In this video, I'll show you why you should avoid closed platforms for your course business and how easy and affordable it actually is to get going with WordPress and LearnDash.
This video is focused on LearnDash Cloud, a hosting plan that includes a LearnDash license and a ton of other goodies, the value proposition here is insane.
While this video is sponsored, any opinions shared are authentic. I've been a paying customer of LearnDash since 2017 and I'm proud to have them as a channel sponsor.
Get LearnDash Cloud with my link to help support the channel.

LearnDash Cloud includes a LearnDash LMS license to create unlimited online courses ($199/year), ProPanel for tracking your users, iThemes Security Pro ($99/year), and Redis Object Cache Pro ($950/year).
Did I mention hosting is included? This is truly an amazing value, starting at just $25/month when you pay annually or $29/monthly.
This isn't cheap hosting. It's wicked fast and they say it's powerful enough to manage your first 1000 students!

Great video, Dave. Very helpful. I have a LTD for Learndash but the combo with hosting makes it a very attractive annual deal instead!

🙏 I agree it’s a really compelling offer. I’m thinking about moving profitabletools.com there ahead of my course launch later this month.

What is the advantage of the more expensive hosted solution besides the ProPanel-Plugin and iThemes-Security if you are a little familiar with WordPress? There are so many online tutorials, web forums, Q&A and even Meetups with all kinds of WordPress-Users to find help for any question or problem. Probably the best supported and documented CMS by the users for the users.

@@paulhorn24 Relatively little benefit as a way to get the software. However the hosting combined with the (to me) very standard Learndash plus Pro Panel is the real benefit. The vendor providing a suitably scaled server along with the LMS - that makes the software combo free, but already installed ready for your other plugins.

Thanks for this video - very informative! We're considering moving from a Moodle platform to Learn Dash for our company LMS so it's very helpful for us to see it in action. What I'm curious to know is you showed the RU-vid videos once loaded appeared as a text list with the video headings - is the format of display editable? For example if I wanted to make it more visually appealing could I display thumbnail images for each video to click on rather then a list of text titles?

Hi Kristy, thanks for the comment! Anything is possible with WP & LearnDash, but it would require some custom development to get the layout you're looking for. I do this work for clients all the time, feel free to reach out if you want help with your migration. You can use the form on clientamp.com

That price is really good. Could LD be used as a client portal for a subscription service business? Even a better deal if so.

Yeah, it certainly could. Especially with their groups feature. I’ve had clients run annual coaching service like this.

Did you ever check Thrivecart Learn Plus? Some thoughts how it compares?
@dave-swift
@dave-swift Год назад
Yes, great question. Fundamentally Learn Plus is more like Teachable or Kajabi. A closed platform vs an open source one. Yeah, it’s a one time purchase which is tempting but it’s ~$700 to get LearnPlus. That’s more than two years of LD Cloud and I think most people will appreciate the options they had with the open platform. ThriveCart is one of the longest running LTDs and I think it’s a fairly safe buy, but I did see that they were acquired earlier this year. I’ve also noticed an anecdotal uptick in unhappy users due to slow server performance. Hard to say if that’s related to the new owners. My advice to people starting online business is to keep their platform (website, e-commerce store, membership site) open source. Stuff that lives in top, the bells and whistles, can be LTDs or SaaS. Stuff that if went away, your business would keep ticking. If you go closed for your platform, choose an established player that has a solid business model so you can worry less about infrastructure. If open source seems daunting, choose a specialized managed provider like LD Cloud, or hire someone to manage it for you.

@@dave-swift Thanks a lot for taking the time for a thorough = REAL answer, I appreciate it. Why I am fond of Thrivecart Learn plus is because of the ease of the payment process, in including very easy up and downsells. But no gamification as Learndash.

I have an existing website. So i need to use a subdomain for LD? If thats the case, in my website when i add a course, my menu choice on my website points to the online ld site/page??
@dave-swift
@dave-swift 7 месяцев назад
You can install LearnDash on your primary domain (assuming it’s a WordPress site) otherwise if you do a subdomain, yes add it to your menu.

If i point to my top level domain, won’t i “lose” my current site?

If it’s a WordPress site, you would add LearnDash as a plugin. If you want to use LearnDash cloud, you would migrate your site to their hosting.

Hello Dave, is it secure from hackers, is it stable?
@dave-swift

Largely yes! They have a great security plugin that is bundled in and they use high quality VPS servers from LiquidWeb. Security is ultimately reliant on users following things like good password hygiene and keeping your site updated.
