The Seiko ultra-thin motors are ultra-thin movements one sixteenth of an inch thinner than the normal five-eighths inch thick mini quartz movements.
There are applications where the sixteenth of an inch can make a difference. They use a common double AA battery but
the main reason to buy one is quality. They're very high quality.
They're made by a division of Seiko watch and they're touted to be one of the better movements on the market. They're accurate to plus or minus 15 seconds a month which works out to three
minutes a year.
They have a step second hand motion. The one thing to note about the second hands though is they must have a Seiko bushing. This little bushing that holds in place is actually a few thousandths of an inch larger than the normal I shaft bushing size.
You want to be careful if you're choosing a second hand make sure you doing it from our Seiko group. Please see: www.clockparts.com/seiko-swee...
The hour and minute hands are a normal I shaft with the hour hand being held in place by pressure and the minute being held in place by a small nut.
Combine our sweep second hands with one of our USA made Takane Movements. Call us at: 888-827-2387
