Many different designs for each type of project are also included. For example, there are hundreds of designs ru-vid.comUgkxb2mhCug-GkCWrq69Ce2I0nM0D4QpxAqu for outdoor buildings, from small sheds all the way up to a complete stable. Choose whatever type of shed or storage house is right for you. Pick from fancy ones or more utilitarian designs.

I have been a carpenter for 37 years... I really enjoyed his work and his banter while he did it... The accent doesn't hurt either.. Very good and quality yet simple design.. I love Bosch tools also... M

I built it a few weeks ago with mostly reclaimed pallet wood. My step father's hen's are really happy with it. The plans provided permit some small changes and approximations so any starter can do it. Do not hesitate, get your tools and try it, you'll love doing it yourself, really.

Bravo! You built a complete chicken coop by the time I finished my large coffee... hmmm. wish I could do that in my farmyard. Having a workshop with the best equipment plus your skill does make a difference. It is perfect. Excellent job. Well, I am taking away a great design and one that I may be able to duplicate, to a point, with my scraps of plywood, old 2x4s and used 6x1x12 board fencing. Wish me luck! Thanks again!

Nice work... especially where the carpentry is concerned. I also build coops. One note: Air travels in columns, not layers. Vertical vents are more efficient. Humans like the look of horizontal vents, but they are for esthetics only, and have nothing to do with good ventilation for avian species. Placing narrow vertical vents the height of the structure, but at opposite corners, allows for adequate ventilation of the internal air mass without causing drafts. Vertical vent openings should be very narrow, and multiple openings per vent work best.

I want my sliding door in mahogany with a peephole and it will be mounted on the inside with a wire rope leading to the outside so I can open and close it. Then I want decorative trim around the opening outside with a routed sign that says "HOME SWEET HOME"! Also, flower boxes mounted to either side of the door opening with flower cut-outs painted of course. I also want a sliding floor in the nesting boxes for easy cleaning. Give me proper steps with handrails for safety. A picket fence around the bottom high enough to cover the opening at the bottom hiding the stilts and opening. Some stepping stones up to the steps would be nice with some sod would help the yard and maybe a tree for shade. Oh, one more thing, I think it would look better with shingles.

Nice looking coop. Slide out bottom will likely be a problem during use. Wood shavings a chicked poop is going to gum up the groves making sliding more difficult over time. Probably better to have a back door that hinges open in a way you can scrape out the mess directly into a wheel borrow.
@GigerPunk
@GigerPunk 11 лет назад
I wondered that myself, what with using all the T&G used, it's just adding to the amount of places mites can nest/hide - I built a 4' x 4' coop using 15mm exterior ply instead. Also, kept all the structural beams and things on the outside instead, so the inside is as clean and simple as possible - makes for easier cleaning. I'd also want some plastic sheeting for the hinge on the nest box and maybe a roof ridge, but I guess the two roof pieces fit together perfectly here due to expert cutting ;)

Great job. Excellent workmanship. My only two constructive criticisms. The roost should be a round dowel. It's easier for them to grasp. And I think easier on their feet. Some larger vent holes. Of course this is based on location and temperatures. But it can get too hot inside without enough ventilation at night. Plus the air quality can suffer if you're nearing time to clean it out.

Thank you for an excellent tutorial I am just at the drawing board stage of a vatiation on this. One thing I cannot figure out is why you have a 20mm gap at the bottom of the nest box part of the frame? As shown on the section in the drawings. At first I thought this was for the floor of the nest box to slot into but it does not appear to do this when you assemble it in the video. I'm just a bit afraid to miss a crucial step?

Bill’s Coop- For obvious reasons, this is one of my personal favorites. rb.gy/px4rks This coop features a suspended upper house with a full range below, a ramp for easy entrance to the upper level. This design has my personal touches and I have had some clients throw wheels on it after building for easy portability.

A few comments: I would delay attaching the roof so you could attach the screws for the sliding door frame from the inside. And... There is no way I would disassemble and reassemble to move in place - that is unless you build it in your basement. 😄 Also consider the Kreg Jig Pocket-Hole tool for joining the frame pieces. Other than that very nicely done. I like this build and may attempt it this spring.
