Bugz-Eye Mesh Goggles: amzn.to/1nFdRuE
Today I wanna talk to you about these little Bugz goggles. I saw these first over at Cody's RU-vid channel on Wranglerstar and they caught my attention. I don't know if you do a lot of work with a chain saw, but that is specifically is why I bought these. I have always found an excuse to avoid using the safety goggles.
Usually it was because they'd fall off. I had the kind that were just like actual eye glasses and I'd be swinging my head around, left and right, or bending over, and they'd fall off my face. I also had a problem with the goggles kind always fogging up. It didn't matter about having special vents on the side or whatever else. It seemed like when there was no way to get air between my face and the goggle itself that it would fog up and I got frustrated with those. So, I saw Cody wearing these a long time ago over on Wranglerstar's RU-vid channel, and decided that I would invest in them for all of the work I'm gonna do this fall using my chainsaw.
Today, I promised my family that we would have a fire in our fire pit outside, so the kids have been bringing up fallen down sticks and saplings from the woods, and now I'm gonna cut those up small enough to actually make use of them in the fire pit and I thought we'd go ahead and give these Bugz goggles a try. So what makes these different? Well, the lenses, as it were, are actually like a synthetic mesh, almost like a hardware cloth, that's glued onto the front where the plastic lenses would typically be on safety goggles. The rest of it is pretty standard. It has a nice elastic band to keep it on your head, and I am a little skeptical about the foam cushioning, because it appears to just be glued onto the plastic frame. I'm not sure just how long or well that's gonna stand up. I may have to make sure that I remember not to store these in my shed over our hot and humid summers. I don't know how well that glue will stand up to that, but time will tell. Right now I'm interested in making sure that wood doesn't hit my eyes, and that my safety goggles don't fog up, so let's give it a try.
Well, there we have it. Now I know that cutting firewood isn’t anything impressive as far as chainsawing goes. Most of it was pretty well rotted wood that's been sitting out on the forest floor for maybe longer than a year. I just wanted to get it cut up so that we could have a little family fire out in our fire pit in the back yard tonight, but the test was for these Bugz goggles, and I'm impressed. Obviously it was impossible for them to fog up, so I didn't have to deal with that. I never got even the smallest piece of particle in my eye, so I presume that worked perfectly fine, and as much as I may be concerned about whether or not this glue will hold up over time, something happened that I had not considered before.
I sweat pretty well, and this foam kept every drop of sweat out of my eyes, and that is something I was not shopping for, but I'm glad that I got. So, you know what? I think these are pretty good. Here is a link to find them to save you the hassle of searching for them: amzn.to/1nFdRuE. Thank you for joining us, and we'll have a lot more chainsawing and clearing happening throughout the rest of winter, so be sure you stay tuned.

Great video Jared! how was the clarity? They look cool, but was the vision kind of foggy? Or are they so close to your eye that your brain doesn't register the mesh.

*****, it doesn't register mesh - but everything is slightly shaded, but clear - similar to sun glasses.

Waiting on mine now. More excited about preventing sweat from getting into my eyes than the intended purpose now. Thanks!

You can see the screen if you try but focusing on your work makes it less noticeable. However, they do impair your vision. The question is...do regular safety glasses fog where you live, if not clear goggles are better. Mine fog up quickly while my bugz are clear enough to safely work all day. They don't stop every irritant but they are better than nothing.

Iexpedite1, I didn't notice any impaired vision. Things were a bit shaded - a bit like wearing sunglasses - but I didn't find it distracting or dangerous. Since goggles do fog up on me and both goggles and glasses get scratched up easily on me as well - I still like these screened goggles best.

I think I will look out for a pair of these when I'm back in the UK next month, I also saw them on Cody's channel. Nice to see you starting the chainsaw in what I consider the correct manner ie: on the ground with your foot in the handle and the chainbrake on!

J&J Acres One question...when you put them on does it seem like you are looking through a screen or does it just blend all together...I guess what I am asking is...does you eyes fixate on the screen or does it just look normal?
@JandjacresNet
@JandjacresNet 10 лет назад
It looks shaded - not much unlike looking through sunglasses. I could not "see the screen".

Did u get the 20 or 30 mesh? I got some 30s recently for tree climbing and stump grinding since I recently got contacts for the first time in 7 year. I'm really impressed with them so far compared to the cheapos

Great review, I was wondering about the restricted visibility but reading lower in the comments that question is answered. Is that a husky 435 your using to block those limbs?

I decided to try out a piece of equipment I first saw over on wranglerstar's RU-vid Channel. First impressions are that this is a proper piece of safety equipment. Watch the review below: Bugz-Eye Goggles Review - Chainsawing Firewood
