Excellent overview. I am planning on switching out my 5.11 Rush pack for the Fac Track. I'll be one of the few people that will be using this for packing out my HF amateur radio gear (among other things). It's good to know that you can carry a rifle on the outer pouches.The shoulder/waist adjustments are another reason why this bag is perfect for a load out. Thanks!
I came by because the algorithm knows I’m looking at the FAC Track. I’m an amateur radio operator (ham) and have tried so many different solutions for carrying a station in the field. When I carry a small, low power rig the bag doesn’t matter. But when I want to take a 100w radio and support equipment to the field, then I want a bag that can carry that weight and is equipped to support the radio, support equipment, and personal gear to support me. These are meant to carry the PRC-117 series radios. The radio can be operated on the go or with the pack removed and the top opened (for access to the front panel). High Ground Gear makes pouches for the Fox and Golf versions of the PRC-117 rigs, but the Golf version pouches have been out of stock forever. I’m posting this for other hams who wander by looking for options for carrying a Yaesu FT-857 or FT-891 rig for portable ops. Thanks for an excellent review.
I have two of these (multicam and Ranger green) and I’m contemplating selling the green one. I love the bags but I found I don’t need two. The only drawback for me is the weight. It’s about 7 lbs empty and creeping in on 30 lbs+ when packed with what I need, and I’ve already tried to slim that down and offload stuff to a chest rig. I’ve set up my bag to be a get away from home bag. If SHTF, societal collapse, etc and it’s not safe to stay in a populated area, this will get me into the mountains, help keep me concealed, keep me dry and keep me warm. Fleece blanket, hammock, small ratchet straps for a secure mounting system for the hammock,, woobie, camo poncho to go over the hammock, fleece pullover, Stanley pot with two plastic bowls, Stanley metal cup to boil and one plastic cup inside (lost the other one). 50 ft of paracord, map of my side of the state (western MT), spare cold weather beanie, cold/wet weather leg gaiters strapped to the underside of the pack, machete in one of the side sleeves, small detachable pack system for my chest rig if I want to leave my backpack in one location for a small excursion.
One of my friends was debating on getting one of these to replace his Cannae. I have to say it’d be either this or the Little Brother for me for an assault pack. About to go hunting in a week, so I’m trying to get my shit sorted before I go.
I’m a fan of this hydration solution. I don’t know if I always like the hydro pouch, so this gives me the flexibility of not using one and going strictly bottles
Nice review. Thinking of buying this bag. I am wondering if a standard camelback 100 oz bladder will fit in the side sleeves? It looks like it would. Have you tried? Thanks,
Absolutely love Idaho! What I worked out is the Source Tactical ILPS 3L Low Profile Hydration System. It fits under the straps in the inside of the pack. I've been putting other things in the sleeves like saws and fishing poles. I'll be updating the review today and show you what I mean.

4:28 "That's what those pockets are for." ????????? Is that really what you think those pockets are for? Take it from the guy who put a bottle that's less than half a liter into a detachable pouch. Those pouches on the side are for water bottles man! Carry your weapon at the low ready! Or buy a pack with the weapon carry sleeve in the back between the frame and the main compartment of the bag!
