Build an inexpensive upright motorcycle dolly.

Combine a used Harbor Freight style motorcycle dolly with a Condor chock clone. There are now really crappy Condor clones. If you want to buy a Condor clone, I recommend buying it off Amazon where you get a good return policy and only buying a "Rack A44" model chock to make an inexpensive upright motorcycle dolly. When space is at a premium I've found these dollies can make parking bikes in as little space as possible as well as making it easier to shuffle bikes around in my workshop. I;ve put together 6 of these so far with costs ranging from $85 to 125 (Since making this video I have discovered the chock is available for $55 delivered outside of Ebay - Google search for "rack-a44" chock) depending on what I can get used dollies for. Some people are skeptical about how stable these are. They are completely stable. I've put 7 of these together and would put any of my bikes on them. Look at the bikes in the back ground of the video to see what kinds of bikes are on these and what kinds of bikes I put on these.

This is such a good idea. I’m definitely going to do this especially after watching your comparison video of the more expensive one.

I bought a wheel chock from ebay. The steel pins were too long; so I went to Home Depot and bought a 1/2 in aluminum rod to make shorter pins to fit inside the Harbor Freight dolly. I used an angle grinder to cut the aluminum rod. The steel wasn't as easy to drill as in the video. I used cutting oil and slow speed on the drill. Once I got the wheel chock bolted into the dolly, I found it was much more difficult to get the motorcycle onto the dolly and off again. I like the idea of rolling my Ducati Multistrada forward to remove it from the dolly; so, I took the chock back off the dolly and am resorting to using the kick stand. I also wasn't too happy with how secure the motorcycle was with only the chock. If I would have continued using it I would have needed to move the pivoting part of the chock closer to the stationary stop. Removal of the chock from the dolly is required for this adjustment.

This is a great video. Thanks for this. Do you know if the chock will fit a Honda grom? I want to build 2, one for my Busa and one my Grom

Great mod!! I see the wheels are upgraded too. Which kind did you use?

This is awesome. I’d appreciate some info if possible. What is the length from the front of the wheel chock to the end of the motorcycle dolly edge? Trying to determine if this would work with my H-D Dyna.

Im having a hard time choosing between this and putting Omni wheels on my pit bull stands. Love your setup! It also looks like the wheels on the one you built here aren’t the stock HF wheels. Did you change them so it rolls easier?
@nklam247
@nklam247 Год назад
I brought the same Harbor Freight dolly and the eBay wheel chock. Unfortunately the HF was too narrow for the EB wheel chock. I ended up modifying the EB wheel chock to fit the HF dolly. I don’t know why my HF dolly was so narrow unlike yours.

The pins for the chock must be cut down to fit within the dolly runner.

My whole chock base was over an inch too wide. I guess I bought the wrong chock?

You need to make sure you get the wheel chock that is 7 1/2" wide.

What kind of chock did you use? The dolly is only 7 1/2 or 8" wide and the chocks i have found are wider. Great looking garage.

Aside from a race bike with no stand, what the benefit of adding the wheel chock, it almost doubles the cost. Is it space savings due the the bike being vertical and not leant over on the side stand?
@SBKStash
@SBKStash 3 года назад
It saves space and makes it easier to pack bikes into tight spaces. I'm really tight on space.

@sbk stash - Thanks for the videos. Have you tried the Harbor Freight condor style chock? It is cheaper than the rack-a44 chocks that I am seeing online.
@SBKStash
@SBKStash 2 года назад
I looked at it and as I recall the HF Condor style chock is too wide to fit in the dolly channel. Didn't look at it, but the way the HF chock goes together, you might be able to narrow it so it would fit in the channel, but it will take some work.

I tried to do same. Harbor freight dolly is about 8" wide inside. But same clone chock is 9 " . So it won't fit inside. Any suggestions?

Rack a44 chock is a Condor clone. It works if you trim the steel pins. All the Condor accessories work with it. The HF Condor style chock will not work.

@@rsokil538 Search "rack a44 chock" Remember the steel pins need to be trimmed down to fit in the dolly channel.
