This is an awesome video. This is exactly what we got quotes for to be done by contractors/hardscapers and they all came back over $16k. Insane. For a 15ft patio pit area. This video gives me confidence that we can do this ourselves!

Looks good. I’m thinking of doing something similar with mine, but perhaps using cobblestone instead. And after doing a couple of tiger projects, sheds, I agree, removing the grass is the hardest part. We’ll that and carrying the pavers from the store to truck, from truck to yard, then from yard to their final location. You’ve made a New subscriber out of me. Us average dads need to stick together

Doing some spice ups on my house, and you've convinced me to go "all out" and make a flagstone patio as well. Looks fantastic! Well edited video, love the drone shots and the great voice over. Keep it up, cant wait to see you blow up. New sub!

Would love to hear an update regarding how much sinking / settling occurred over the last couple of years. We're considering doing this and not digging down the 8" I'm seeing that people recommend on some sites!
@AverageDadChannel
@AverageDadChannel 20 дней назад
Hey BB, not much settling, I’ve put out another bucket of sand and spread it around but overall the settling has been minimal. I can send you a picture if you email me

OMG. What state you live in where you got flagstone for 100$? Here in Maine a pallet cost 750$ plus delivery. Pallet only covers 130 sq/ft

Looks awesome. Why did you decide to not cement the bricks together?
@AverageDadChannel
@AverageDadChannel 2 года назад
Thanks MKA! Are you talking about the fire pit surround bricks? I went back later and made it a “smokeless” fire pit (also have a video on it) and wanted to be able to adjust or rework as needed. I about have it how I want now, so may use high temp construction adhesive between them this fall so they stay put.

Is there a reason you didn't opt to put in a weed barrier?
@AverageDadChannel
@AverageDadChannel 2 года назад
Hey Mike, honestly I just didn’t think to add it at the time (somewhat followed Bro Build’s patio video and they didn’t use any). It probably would’ve been good to do, but very surprisingly in retrospect, after 12 months we haven’t had any weeds in the gaps. If I go back and put down polymeric sand this fall hopefully that will negate any concerns going forward.
@tylerlapointe3964
@tylerlapointe3964 11 месяцев назад
What type of sand?
@AverageDadChannel
@AverageDadChannel 11 месяцев назад
Hey Tyler, I just used generic construction sand and it has held up fine, almost no weeds still after 2 years

What type of Flagstone is this?
@AverageDadChannel
@AverageDadChannel Год назад
Hey Neil, I’m not positive as I bought it off fb marketplace, but I would guess it’s sandstone (I’m in the Midwest if that helps at all). It was all about 1.75 to 2” thick.

Where did you get that much flagstone for 100$?

Facebook marketplace, it was an exceptional deal but usually you can find people selling some that never carried through on a project or did a large project and had leftover
