This is probably the most informative video I've ever watched. A real guide on how to start the process and what you're going to need before you even begin selling that no one ever touches on. Most people just speak words and give the usual spiel on the "grind" mindset you have to create, and not a true process. This will definitely help a lot of people including myself, thank you Steve.

OMG you literally took those words out of my mouth, this is exactly the idea i have been trying to explain to my parents. After watching your videos along with other videos and talking to people at car meets I had this idea of an exhaust company about a month ago. I am only 18 and at the beginning of learning about business. It was really cool and inspiring to see someone who's made it as a business owner talk about an idea that I had. My parents are willing to invest in me learning as much as possible. If there's a way I could spend a week or two shadowing you please let me know how we could make this work.

Great info! I started an ebike business just over a year ago after I built my first ebike on YT back in 2015. I was able to start monetizing at the time but when YT changed the requirements on watch time hours etc... that hurt because it shut me down and I lost monetization. I did make enough to buy a new go pro which was great after 3 years of monetization. I read about how the boom is coming for e-bikes that's why I started the business. I have been awarded a prime contract for the state and love helping them, but they are only buying a few a year. I'm keeping the business open just because I enjoy supporting their efforts and it helps me feel like I belong to the team. Recovering from a work injury last May so my business efforts are limited currently but on the up and up :)

Hey there Steve and crew. First off, I’ve seen every one of your videos, love the way you run your companies, love what you guys do for the public, and in that regard I have a very similar mindset. I started up a business earlier this year and have learned a lot since. I have a few other companies/products/services in mind that are ready to start building that will provide a lot of value for customers at a global scale, too. My question for you is; have you ever run into a situation where you’ve spread yourself too thin (regarding how many different businesses you’ve tried to start up/invest in) and what would be the best approach to grow all of them without another one being pushed to the back burner and failing? PS: when my companies take me to new heights, I’m making my way down from Canada to you guys so you, the crew, and the public can drive my rare cars too ❤

Happens all the time. When I do, I take a look at what is most core to the business, and what generates the most stability or cash/sales, and limit my focus to that. I pause any other projects to ensure focus is put where it belongs. Hiring qualified people to take over lower level work absolutely helps, too.

Honestly, you don’t even need solid ideas. You can just look at what’s working and do the same. Even better if you live in a country that is usually a couple years behind when new things come up. Banks are your friend , you need funds. You need to take advantage of every oportunity. Finding the people to work with can be one of the hardest things imo.

Hey Steve, I stumbled across our channel only recently and have been glued to it ever since. I am an aspiring entrepreneur and have created multiple businesses that haven't quite lifted off the ground. I started with videography and media, then ventured into designing my own automatic watches (automotive themed), then some drop shipping, and now I have a POD Etsy store that has turned a little bit of profit. But I am not 100% behind my current ventures and now I am at a crossroads of where I want to go with my entrepreneur journey. I have a MAJOR custom wheel obsession. I have helped numerous friends and family pick out the right aftermarket wheels and every single person has been overly satisfied. I love wheels and the aftermarket scene that surrounds them. I have gone through dozens of wheels on my personal vehicles and learned a ton about fitment and style and the differences between styles and brands. I want to start my own wheel company or company that is based around the aftermarket wheel game. My first thought was lugnuts and introducing a new version of lugnuts or a specific style that could get affordable titanium lugnuts into the hands of everyday car owners and not just the rich and famous. I want to get my foot in the door somehow or in some way. Even if I need to bring my talents and skills to you then I'm open arms to any suggestions or possibilities. I don't expect you to give me a job or tell me the exact path to take. You seem like the PERFECT mentor for someone like me who is trying to make something from nothing in this industry. I appreciate your time if you read this and will never stop watching your content as it speaks to my heart anytime I click play. Keep up the content and thank you for everything.

Hi Steve, I am no expert but you said that if someone with no capital want to start an exhaust company like you with high quality products, hyper car level........wouldn't it be better to first start with basic car exhausts like of a golf and provide good service as well as quality and build a brand in that area and then once you have a name as an experienced company, you can dive into the hyper car and sports car category because I doubt someone would trust modifying their precious supercar from an inexperienced and amateur entrepreneur no matter how promising it looks, unless you have good contacts in the supercar world... Appreciate your videos and content is always great from you guys, I think where most people struggle is with pushing their ideas without having much capital, that initial take off, particularly outside US, It would be great to hear from you on that topic alone in a video...thanks!!

Differentiation and /or Competitive advantage. This cannot be overstated. If you don't have one or both of those things in your model, all you end up doing is owning your own low paying job. Everything Steve is telling you has been done in the automotive enthusiast industry in the last 20 years. His differentiation was that he collected all the brands in one place for comparison and his customer service. Previously these brands all just rep'd themselves on their own sites or sold through distributors in bricks and motor stores or paper catalogs. None of which did customer service very well in the transition to the digital age. Steve's competitive advantage comes from that. He leveraged his understanding of customer service in the digital realm. His competitive advantage was timing and low overhead. Timing involves either an incredible amount of insight or luck or both. He was in this market early and with the lowest operating costs one could have. Steve this is the first video of yours I've ever watched. Maybe you've these topic more previously but I don't think they can be emphasized enough.

Great video! Tons of actionable advice. I tried the drop shipping model 8 years ago. It’s a dog fight just to get anything out of it with single digit margins. I agree. Customers that aren't constantly communicated with and informed of bad news, good news, and/or no news, are most susceptible to having a bad experience with your business. People draw their own conclusions when they aren't constantly "touched" or notified, and most times their insecurities lead them to the worst case, most unlikely scenario.

Hey Steve, My name is Gonzalo Perez. Thank you so much for this video! I am a MBA student and this video has already taught me more useful things than most of my classes. I need some advice. I want to start a car app but my skills are in mechanical engineering and business. I have started products before without using any of my own money by convincing my university to invest in student projects. This app project will be more difficult for me to start: 1) I don't know coding and even if I teach myself it will take me years to code the app. 2) I don't have money for this project 3) This car app would only succeed with a lot of marketing since part of it is social media. The 2 paths I am thinking about are: 1) Hiring an app developer for equity and gather marketing funding once the app is ready (but I don't know developers that will work for equity). 2) Pitching the app idea to an investor with a following in the car community and hire an app developer. Let me know what you think of this situation. Also, be honest with me if I should move on to the next idea, since I don't have the capitol or primary skill for this one. Thanks!

Hey Steve, amazing video! The top 10% really helped me out as I’m 19 and currently working in a Publix deli. I’ve decided I want to make a career of it and soon become a Department manager and one day a manager of a store. I’ve just had trouble taking those step because I’m at a point in my life we’re there’s a lot of change coming up. Soon I’m going to have to be moving as I’m transferring from community college to a university. So I’ve been hesitant to pull the trigger on becoming a full-timer as that’s my next step in order to become a manager. I’ve also recently turned to bodybuilding and would like to compete a few times, so that’s slowed me down a bit. But this was huge to hear that advice you had in the video. It’s got me excited for the future as I’m willing to put the work in to separate myself and build the life I want.

Steve I truly think this video helped me understand a lot more in-depth on how a business actually operates. I’ve taken an accounting course at my CC and it taught me a whole lot on how the money was being used and where it was allocated to. I’m currently an Economics & Accounting major and hope to pass it as I’ve put over 3 years into it starting all the way back in the early days of HS. Will say CC paid off heavily as it’s free to go for the most part and having a starting point for a degree is wonderful, especially if you want to continue or find an interest at a university. My question for you Steve is: Should I try to build up my capital with the good salary my university claims after I leave or should I already plan on starting up a business? I already thought about investing my money into profitable things (crypto, stock, real estate possibly, etc) but those are incredibly risky ways of making money and in fact feel more like a gamble. I personally think tweaking products that already exist is a very hard thing to do unless you hire a team and what not. I honestly don’t know what’s best and would love to hear your opinion on this as I’d love to become like you one day and own a bunch of awesome cars and potentially an entire collection! Always had such a big passion for cars and don’t know how my life would be without them.
