
Holy crap.... sound design was AMAZING!!! the cinematic story telling, the long scene length... ah, man... so much of this is so perfect!!! absolutely amazing, i hope i can make shorts this good one day!!!
I'd watch that movie. Epic vibe. The story I was hoping for was a flashback to when there were 4 Helldivers, the battle that ensued, the semi-surprising sacrifice of 1 (or maybe even 2) of the brave soldiers, and then the inevitable sole survivor exfiltrating back to their ship, only to lock in coordinates for another dive.
What incredible animation. That hunter dodging the titan’s leg was so well done, and that attention to detail is what makes an animation from good to god
A Good animation to show the gritty reality that divers face, plus I do like the wartorn look of the armor and character. They should show more of those or maybe battle damaged 'veteran' versions gotten after doing a certain number of missions in the same armor. A kinda free cosmetic unlock.
Love animation, 3D and 2D, and I gotta say this was a very good one. Some things I might invest more time in is the body of the main character. Overall very well done, but there are areas where he felt robotic. Firm movements with little adjustment or reaction to things happening around or to him. Little details pay off heavily. When he fired his sidearm I would've had more of a physical reaction or when he was walking with the feet scene add a lax but confident stride instead of the cliche stern and stiff movement. Makes a hell of'va difference.
That part with the strategem. That was some Halo 3's Starry Night trailer CHILLS right there. I was just waiting to hear the legendary "Not yet". And the HD2 theme song Still fucking Amazing job!!!!!😍😍😍😍
youve only had 5? i had so many titans and chargers come out of one hole they started clipping inside of eachother and dying, the ragdolling crashed my game
The environmental storytelling of him coming back to the ship and the bug guts/blood being revealed is GREAT. You don't have to show the fight to know he mowed through them and came out alive. 10/10 choice.
imagine they added a feature to allow armor damage. Maybe they give it as an option, or at the end of every match/after being alive for a while your armor can be seen damaged similar to the amount of blood that you can be covered in based on how much damage you take/deal
Fun fact: He abandoned the mission because the railcannon missed and hit a Brood Commander instead, and he was about to have a talk with the guys operating the SS guns.
Damn, at this point it might as well be head canon that all bug players just fight bugs because either they were scarred from experience or live for the hunt. Bots don't give them that.
the animation on the dude is a little wonky but it's preem on the bugs. textures are gorgeous, cinematography is brilliant, lighting, sound, narrative all perfect. great work dude.
yo whats up my guy, i go by The Clanker Slayer in game, obviously i fight bots, i use the Dreadnaught heavy armor, same helmet as the one here in this video, and the bot slayer cap...I hope they add shaders or even color option that we can change so i can have this armor i just said but all the tan parts are black, with this look the helldiver resembles a bot at a quick look or blends in very well with a dark background like what Malevalon Creek had, i always imagined fan art of this being a patrol of bots is walking by and u just see the helldiver (preferably the planet shes on is Malevalon Creek) blending into the tree line, for a fan movie it could be the horror movie skit where the patrol goes by and the second to last bot (most likely one of the small ones that have a pistol and melee weapon) looks over and sees the helldiver but before he can alert the squad the last guy in the patrol (which can be a devastator but preferably a shield devastator) walks infront of him and when he looks back the helldiver is gone and you just see a gunship factory explode in the distance, its wonderful to see these cinematics cause it adds more to the game and its community. Thank you
The fact you aren’t a professional and are turning out work of this quality is crazy! Keep up the amazing work and I look forward to seeing more from you in the future
1. Helldiver just stood there unfazed when the BT came out, "fairness is a democratic value". 2. The BT looked down at the stragtegem beacon, "really, you're going there?"
Excellent job. You captured the indomitable human spirit of Super Earth with this video 🫡🫡🫡🫡 I don’t know why but part of me was waiting for a Stalker to come out of cloaking just for a jump scare lol
