That was a fantastic use case Stefan! I've been toying w/ building my own dispatch app, but am concerned about the amount of data that will be collected in the app and am wondering if saving it all to a sql db vs google sheets might be a better solution.

How many rows of data do you expect would be created in a year? We find the majority of our client do fine with just GoogleSheets.

That amount of data should work fine within google sheets. SQL would work as well, but not 100% necessary in your case.

AppSheet should not be reading more than 50k rows at a time. If you have more than that, archiving some out of your main google sheet is a good strategy, or using security filters in conjunction with SQL is a good solution.

Excellent delivery of many relevant topics.. Would it be difficult to allow the Users to 'Start' & 'Stop' several times on each job (I know it's not very 'superhero' to do this) & then accumulate all the logged 'Start' & 'Stop' times for that job? The use case is for when Users are switching between jobs, going on breaks or maybe starting a job one day & then coming back to it another day etc.. Thanks again guys!

For sure that what we do for our internal Time tracking app. Columns you'd need would be [clockInTime] [clockOutTime] [TotalTime] Clock In Action (Behavior Formula = ISBLANK([clockInTime]) = Set [clockInTime] to NOW() Clock Out Action (Behavior Formula = AND(ISNOTBLANK([clockInTime], ISBLANK([clockOutTime]) ) = Set [clockOutTime] to NOW() Submit Time Action (Behavior Formula = AND(ISNOTBLANK([clockInTime], ISNOTBLANK([clockOutTime]) ) = Set [TotalTime to ( [TotalTime]+ TOTALMINUTES([clockOutTime] - [clockInTime]) / 60 ) Set [clockOutTime] to Blank Set [clockOutTime] to Blank

@@AppSheetTraining Can the [CLOCK IN] [CLOCK OUT] values be replaced with customized codes? We are using a paid application that we had to customize to our needs as it was not designed for our type of business (transportation and linguistic services). The drivers and interpreters must type AR (arrival to claimant's residence -drivers-; or facility -interpreters-); PU (claimant boarding the vehicle at pick-up location); DO (drop-off to the facility); DE (departure from the facility -drivers and interpreters); CR (claimant return to pick up location). Will be possible to list these codes instead of [CLOCK IN] [CLOCK OUT], perhaps by numbering the [CI] and [CO] values with the corresponding serial as the assignment progresses ([CI_1], [CO_1] and so)?. This is common when a vendor is covering a two or three-leg assignment (driver taking a claimant to different locations on the same trip; or an interpreter covering a setting for the same claimant in different facilities on the same given day). Great training. I have the following issue. We are collecting our orders with new clients infos, into the same sheet. so we have not, like in your example, a separate client list (sheet) - so we decide to pull out from our main sheet (where the order specification, with the new customers name, etc.) into a new sheet. when going into Appsheet and importing the data every thing works fine...until we use the "Clients" sheet. we can read the content perfect, but when we want in our Order-Infos to put the Customer to REF to the "Clients" Data - we get the Error: Column Name 'Client' in Schema 'Orders_Schema' refers to ReferencedTableName 'Clients'. That Table or Slice uses RowNumber as a key which is not a stable key. - is there a way to solve this? i hope you understand my long explanaition. The main difference, is that we have both....a existing Client-List, but also getting NewClients trough other Online-Forms...wich deliver us the Orders inclusive their Name, Adress, etc. - thanks for any help, regards, adrian

Just an "ID" Column in your client sheet.. And go to client table in Appsheet, id column and then write Uniqueid() in initial value. Make this Id column as key column and you are Done

Can this also be used to pick up a client or package and drop off a client or package? More transpiration type dispatching?

It can. However, often times you will want real-time gps tracking for those use cases, which AppSheet does not support. It only captures gps when the user changes data in the app.

@@AppSheetTraining Great...Thank you... Also it would be better if the BOT, process has feature to trigger deeplink actions. For now its allowing only row updation related actions only...
