The video reviews a build of the 1921 Vampyr, a scale free flight glider. It's a pretty easy build and a great flyer if you use the auto rudder shown. The plans can be found on Hippocket Aeronautics Builders' Plan Gallery. You need to be a registered used to access them. www.hippocketa...

Yes, a good ship for sure. I have all the templates so hope to assemble another. At the moment, finishing up a Schweitzer 1-26. :) Thanks for watching!

It flew away? Did you know you were launching into thermals? That's a pretty ingenious auto-rudder setup. Your planes always perform so well! Thanks for posting.

Ken it was lost at a contest. So I had hoped I was launching into a thermal. Most of the other gliders were not having much luck with lift. I guess I got lucky. Won the event, but lost the glider. I have a new design underway. BTW, the auto-rudder idea is not mine. It's Henry Struck's. You can find it on his Sinbad glider plan. 😁 As always, thanks for watching.

Definitely wanting to build a towline glider now! Just found out that the local soaring club HAD a couple of TG-3 gliders that I missed. 36" sounds like a great size. You find the coolest stuff to model. Thanks for sharing!

Darrell you're welcome. The 36 inch span qualifies for the FAC Scale Glider event. It's a nice size but restrictive for higher aspect gliders. The wings begin to get quite narrow. Give one a go! Lots of fun.

Was the original 13 inch version meant to be a towline glider? Wondering how small towline gliders are built? Thanks btw.

The original 13-inch plan indeed does show a tow hook. I think the author launched it with a low powered bungee hi start line. Might be a fun project at that size! Thanks for viewing.

I wonder if anyone found it John 🤔 do you remember what the bungee was comprised of?

We have trees and swamp all around our field so it likely went into the woods. We could see it circling off in the distance over the trees and then we lost sight of it. For towing, we use a reel. So the glider is launched and you reel in the line. I guess like a glider winch. No running required and still have control over the ascent.

@Watchingthevideos99 That's how I plan to launch the Slingsby but with a bungee backup in case of problems, cheers John 👍
