Very professional and well thought out survival kit. I think this was the best one. Perfect for the person that carries it and the invierment one is in. Greetings from Germany
I use a British Army olive green poncho as shelter. It's about the same size as your American one and comes with brass eyelets and press studs. Pretty much bulletproof and has seen me through over twenty years of use and still looks like new!
Agree on the headnet. Here they are necessities. (Florida, USA) Down here we're not likely to freeze, but, you won't sleep cause of the mosquitoes. Great kit!
Great video. I have to get one of those. I was not aware it was for the leg. You scotts and that accent. I could listen for hours. A lass even better. Cheers bro!
Anaa thing with fishing line, probably my primary use of it tbh, is perimeter security measures. Shin high lines (above rabbit height) set to various 'alarm' setups can give you a vital headsup on farmers/wronguns coming up on you. Edit* I use those same bikelights lol, the glow alone was worth the 4 quid, let aone the bulbs light 👍
Those glow in the dark balloons look like a brilliant idea. i will have to see if I can find any here in the States. Thanks for the video. You gave me some good ideas.
Thank you soo much for the review. Great minds think alike so many of the items I already had in my Thermite. However, you gave me a lot of great ideas to make it even better! Blessings to you and yours!!!!
I have wanted one of those Thermite bags for a while. I think after watching your video that it would be small enough not to look odd or attract any type of negative attention yet can hold enough emergency gear along with wallet, money, pens, keys and so on. Nice video. Honestly I love the subject, love talking about survival, but I get tired of seeing people pull out gear and explaining what it is. You explain what and why and your ideas for the stuff and why you have it and you are interesting and engaging.
Mr Mo! Good to see you back buddy! Been far too long! I LOVE this pack mate, not to mention the way you have loaded it out! Full of common sense as usual, and some great new ideas to try with my own pack. Particularly like the rear knife carry pocket. Its on my 'to buy' list when I save up a few pennies for sure! Wish id known you were selling on some of your other gear! lol! All the best and MTFBWY!
Nice kit bro, and it's GREAT to see you back. I hear you about DELL too. How well does that TCP really work as bug repellent? I always say this, but if you can get it, add in ORAJEL with 20% benzocaine. That stuff is some very quick pain relief from bee stings, cuts, blisters, or anything like that.
From the USA: Great kit my friend, i too keep tampons is several different survival kits. Very cool idea with the baloons, ive never seen those before.
i love this bag, i want to get one to keep my basic emergency kit in with my bare basics to keep on me all the time, and then i can carry a backpack with extra stuff, but if i have to dump the backpack or i get seperated from it i can, right now i have a webbelt with a butt pack, knife, canteen and leatherman, which can b worn with a back pack, but it would b nice to replace the butt pack with this, or use in addition too, nice vid, and nice setup
Got my Thermite Versipack coming on Tuesday (yet another addition to my extensive Maxpedition kit). Watched your video to see basically how much USEFUL stuff it can accommodate, and I have to say it's something of a TARDIS (bigger on the inside than the outside). Thanks for this video... and I'm going to subscribe :)
Enjoyed your video. My 72 hr. pack is a bit larger, but same bases covered. BTW, I am an American of the Harvey Clan, subordinate to Keith (northeast lowlander). Cheers, mate.
Nice one ! Very hard for me to understand (german) but I like it. I have a pouch like this and even a woodland-poncho in it too. But not that much stuff ! Mine is already uncomfortable to wear, but this one must be hard. I use mine, when I´m out with backpack. That´s the biggest advantage with this leg pouches. But on the other leg I wear an LMF 2 with self made pouch on the sheath. Good job with the video, good inspiration for me.
I like this kit ,finally someone using potassium , it covers all basic things ,I would add some coffee mate for porridge in the morning and little marmalade pack a couple of Bovril cubes also as alternative to fishing a light bamboo catapult 99 p on e bay would do the trick ,as well as bamboo spoon ,condom, Kevlar tread, snare wire and candle.
I'm in the process of making a 72hr kit, using the Thermite as the base, where on earth did you find your medical Velcro pouch from? I've looked all over and can't find anything that small or thin to fit in that small thin flap compartment.
Great video with lots of redundancy. 16:30 I would suggest adding a system to hold the water filter to the line. Can't trust pockets. Even something simple like tying the W.F together with cordage( both ends) ,and then using key ring with small cordage to tie around the main body of the filter. Then slip the key ring into the cordage that u shown....
Great video - I'm wondering where you got the little red clip-on light? I've found a few similar ones online, but none of them mention the silicone glowing in the dark which seems like a useful feature.
I really liked this vid! Very well put together and the kit is very well thought and all the components justified. Very nice! I subbed. And even if the rest of your vids are crap, I'll watch them because I love to listen your accent. :-) Just kidding - I'm sure they are all great vids, just like this one, and I look forward to catching up on all of them (this is my first!). Cheers mate!
don't know if i missed it in the video but you have a cooking vessel and food to heat in it (porridge etc.) but no cooking utensil, i guess you can eat it by pouring it in your mouth or something. But you might want to consider a titanium spork or anything of the like. Overall a very good video keep it up..
Hello from Canada. I'm sharing this on Facebook as it is the best DIY car survival kit video I've seen. Can store under front car seat and take on any hike. Thank you! Oh, for gift I would add in a small survival book like Collins Gem version of SAS Survival Guide, or the 62 page basic guide "You Alone in the Maine Woods, the Lost Hunter's Guide" which can be ordered free (just pay shipping) from state of Maine Dept. Of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife in U.S.A.
I was looking to invest in my first expensive bag and came across your video excellent job. You've earned a new subscriber. I also sub to Roach, Funky, and Srgt fruitcake. God bless and stay safe.
Awesome pack! Do you think it would be worth adding a small multi-tool with some folding pliers/wire cutters in case you come across some fence wire and need to make something or need to pry something open? It could also give you a backup knife in case you lose the Fallkniven. The only downside would be a bit more weight.
***** i just bought some, online for 2.99$ for a 5 pack so i bought 3, ive seen a ton of "survival" tricks on you tube and other places and its all the same, just with little variations, but those balloons were the first time ive ever been completely blown away by something. its so simple so brilliant and just way out there. and you know what its probably the best signaling tip ive seen, a bunch of flashing multicolored balloons are sure to grab attention for miles at night
Hello, I am getting a windmill lighter at the end of the month to put into my kit. what fuel does it take? I am getting one because I have seen your videos and you have one in them. Another great video.
Hi there thanks again for the views and comments. It take just the normal gas/butane as other lighters. I think I’ve only filled mine two or three times since bought and it will not evaporate from the tank. I’m sure you will be more than happy with it.
@@STIXSURVIVAL Hello, it’s Craig from Ellan Vannin bushcraft, just wanted to let you know that I went with the Orange windmill lighter. What a fantastic product. This is going to be part of a new survival kit I am making. Will keep you up to date. Thanks again.
Great idea on the striker! Very well thought out kit. You may want to consider a little more food and medical though. If you get injured that 3 day trip could be considerably longer. I know from experience walking on a broken ankle is slow and excruciating.
Everyone's needs vary. There is a difference between not dying and not being miserable. When three days walk out in any direction and warm weather a "survival kit" is not essential, but eating is always desirable.
Did I miss the knife or is it not part of the kit? If the rabbits in Scotland come as those in Belgium, some skinning and cleaning will be involved before they are good for consumption. Just a thought ... . ;-)
Can you tell me is the maxpedition gear waterproof, i've been reviewing a lot of bags but i need it to be waterproof because i use a pickup truck so my gear is in the bed at the back, right now i'm using plastic tubs but would prefer a go bag that's waterproof, maybe you could recomend one to me cheers Al.
Hi there mate. No the Maxpedition gear is splash proof but would not take a down pour. There are some very good dry bag rucksacks on the market at the moment perhaps they would be better for the back of a truck. Thanks for watching.
Great Kit M8! Wonderful naration! A recomendation: NEVER put something around your neck! It is a big hazard. Fix it to your clothing or pack! Regards from a "Kraut" *g
I'd like to appreciate your video since it has a lot of information about what BOB should have and how important self-protection is. I was searching the internet today to look for some emergency survival kits and came across this website www.emergencybugoutbags.net/ which offered a lot of cool emergency kits. I just saw your video after that and I loved it. I'm thinking of creating my own BOB soon.
Daniel Wescott These sites are everywhere. A more comprehensive site would be Emergency Essentials. That is not what this video is about. You need to put every day assets together in a usable affordable mobile kit. This individual did an excellent job of that. If you want to have a generic BOB thorwn together for you at an exorbitant price, then there are plenty of sites out there to take your money.
The kit reviews and philosophy is bang on and great.. but I cant help but think you must have a wealth of knowledge to share about using these small packs in the real world. Surely you need more bush skills the less stuff you take.
what kind of light is that on the lanyard? I cant tell what your saying on the video, rewound it a few times, dont mean it as an insult, I dont hear scotsmen very often so its hard to understand.
What sort of red-tape did you have to go through to be able to carry a fixed blade knife in the UK? From what I understand, you can only carry a fixed blade "if you have a good reason" even though there is no official list of "good reasons". It seems like the "good reason" is determined by the policeman confronting you. Is there a special permit that you can get that can get rid of that utterly subjective "judgement call" on the part of the officer?
Hi there and thx for watching. The place I practice is private land, and I have permission to be on it from the land owner. The police will make a judgement based on common sense. If you can convince them your knife is a tool to practice bushcraft, and you are in the woods with your gear it should not be a problem. If you are in public woods you might have a problem. Best thing to do is go to your local station and seek guidance from them.
Thanks for your response. I was pleasantly surprised by your response because it seems like channels that have over 500 or so subscribers have a tough time getting back to questions. Anyhow, I live in the U.S. so we generally don't have to worry about restrictive laws when we are in the back-country (although cities can be very restrictive about blade length and method of opening). It's too bad that in your country your fellow citizens cannot force the legislators to come up with a list of "good reasons" to carry a fixed blade so that it takes away the power of the police to make "judgement calls" (except judgement calls that help the citizen instead of hurting them). But it sounds like you have a faith in the "common sense" of the police officers in your area. So that is very good. Take care. I'll subscribe to your channel. I think I would be interested in seeing you do a video on using a Swiss Army knife (such as the Farmer or Hiker) for scenarios in which you would normally use a fixed blade knife. Take care.
Sorry I could not catch the name of device that was orange and you said only use as emergency signal. Could not catch name or really what it does. Thanks.
Hi there and thx for watching the small orange thing is a storm proof lighter. I carry this to light an emergency fire or signal. The tank will hold the fuel for ever with no evaporation.
I want a military grade survival kit. One that has almost everything Just so if the world ends all me neighbors can be like "awww no fair fucker you got all kinds of cool shit that might save you! And then I will be like "ha ha ha you fuckers I showed you didn't I?" Afterwards the group will inevitably raid and probably behead me after I run out of ammo but it's the thought that counts. And that thought in your last moments and the rare end of the world bragging rights, is well worth the money in terms of your last couple minutes of life.
where did u get that canteen kit, and what make is it? i am having trouble finding a canteen that is getting good reviews. if anyone can recommend a good one, i would appreciate it.
Hi there Alan and thanks for watching. Not sure where your from? If you live in the UK have a wee look at the Bushcraft store. They now sell the Pathfinder canteen, which I now have two. These are by far the best if its a canteen type bottle you are looking for. Expensive but should last a lifetime.
thanks for responding, i live in the detroit area. i found a place online that carries pathfinder. i think this is the first video of yours i have seen. i subscrided and look fwd to watching more vids. thx for recomending this gear.
alan spurlock You can also find a stainless steel canteen at Survival resources dot com. John Mccann, owner, is a veteran and almost everything he sells is USA made. He carries the pathfinder canteen. He also has a survival school.
