One suggestion. In the backwoods of Kentucky we always carry a few small birthday candles with our firemaking kit. On calm days, it allows you to use your lighter one time to light the small candle and save your gas in the lighter. We've been doing this as long as I can remember, and the first time I think I picked it up was while hunting deer with my Grandad in the early 80's.

Really like that handle on the ESSEE. I’ve just been working on some fire kits, having a dedicated fire kit with ur knife is a good idea.

You can never go wrong with an ESEE IMO, I have used them for years ! I thought about getting the Laser Strike.

Paper towels dipped in tallow works very well starting fire.

should be a magnesium rod/ferro rod and two tinder quicks inside the handle of that knife if I am not mistaken,

There should but the original owner removed them when replacing the handle

My wife gets perfume samples, in tiny scew top bottles, I keep them, and you can fill them with the flammable liquid of your choice, and keep a couple, in the altoids tin.. Gasoline makes everything burn, ha ha
