My belt kit: knife, 3 pouches of 3 each 5.56 30 round mags, advanced first aid kit, fire making/flashlight, canteen and cup, poo kit. But I've learned a lot from you guys.
Your Tourniquet is for blood draw or putting in an IV. Same idea as the old school rubber tubbing. Trauma tourniquet is a total other bit of kit. C.A.T. Tourniquets usually the best, don’t buy anything cheap or plastic online, get the one with the metal U type clasp for the tension rod.
Watching this makes me want to pack my gear and just walk off into the wildness. Problem is I ain’t got a clue and probably last a few hours. I’m learning don’t start.
Belt kit survival priorities for SHTF/CIVIL CHAOS. Concept of use- a belt kit that you can have ready to go in a cupboard, boot of the car etc. A lot of belt systems derive from an operator embedded in a large military system, this system assumes no support and might be all you have if no time for organisation. Threats to life in order 1) hypoxia aka -other people 2) hypothermia 3) dehydration, dirty water 4) starvation 5) loneliness 1)Defence- disorientation navigation- first you need to move to safety and away from danger/ zombies. headtorch, map and compass, whistle to signal location, rally allies. a decent machete/large camp knife/small axe is a must to protect yourself during initial bug out and initial phase of breakdown rule of law. 2)Shelter- blade as above+ a small hand saw eg Bahco Laplander for shelter, defensive structure, firewoood prep eg stakes, spears, palisades, fuel. Decent poncho- water proof-most versatile piece of kit, wear it, make bashas etc, hammock. Bothy bag 2-man, wind and cold proof, very light, incredibly effective as instant wind chill excluder, stealthy or high vis rescue, heat with small tea light (with ventilation obvs). Use anywhere no poles or string needed. Small neoprene/ polythene sit mat (eg strong shopping bag fill with dry grass leaves etc, like a pillow) Protect from conductive heat loss when sitting. Getting a wet arse. 3)Water- collection, purification, storage. 2xWater bottles puritabs, Swedish mess kit. Use bottles/poncho to collect, Swedish mess tin to boil. Note boiled water inside bottle wrapped in clothing placed next to femoral vein (in your groin next to gentleman vegtables)= very effective Vs hypothermia 4)Food- pemmican, energy bars, brew kit. Fishing line and hooks. Snare wire. Knowlege of wild edibles eg mushrooms. 5) Fire- Ignition system- fire steel+ striker+ tinder, cigarette lighters x2 cooking system Swedish trangia mess tin system can be used with trangia or twig fire, large tin functions as Billy can over larger fire if non tactical phase. Essential when modern fuel not available. Water purification, hot water bottle heating, food cooking, making safe any small game, old meat, that might have parasites or gone a bit off. 6) first aid kit 7) Morale kit- a couple of dice, small pack playing cards, packet of rolling tobacco+papers. Sweets. Last item not to be underestimated, sharing, building a team, having a laugh = team cohesion, something worth fighting for, mutual defence. Friendship. Special friend cuddles. Babies. Regeneration of civilisation.
Great video mate! Former Royal Engineers, gave me a nostalgia trip! Good to see lads getting out there and getting themselves trained up again. Wish I had a group to do that with
ahh good man !!!! lol, we took over a yank position, they left loads of crap, but we got some M16 mags, two bayonets and bits of sealed rations. my boss was well pissed off, so we got two bin bags and he delivered it back to their guardhouse.
love the videos funky! never change. the smart ass in me has to say however that no one packs 200 lbs of kit for a 10 hrs in the woods like the Brits do!
To your rucksack problem funky. Have you ever seen the British army. rucksack other arms. It's 50l it takes the plce day sacks on the side's and can take another one on the top. And there is straps for your roll mat on the bottom Ps. Thanks for taking the time to make great video's
Thanks funky. Great filming, especially the opening shots. Wow, can see how well the dpm works in the foliage at this time of year. Your man full on disappeared in the hedgerow, could only see his hands. You guys looked like a real unit out there.
The 'oblong' strike pattern from the firing pin may mean the round(s) were fired from a Bren. They left an indent like that shown rather than the usual more rounded indentation.
good video, would like to have joined you but at 74 i may have slowed you down, although i may have stayed nearer the tree cover still have some uniform left but with a few holes, it was a honour great to serve the "Regiment"
Awesome video Darren! Good to see you guys out and about honing your tactics/skills. I definitely agree that DPM blends in much better than MTP. Good stuff going over yours and Paul's belt kit. Always test your gear and always make changes and modifications as you go. Take care buddy. Ken
Great to see Paul back on his pegs Funky, he's had a shit time of it. I see the RP and Mod plod did a shit house job on opsec during the sneaky beaky patrol lol, good drills. I reckon you are looking more and more like Captain Price as the years go on lol. Stay frosty amigo. Cheers Moose.
Good to see you out again Funky, looks like fun. Just what you need in these crazy times. Nice to see Neanderthal too. I did manage to buy a load of silver from that site you mentioned a while back....
Nice trip down memory lane for a lot of us there, no place names mentioned to keep your op sec! Noted the comment on the pack size between what you use now and the full bergan. Had the same problem and being of a similar age I am not keen on humping HGV levels of kit on my back anymore. So I go a Karrimor SF Odin 75ltr and it works well all year around, with room for winter kit/sleeping bag/bivvy etc. I also use the Thor as my go bag these days as the clamshell open up idea works well when you want to access kit end of the day without the dig deep sessions from the top! Anyhow, good to see you out and about and you never know I might pop down one day to say hello!
Darren two possible kit suggestions: The DPM Other Arms bergen with up to four rocket pouches and DPM tactical vest instead of shoulder harness on the belt kit might answer your questions. But hell its good to see you back!
Excellent, got three of your vids lined up, which I'll watch, back to back, and chill for the next 4+ hrs. It's what Sunday afternoons were made for. Beers and scran on standby. Bliss! 🤪🍺🍕🥪😂😂 Was tryna think who you reminded me of. Donald Sutherland, the actor. It's the eyes mate...never still, clock everything.
Darren, I am pushing 58 years old and I pack with camera gear around 55 lbs for a normal excursion. It's good to see you boys packing the weight. I don't play with these ultra light trekkers they don't make sense to me. Cheers from the Smokey Mountains.
Good to see you back out and about big man enjoyed the video looking forward to the next one and I've sub two the other two channels that where with you so going to check them out from david in Scotland
great to see you being awesome as norm with what's happen with last yr and this yr great vid funky missed watching you being funky in the woods and being great as per and greetings from Suffolk
So I've been in for 12 years. Had DPM for a few and now obviously in MTP. Anecdote for you three weeks ago in the woods of Essex helping out on a kids camp and one of them grabbed me instead of a branch she the jumped into the water she was trying to avoid lol. Anyway before she came past 20-25 people went past me without seeing me. I think it's all about how you use the cam. Use it right and it will work. Honestly in my opinion MTP is the way to go. Again though funky it's everyone has an option.
Great vid Funky. Noticed you didn’t use the velcro option on your belt kit pouches. Nice touch. Velcro may be more convenient, but it makes a hell of a noise when you don’t want it to.
Thoroughly enjoyable hour spent there good sir. Just texted a couple of the lads saying we must get out again soon. Looking forward to seeing future similar adventures. Regards from Eire.
@@333ridge Yeah after The Olaf died I sorta lost my sh**.. Im back now and all is well. I even have a forum now. Link is at my channel trailer if you're interested..
Just laying low during this triple reverse psy-op bro, it's easy for me to get excited and run my mouth on social media about what's going on so I banned myself from the beginning. I didn't even give fb a " I told you so" I just vanished , but I will pop up now and then on a borrowed device to watch the important stuff ...hence I'm here haha , you take care down under bro, I hear you just got a bill to keep you locked down till 2023 !? Probably internet nonsense but there's usually a half truth. Hope you and yours are well mate .
Great vid. Yes vote for dog biscuits with the chicken and liver pate! I always carry a couple of cotton wool makeup type discs. Pull it out and it's excellent tinder in an emergency.
Funky I was born in 1962 and I spent 18 year's in the special forces sas I still go out doing stuff like you do and I wish I was thar training with the 3 off you,, take care all off you stay safe
Just showing whatever age you are that it’s just a number we all get outdoors and act like kids :) amazing video funky 👌 hopefully see you at the Prepper Meet
That tourniquet is not what you think it is. It looks like it’s intended to assist in taking bloods or cannulation. It will not provide sufficient pressure to stop a catastrophic bleed especially on a muscular leg. You need something with a windlass or ratchet system such as a SOF-T or CATT. Also buy them from a reputable medical supplier not eBay or Amazon as there are lots of fakes out there.
@@GavTatu LOL You dont know what you've missed. It was a sweet and savory type deal. I miss those Fruit biscuit. They kept the biscuit browns, and all they do is make you crap literally.
@@youngg1068 i do remember actually, old 10 man rat pack, some tins of chicken and adding some of the marmalade to it... chicken a' la orange.... that was tasty !
Good to see you back on here chap, I hope all is well. I did a little happy dance today, Aldi have purple sprouting broccoli in :D Roll on the summer, roll on the meet, Whoop whoop, Ardley here we come! I can't wait :D Is there going to be a raffle this year??? btw, you can't be knocking the fizzy coke bottles mate, they are one of my faves :P
Hey bud, I guess to get access to that place you need to be in touch with the right person. I would love to be able to have a roam about there👍 hope you r ok ATB Rob
Just one question, where did you get your water bottle from? Got a birthday coming up and I think this would be a great gift. Also great to see another video from you. Looking healthy and all in one piece 👍
I'm unsure what bottle you're talking about, but it is probably a British Army issued pattern 58 Osprey bottle. There are a lot of fakes out there so be sure to buy a genuine one. Alternatively, it could be the Survivor 58 which is same as the Osprey bottle but it is flexible and comes with an in-built water filter. They are hard to find, and are generally not available for sale to general public.
@@ac-nn3by It looks like you can only get that Survivor 58 bottle with filter from purehydration.com, if production overruns, they may sell to the general public. I have applied/sent a request myself. Anyone know if they supply them in biulk to a store/shop occasionally? Would really like to pick up one.
