to me the most common reasons why players get pissed is i decided to be semi smart with the npc mobs and flank the part or use range attacks to GTMF (Geek the Mage First) Shadowrun term ... yeah i apply shadowrun logic to my D&D Games and the mage players tend to get pissed but they can be the biggest threat do i litteraly just completely ignore the and let them fucken have there way? I Think not!
@@UNSCrearadmiral i just mention the most common ways honesty and how some DMS need to learn to not worrie so much if players go out of bounds some times and othertimes learn how to curb ther eplayers in line even if it breaks character slightly.
@@UNSCrearadmiral personaly im the type of DM that tends ot think of the world and other events going on and make the world a move living place then say just think of an adventure this way my players kinda gets to pick choose whats going on
What'd of been sick is at the end instead, you have a convoy that is operated by US Black Ops units come to "exfil" the QRF team. When the Black Ops team arrives, they go from friendly to enemy, and purge the QRF team. Reason they do this is to silence any word of this op getting out, kinda like what you see in Hollywood Horror movies where the government kills the survivors.
@@elon1928 because something like this getting lose, that the military is toying with genetics or aliens or what have you in this scenario, would cause MAJOR chaos and backlash. It'd be easier to tie up loose ends and tell the black ops unit that this unit in this op is a "rogue unit", instead of telling them exactly what went on and have people freak out. Same logic with Area 51, keep the things done inside silent and anyone who leaks pretty much get eliminated.
Honest opinion here, when the black hawk went down and lengthened the OP, the thought that acrossed my mind was: "Welp, time to DND Dungeon Master the shit out of this!"
There's always that _one_ guy you know is just going to be jackassingly annoying and immersion breaking. I knew who that _one_ guy would be as soon as I heard a nasily voice screech 'That's an anomaly, that's an anomaly' repeatedly.
It's even worse because that potentially ruined everyone else's perception of the anomalies. Had he not said anything so negatively about them by yelping out, the playerbase might have actually had more interaction with some.
Can we leave those players back at base? So they don't ruin it for everyone else like guard duty while everyone else had fun? lol They can still join but not you know not go out of base and maybe send some attacks at base while the others do the mission objectives and stuff.
Yeah the last compound should just be littered with zombies, that rush out moment they open the gates, cause obviously these guys didnt do recon with helo.
Damn. I wanna take place in this kind of op as a man, that they found while doing operation, but he doesnot speak english at all (pretty close to truth, btw...), he speaks only Russian, but at the same time he knows the Zone like the back of his hand and can be useful as a guide. All 3 of those facts are truth, I have a huge amount of hours in STALLKER, my native language is Russian and I can understand English very good (like, 95ish%) but for the lack of speaking practice I dont _speak_ English at all.
Also almost forgot Liru if the playerbase is being dumb with say a helicopter you could in theory take away the heli's fuel if say a .50 cal round hit the fuel tank just a thought
Dude as a DM i can sympathize with that pull out shit. The amount of work that u smack into these ops is incredible. So as a big fan of the liruverse aesthetics i wanna say i rly appreciate it.
Welp. You did your best. And you can't force people to not be idiots. I personally liked the immersion, sorry it didn't turn out the way it should have.
MTF Tau-2-Bravo "The Clusterfuck" The dumping ground for MTF troopers with discipline problems. Any trooper with a history of discipline problems or who is otherwise found to be unable to carry out their duties satisfactorily may find themselves placed here at the discretion of their superiors. Tau-2-bravo can consists of anywhere from a single platoon to a company sized element with attached transportation and fire support. The MTF due to the nature of 'recruitment' unique in and named for its almost complete lack of anything approaching competent internal leadership with troopers often electing to simply follow the individual ahead of them. Given the limitation's imposed by the unit's particular organisation and doctrine it is employed almost entirely in the role of the proverbial canary in a coal mine. If a situation presents to many unknowns it is often far to risky or wasteful to insert the highly trained, well equipped and competently lead task-forces that our other MTF units represent into situations that have just as much of a chance of resulting in nothing but a wild goose chase as they do an encounter with a previously unknown, possibly Keter, level SCP. The existance of Tau-2-Bravo gives agents in the field options when presented with such a scenario; said agent can call in the MTF and simply provide them with a route to follow or an area to operate in with a directive to walk around until, "spooky shit happens." As a result, due to frequency of deployment and despite often atrociously high casualties Tau-2-Bravo is credited with the elimination or containment, whether through sheer massed firepower or simply because enough data was gathered from the resulting slaughter, of a shocking number of deadly previously unknown phenomenon. Please note that it is strongly recommended that Tau-2-Bravo only be deployed in area's containing civilian populations once said populations are confirmed to be evacuated or at the very least, secured in their homes. With these idiots all it takes is for one of them to start shooting is a stray cat jumping out from behind a bin and if one starts shooting they all start shooting, such incidents almost invariably lead to both massive civilian and MTF Casualties.
Would have loved to see some bloodsuckers or something similar added to the mix, maybe pressure them more with horror like enemies. Hope you make another one sometime soon. will watch
Now you know how I felt making maps for Halo Reach, and trying to get people to play. People are bad at the game, so they blame the map rather than themselves. Had an Infection map called 'Run From Rampancy' that turned the entirety of Forge World into a Halo CE Flood escape campaign. Told them at the start that staying at the initial spawn was not a good idea, as there was no ammo there, and that they should proceed through the map ASAP, because this was a direct simulation of Flood. What do they do? They stayed at spawn, kill the two Flood, wonder where the Flood went to for a couple minutes, and then all die from sniper and rocket fire. My Flood were immune to headshots (like in Halo CE and 2), they didn't have shields, and could spawn with any weapon, pick up any, and drive vehicles. It was like they didn't play Halo before, they should have known how dangerous Flood actually were. These weren't normal Infection zombies. These are the "Lol, SURPRISE! Rocket launcher!" zombies. Eventually, a few play throughs later, people started to get it. The objective is to RUN. From. Rampancy. The Flood had a few teleporter shortcuts, and had access to certain vehicles and weapons before the survivors did. However, the survivors had very BattlefrontClassic-ish loadouts to start with. The idea was to have them work together to overcome the stacked odds before they ran out of ammo, scavenging weapons and vehicles to eventually make it to a Falcon helicopter. Sure, they had snipers and rockets and all manner of weapons to pick from, but considering the Flood had access to power weapons and vehicles themselves, it was balanced. Even when the survivors captured the Falcons, the Flood could still easily kill them if the pilot ain't smart. But having the Falcon was definitely an advantage worth seizing. Even when the Flood captured the Falcons themselves, survivors did spawn with heavy weapons too, so again balanced. It was lots of fun when people finally understood the concept, and the Flood players weren't clueless.
Wow, why have I never found awesome Reach map creators like you? All the map creators were terrible, or just outright boring. Good work, sounds like an awesome mission!
You should make some of the anomalies invisible for extra spook next time. Could be fun if they're moving in a column and someone in the front just vanishes. Limiting the invis to tp ones only since i think the others would be just unfair.
An entire delta force team and a ranger team just said fuck our buddy’s that are either dead or alive we are scared we’re out of here. Did not bring family closure. Didn’t uncover any answers. Now bugs will take over.
Liru not gonna lie of i were you I'd have hella swarmed them with every bug possible or make them try and retreat back to the mission area, probably wouldn't be allowed but hey
You should have had hordes of zombies come after the loud noises. Like make them guess that "hey the moment we start shooting, shit starts coming at us." It changes their dynamics and forces them to think about shooting or it will attract unwanted attention.
Its a shame to see someone spend so mutch time on a map and they are not going to play it out. When i saw that smoked off compund i was so exided to see the ending... Well atleast u get a sub from me! Keep it up!
Idk how Liru would do it but I would love to see an initial zombie outbreak OP where the have to defend a safe zone and/or have small teams go in to evacuate civis. Don't know it's possible but I love the idea
To play something like this would be the most exciting thing ever I wish I was in there just to keep those bastards pushing forward to check out all the sites and solve the mystery
Question to clear something up, were the people in the helicopters and such the spec ops force from the last operation. Just curious of what the story behind/what caused this operation to happen.
shamrockSardonic no I know who it is I was just wondering what were the objectives/crashed helicopters and such doing out there, why were the zombies and bugs and such on them, and all of that pizzazz.
As I said: 506th Ops =/= Liru's Playerbase Ops. They are in no way connected. There is no story connection between them. They are completely different things.
Not sure if you've do this already but you should do a zombie survival situation were the playerbase has pretty shit weapons and the ability to build small trenches, towers and pillboxes and you as the Zeus, launch waves of the undead at them and you give them a small break to heal or whatever and then hit them harder.
yeah.. shit like this happens even in way more expensive and time consuming live action roleplay games that requires people to go to another region and stuff.. so i know how damn frustrating this is. But i must say this was one interesting operation. not much to complain at all
at the end i would have made them do a hold out mission and just spawned tons of zombies and bugs so that it was more of a (oh you want to leave? ...then you leave in a body bag!).
Yeah, I fucking hear that... When in doubt just copy and repaste them when they're not in line of site or use smoke grenades to conceal them and do it. That's the best I can say XD
I dont want to go back in the video to see if what I heard was accurate but did that man say "If they get close to you, embrace the suck, you are going to die"?? I hope so
I vote a repeat with the 506th or the 212th. preferably the 506th. I do enjoy watching hardcore military guys deal with atypical enemies. Kinda a Fuck you to movie media making military useless because "plot" Bjornholm is a good example.
You need a meta-gaming gets your shit fucked up rule. Then you could justifiably teleport Mr. "That's an anomaly" 2 km straight up or hit him with a lightening bolt. "WTF Wiwu I was just being a immersion breaking little shit." "You stepped in an anomaly with no visible indications deal with it."
Wow, that was...pretty terrible. Not to be mean, but they didn't really seem to get 'into it' like the 506th did with this style of thing. The incident at the beginning where everyone was fucking with the pilots light so he couldn't see really foreshadowed the stupidity to come. Still, great OP in my eyes, really enjoy watching these/similar types of OPs. Especially when the players get into the atmosphere of it.
Nah I was feeling a bit down because they did take the piss, but hey, it just means I wont do it again with them, or just be less babying and wipe them all *shrugs*
TBH, even as a viewer it was quite annoying. Especially because it looked like a lot of effort had gone into making each of the sites different/interesting. I don't blame you if you don't do another like this with them, but know that there are quite a few viewers (myself included) who like/appreciate these types of OPs and the effort taken to make them more...atmospheric. Just saying, quite a stark contrast between this and how the 506th took this type of mission. IIRC one even said it was the best OP they ever played. Guess it really depends on getting into the mood/mindset to do an OP like this...eh, but I'm rambling at this point. Keep up the great OPs!
damn it was looking good at first until the players started to avoided everything, the RP was nice, just kinda wished the player were going to try do a little RP as well , like walk into a meat grinder on purpose.
damn if they're a delta or ranger qrf the least you could do is give them 416s for the deltas and block 2s for the rangers with opscores not standard army. smh
zombie + bug swarm on exit landing for lols :D see how they reacted. could you nuke the town? nuking to cover / a shet ton of explosives to "contain" the situation is kinda common in things XD
For deserting like that you should have punished them with several large hordes of zombies they would have to fight off until the helicopter arrived to pick them up. I mean come on the left a man behind! Whatever happened to "No man is left behind!"? They were cowards end of story.
