He is such a sterling singer and today considered as one of the Philippines' most prized vocalists (among the males and females together). But it hasn't always been that way, having a superstar status. He's a lad from the countryside, a farmer whose father was also a farmer. Unlike in western countries where being a farmer connotes wealth, here it's associated with being poor. Though he was one of the winners in a national talent show way back and had a hit song after that, he was considered underrated because he was many times skimmed over in favor of other artists; maybe his humble beginnings had something to do with that. But our beloved Wish 107.5 took notice and his hit cover "One Day" catapulted him to fame and further gave him a hand up by producing his first sold-out concert under the same title. That and the perfect trifecta of Budakhel cemented his standing in our musical landscape. Bugoy, like many of our artists, can kill any genre. He was invited in that local show and Bugoy was called to sing for him at that time I think he was 18 or something.
