The goal in life is living better. And for that using your mind more than your muscle. This is a prime example. We're happy to see you working in your shop again and glad you're back at the day job too. Thanks Jack.

Thanks for the idea Jack.. Arthritis in my back is limiting my bending and I seem to be dropping things on a more regular basis these days! The magnet is a plus since I am always spilling nails and screws! Glad to have you back!

That grabber is a fantastic idea! I particularly love the magnet, I can't tell you how many times I'm trying to pick up screws or bolts I drop in the shop. And of course they always want to roll underneath a bench (there's a particular rule in physics why that happens. But I don't want to bore people with the explanation. Hee hee).

Jack, welcome back! I'm in a wheelchair and I know how handy a grabber/reacher can be. Your idea is great. It will be much stronger than thin metal or plastic. I will make me a couple of them. Thank you for sharing. Actually everyone can use these. Thankz

I use one of those when I'm mowing the lawn so I don't need to get off the mower to pick up trash, but the plastic one's don't last that long. I'll have to make one and add a hook to clean out the end of the mower deck when the wet grass plugs it up. Great idea!

I have the aluminum and plastic one I got from the hospital the was no doubt the design for yours. Brilliant!!!! I'm going to make a few for myself as I use mine ALL the time as I got mine for a back surgery. I will make a couple for inside and a couple for the shop. I may even make different lengths. Maybe I'll put a small brass hook on the top as well!! A nice long one would be great in the garage!!! Well done my friend!!! I had just started searching for designs. But I realize, in need look NO FURTHER!!! Great job!!!! Thanks for the great idea!!!

All right, JACK IS BACK! Another great video and project as always. While you were building the grabber, I thought, "you should put a magnet on the bottom". Sure enough, you did. I caught your video on the router circle making jig, and I have to tell you, THAT was brilliant. Only jig I have seen that you didn't need a starter hole. I built it, used it, and it works to perfection. Thanks for all you do.

Perfect timing! I too have mobility issues and I think this will come in handy for me as well. Brilliant thought with the magnet... beats building 2 different tools!

I have a can grabber that is aluminum, and useful for many things. I also have an extendable magnet for screws etc., but even those two items do not help much with pencils and the like that I drop. The teeth are a great idea, and you did a remarkable job making something better! Thinking "outside the box" does not begin to describe you and what you do. CONGRATS

Just realised I was the 2000th like! (Not that it matters.) Thank you very much for this video Jack, we have been affected by Storm Eleanor quite badly here in Northern England, I have been awoken by the sounds of bins flying all over, and there is now rubbish everywhere in the little village I live in thanks to that, so this is perfect to help me at least give a small helping hand (no pun intended) in cleaning up the village. Thanks again!

Very useful tool and one I have used for many years because of the old bending issue. However, I never thought of a magnet on the end so I'll add one to the grabber in the workshop which will keep me going until I make one like your's because it is much nicer than the standard metal one. I didn't know you haven't been well so it's great to see you back again. I hope you keep well. Best Wishes, Brendan.

Great project jack me being paralysed after an accident 6yrs and living my life in a wheelchair I find in hard to reach things as you can imagine. The only good thing to come out of it if you can call it that I was awarded £3.9 million. My new bungalow as been adapted to an extent after getting my compensation and having a workshop built I never thought of anything like this so I will be definitely making one of these thanks for the inspiration.

Great video! One thing about the grabber: wouldn't it be better if it were closed by default (under spring tension) and opened when you pull the trigger? That way you could hold things without having to pull the trigger. On the other hand, the spring would have to be much stronger, because you wouldn't be able to use the trigger to adjust the force of the grabbing. Hmm, I can see the pros and cons of both approaches. Anyway, I'm glad you're back in the workshop! Take care.
