You have a beautiful car and you did it perfect in my opinion. I bought a '70 GS recently. I think it is just gorgeous. It is an original GS 350 but has had a 455 put in it and of course the matching 455 emblems on the fenders. I think the Buick 350 is a really great engine though and they make great power in that size range. I actually have a '70 Skylark parts car and I am contemplating pulling and rebuilding the 350 out of it and putting it in the GS to get it back closer to it's original form. And with some great parts from T/A performance it would run really strong too. One upgrade you might make. Even if you have a good battery and starter, when you have some compression, a big cam and a lot of ignition timing the engine will have a hard time cranking. I always go and get 2/0 cable from my local NAPA as well as solder type battery terminals and cable ends. I run the negative to the engine block and of course the positive to the starter and then use 10 gauge wire to ground the engine block or heads to the frame and body and the battery to them as well. You would be amazed if everything else is the same, battery, starter and engine, how much faster the engine will crank in all conditions, especially when hot. I found this out after building and racing high compression engines in my dirt track cars during the summer months. Everybody in the pits would have a hard time getting started when races were close to each other, including me. That is until I switched to the heavier cables after a suggestion from an old guy. His suggestion was like a magic bullet.
Thx for your suggestions and compliments, since this video I have installed a second battery, and more ground connections using 0 cable, as well as an on board trickle charger. The single battery was not adequate capacity for the sound system and electric fans. If you do decide to build a 350, don't use generic parts from a local part store, better off using parts from ta instead trust me, they are expensive but it is worth it
Great info. I'm a huge 350 fan. I think it is one of the best engines ever. Put a Kenne-Bell cam in my 70 350 & outran an SS396 Chevelle. With the stock 2bbl 🤣 BITD 😉
Any idea what sort of power that the engine makes? I had a '76 350 in my '87 Regal but it's out now and needs a full rebuild. The last shop (over 10 years ago) did a very poor job and everything needs to be redone. It has eaten 2 camshafts and the bearings all look rough. I am wondering if I should try to install an LS-based truck engine instead.
This is the original engine, I tore it down and built using a mild cam, ta212 rebuild the heads, port and polished, dual plane intake using a 800 cfm edelbrock carb, new lifters, push rods, motor only had 30k miles on it, I haven't dyno it yet but I think I'm pushing 300hp maybe 325hp
Most parts came from TA proformance.con TA 212 cam for buick 350 High flow water pump Dual plane intake manifold Custom valve covers from TA Lifters, push rods and rocker arms (oem) Oil pump integrated timing chain cover Timing chain and sprockets Rear main seal Edelbrock 600cfm carb e-choke 3 core Radiator with 12" electric fans came from ebay
