We built our kids a modern style treehouse. This was a fun and easy build! Since we built the wall framing in the garage, it went together fast, and minimal ladder work. More details and plans: www.sprucdmark...
I so LOVED my treehouse....could get away from older stupid brother n his friends. LOL Mine had a trap door that Daddy made sure i could lock while up there 👍🏻😁
A 5 ☆☆☆☆☆ project. This is awesome. I've been trying to figure out how to climb a tree (@ 67 yrs) sit a while listen to the wind and read a book, and most importantly how to safely get down without calling for rescue. :) always a kid a heart...just love trees. Blessings have fun :)
Neme, I saw a video which addressed the older generation in a huge family tree house. Build overlapping steps as separate landings up to the height you want, and install railing. Then you can take your time climbing and enjoying the view from any height. If wide enough, you could add rail-seating on one side to sit whenever and wherever you wanted, and always have enough seats for family and friends. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ See the right overlap between steps A & B is 6-8 inches overlapped /#|#\ to stop you at your leg and help prevent a foot/leg slip between steps. \ / \ / \_(◕◕)______ A_ /___\________________ / leg stop / B __/____________ / | leg caught C /___\__________ B to C lacks overlap in which anyone could slip a foot through a 7.5 inch high stair step and which could cause a fall. I hope that this helps you to build a safe haven. I had to edit and shift some alignment, so I hope that it's correct on your screen.
Many different designs for each type of project are also included. For example, there are hundreds of designs ru-vid.comUgkxb2mhCug-GkCWrq69Ce2I0nM0D4QpxAqu for outdoor buildings, from small sheds all the way up to a complete stable. Choose whatever type of shed or storage house is right for you. Pick from fancy ones or more utilitarian designs.
Brings back some memories when I built one for my son. I just built it elevated on stilts. The trees in my woods were too tall and far apart to use them.
I had a side job for some very rich clients to build a tree house for their only daughter. 15'X25' deck in between 4 trees with a 10'X15' Tree house on top of it. The house section was up against 2 of the sides, leaving a 5'X25' deck on 1 side and a 5'X10' deck on the end. It had 3-4'X4' slider windows and a 6' sliding door. It had a full stairwell and railings all around the deck, along with a 40 amp electrical service. They also made me wire, insulate, bead board, paint, outlets, cable, bunk beds, carpet...the works ! I'm talking curtains, mini blinds, trim work and a small baseboard heater with thermostat. It was a mini house minus a bathroom and kitchen. It also had Indoor and outdoor lighting with Cedar shakes for siding and the list goes on. One of the funnest projects I've ever had the pleasure to build ! Their child loved that place for over 10 yrs and is still standing. Sorry for such a long comment, thumbs up.
You are such a good mom! And what a blessing to have the talent that you do, of building things and knowing how to use power tools safely. My dad was a carpenter and i remember begging him to build me a treehouse or even a playhouse on the ground. I didn’t care, all I wanted was a playhouse. He never did it for me. I remember how sad I was, and I just couldn’t understand why he didn’t want to build me one. I never had any desire to build until the past few years. My dad is sick now, so, unfortunately he can’t teach me. I’m hoping he will get better and be able to, but I don’t know how it’s going to turn out. Little by little I am purchasing my own tools though. So far I have a 12 inch sliding miter saw, a brad nailer, staple gun, and a drill. I hope I’m not wasting my money and I hope I’m able to learn to make all of the things that I want to make. I just came across your channel and I’m thrilled that I did. I can’t wait to watch more of your videos and see what else you have made. Thanks for sharing! 😊😊
It's wonderful that you were able to do this for your kids. My kids begged and begged, but their father and I were just not clever enough to figure out how to build one with our scrubby Alaskan trees. It's a beauty. Makes me want one for myself!
Great to see the construction process on this ! Question: might it be a concern that all the 2x6s are fastened tight to the trees rather than one end having the flexibility to move as the tree moves in the wind?
My question indeed. Curious 3 years later to know how this tree house has held up to wind since it’s connected to 3 individual trees with no allowance for movement.
Great Mum... and Dad, sorry Jacob!. Love the bit where the little fella is busy unravelling the tape measure in the back of the truck and has a quick look around to make sure no-one is looking.
Nice looking treehouse! I like the tin roof! I have also found that because of the movement of the tree, having the three 2x6s floating can help. I make a kind of J-hook with boards to mount to the tree and the joists are supported in them. The tree movement affects things more the higher you go up the tree. The last tree house I built for my kids was 3 levels--a four foot landing, a 7 foot floor and a 14 foot second floor.
It feels like the triangle base (screwed to the trees) is quite weak... it is just a couple of screws holding the entire thing... or is this just my perception?
Love this, but the kid in me wants to see the inside! Our tree fort was just a simple platform up in the trees, but with a neat pulley system rigged up to the house for secret messages 😊. Kids will love this!!
What was your final cost? $60 for cedar walls was a great choice. That cuts down on the bugs too. Just sand it a little when the cedar smell dissipates or if bugs start to collect. If there's enough branches, greenhouse panels are really nice for letting more light inside. Research arbor slats and how a turmoil breeze helps to deter bugs from hanging around. They're a good add on for the gap in your roof and for a wall under the treehouse, where kids might picnic in the shade or sit out of a rain. Usually placed on the west wall which gets the most wind. Lake people may want to choose a northern or NW wall.
Nice tree house except for one problem. I hate to point this out after all your work but, since you anchored it solid to all three trees, the first time you get enough wind for the trees to sway, it's probably going to rip it apart. I learned that lesson the hard way when I built a tree house as a kid. Only I built mine higher in a single tree, anchored to big trunks of the tree. You built it low, which will minimize the amount of movement, but it doesn't take much, especially with it mounted to completely separate trees. When I built mine, I thought that the whole tree would kind of sway together and not hurt the tree house. It didn't work out that way. The limbs have a way of swaying in all different directions. It didn't even make it through the summer before a wind storm completely ripped it loose.
Wow, that is awesome and simple. My son wants a tree house so badly but we live in a subdivision and have no trees in our yard. It kills me that he can't have one. I grew up in the country and was fortunate enough to have one.
I think it looks great! However, what happens to that triangular foundation when the trees grow in circumference and begin pushing that foundation apart? Great structural design though!!!
Hey! Loved the video! Is there a reason the link to the plans in the details section no longer works? Would you be able to send me the info? This is exactly what I was looking for with my kids treehouse. We have 3 trees in our backyard I am looking to make use of, so this is perfect. Any additional thoughts or ideas would be welcomed! Thanks in advance!
The plan isn’t available anymore! Is it possible to have the details to build this tree house ? I would like to know the measurement of the walls and floor if possible! Thanks 😁
Looks easy! I would add a extra safety rail across the lower part of your outside corner window cut out as the sills seem a little low. Dont want a rambunctious 10yr old falling out. Don't make the window smaller. A rail can maintain the open feel of the larger window with added safety.
They will rip the lag bolts, bow boards, etc. Proper treehouse builds always include utilizing perches so the tree can continue to grow and move unobstructed by the treehouse.
I bought a house a few years ago that has a tree house. What should I do when the tree has begun to grow into the lumber that the tree house is constructed with? I’m afraid of it hurting the tree. Can I cut the wood that is constricting the tree so the tree can grow properly? Should I leave the wood and bolts that has grown into the trees ?
I love this look. I bought your plans, but i don't see in those or on this video how you attached the square floor to the triangle base. Please advise.
i HAVE A 8FT BED PICKUP TRUCK WITH A LIFT GATE THAT ADDS 10". i HAVE 2 X 4'S & WANTED TO MAKE IT 6 TO 7 FT HIGH FROM BED FLOOR. MAYBE OIL CLOTH ROOF WITH 1FT OVERHANG OVER RAILS & 2FT OVERHANG OVER LIFT GATE. i WANT IT SEE THRU PLASTIC 2FT UP FROM TRUCK RAILS SO THERE ARE NO BLIND SPOTS. ANA ANY IDEAS HOW 2 BUILD IT? SHOULD I USE 2 1/2" DECK SCREWS. LAG SCREWS? I THOUGHT I WOULD STRAP IT DOWN WITH CLOTH HOOK STRAPS 2 TRUCK UNLESS THERE IS A BETTER WAY
A stretchy Bungee Cord. It lasts a few years when left out in the weather. We have a run for our little 8 lb Yorkie, who probably pulls 30 pounds when he darts at cats and squirrels, that we replace every 2 to 3 years. And, the little give it still has, even when pulled taunt, will save your throat if you ever dart into that line in the dark.
This is a great video!!! I have a question, how did you assembled the framing to the base building, I can’t seem to get that from the video or webpage clearly..... thank you!!!
That's super awesome treehouse. My kid loves it and wants to build one. But I wonder if you need any permissions to build such a treehouse on the trees?
well i’m 13 now and always wanted a treehouse but my mom hasn’t really bothered to help me make one, plus neither of us have any building experience, but maybe i’ll try and make something like this someday!
Maybe you have an older savvy aunt, uncle or cousins that may help you build one. Collect wood during Spring Pickup in a few weeks. Talk to your neighbors while you're collecting wood and they might donate more items to help you get closer to building something that will be fun for you and the kids in your neighborhood. And, they might help too, here and there.
I wonder how the tree house platform will be in a few years without any way for the trees to move in the wind it probably will mess up the tree house over time.
