This is the first episode where we build a synth using a CMOS IC (CD40106).

Ahah thanks a lot! Feel free to watch all the other episode since more osciyators are added to the circuit! But sadly I start saying oscillator like a nornal human by the middle of the series :P

Disidente thank you for your question. The CD40XX family IC can work on 5 to 20 DC supply.

Cool stuff! So, what happens if you repeat this for more than 1 inverter (with different caps/resistors)? If you just tie the outputs together I assume it won't work, cause the output voltage from pins 2,4,6,8, etc will kind of start to modulate each of the other inverters, no? How could you easily mix a bunch of different frequency oscillators together then?

Hi William, wanted to explain everything to you but you find out in the second video that you could tie a high speed diode at the end of each inverters to prevent them to modulate each other or better would be to build the passive mixer with a 10K or 100K potentiometer. :)

Thanks! So, two more questions: 1) Could an LED be used? (Added bonus: indicator of frequency of each osc.) 2) What is the final 100K before the Amp for?

Thanks for both questions. 1-A Led could be used, I already had a tri-oscillator using 3 differents LED colors. 2-Tje 100K before the amp is the volume control for each oscillator, it act as a passive mixer. ;)

Dear Professor, I want to build a Korg synth, if I enroll in one of your classes, when can I build a working model? Secondly, I will be willing to teach how to pronounce oscillator for a DIY kit :)

You're probably going to confuse certain people who can only speak English by not pronouncing the ll in oscillator. :)

Wow! Just realized what you mean... It's kind of weird how I pronounced Osciyator instead of Oscillator... I'm gonna try to improve all of this. Thanks for the feedback.
