i watched this tutorial twice to make sure that i won't be able to diy this mod , it is the age , eyes and hands . you made this tutorial clear and easy . but if i was 5 years younger i would go easily through that diy process . take care Todd
Hi Todd. I watched the whole thing just to assure myself I wasn't going to do it. I'm a leather worker and wires are scary but well done you. Thankfully 50 Euros is worth a lot less to me than my relative sanity.
Well done! That looked hard. 1 thing I noticed is as you were putting the bottom on, I saw some solder sitting on the nilon lug at the back. That solder could break loos and cause a short at some point. The switch section wiring really looked like a real challenge. Thanks Mark!
You lied. Said you wouldn't finish it. It was like a good page-turner. Hats off to your soldering skills. Not that I would ever get to own one, but if by some miracle I do, this video would be the manual. Cheers Mark, and be well 🤘😎💨
That was a fun video... I'm a electronic engineer by trade, and given what you were working with it looked fine to me. I recently repaired an hcigar vt133 as the DNA 200 board fried. I replaced the board with a DNA 250 and what a PITA that was. I've soldered a lot in my life, and that was still a bugger to do. Something about large wires soldering onto small PCB pads in cramped spaces, and needing 4 hands... LOL.
That's how "easy" it is for someone to build a mod and to go into business for themselves. Once it becomes slightly easier, anyone will be able to do it with a DIY kit. It's why no matter what, even if Shenzen goes bust over night, the authorities will never be able to completely stop vaping, no matter what they do. ALL that they will ever be able to do now, is push it further underground. It is here to stay. The only question right now comes down to convenience, time saving and cost. Is it better to DIY it, or buy a mod pre-built? It's definitely a skill that I want to learn in the eventuality that "vaping" is banned in the UK or limited in some way, like it is in the US with what's going on with the FDA right now.
I built several. It’s good fun. I’ve mostly built box mods; hammond boxes and the like; mechanical, mosfet & DNA. I’m pretty sure I’m one of the only people that has a triple 21700 DNA250C box mod. :) Looking at this video I’m kind of challenged. I like the button repositioning and the creative ways of placing the board and the screen. Makes me want to design one actually.
Having seen this you begin to understand why any replacement board for a mod costs what it does to be done by someone else. In fact it would be useful maybe for any mod maker/repairer to have a video such as this on their site/page just to show exactly what replacing a board or switch actually entails.
If you can build this mod you can build a helicopter, if you can build a helicopter you can build a space ship 😂 (in reference to a British Navy recruitment TV ad for those that didn't get it 😉) I've never seen someone solder with sausages 😉😜 You did good. Your soldering is also good, I killed my i7 Asus laptop in May trying to desolder the power jack because it was knackered. I killed some tracks on the motherboard 😔, in the bin it had to go, I paid £600 for it in 2012, gutted. What a feeling when it worked, nice one 👍😁 I look forward to the ToddMod.
Awesome Job Uncle Mark!!!you are not a idiot!! Thanks for all your awesome vids and reviews!! I hope I see you at the hall of vape!!Me and Uncle Rob Fisher will be going to the big expo!
This could well be my second attempt at making (well assembling) my own mod the first one was a riot...that was maybe 4/5 years ago when I said to myself I could do that aye right 😂 thanks Mark 👍🏻
You did good for being out of practice. The real trick is have the right iron for the task.. I have a 20, 40, 75, 110 and 150 watt irons. My first diy was when I was 10yrs old. An 8tube 100mw AM broadcast transmitter. 53yrs ago. A friend of the family gave me a three foot piece of transatlantic cable. So once I got it cut open I made the end fed 85 meter antenna. It was stung though the neighborhood but was on the air. This looks like fun but cheater eyes will be used these days.
WE WANTED THIS LIVE IN THE YARD MR TODD!!! but question did you video the running around the backyard with TJ chasing you celebration after it worked? If so please upload so we can have a laugh .... lol
Its like one of those movies where the main character says something and the narrator says: "but he didn't know how wrong he was" 😄. But it is interesting, maybe I can buy it without customs problems!!
6 hours of my life vs 50 quid extra. Mmmm🧐, decisions decisions. Haha. Great video Mark. Your soldering looks good to me. Very cool concept, just think I'd fuck it up to be Frank
Thanks for the video, glad you took the time. For some people videos are more understandable than printed manuals... less room for ‚ interpretation‘ i guess😉
Ohh good heavens I need to have one of these! I like a challenge. Also 50 quid is a lot to save. Edit: It’s 180€ for the kit? 😲 Oh well, never mind then.
Finally someone says soldering like I do 🤣 I've been waiting for someone to do this. As long as it sticks who gives a damn what it looks like? You'll never see it again. Hopefully 😏 Thanks 🤘*Edit: these are sold out everywhere 😱
On the 22mm red wire, I noticed that there was a single strand that was unsoldered and sticking out away from the soldered. You might want to check for that in the future if you do any more, as that could potentially cause a short if it touched somewhere.
Hi Mark. Watched the video 'fully' 2 times now. Very impressed (with you) but not confident (in myself). On teks website it says diy kit €130- parts only and diy kit 'fully assembled' €180? But isnt the latter just the actual 'finished' mod? Im futher confused as the mx1 is listed as €230 in the mx1 drop down? HELP! IM ENGLISH! AND STUPID!
You're probabaly a busy man but do you think it's possible to use a bf60 instead of the DNA ?? I know it's an old video and ull never see this just hoping someone does 😅 .
How much swearing did you have to edit out? ;P Really enjoyed the video, but it also shows me this is not something for me to get in to (even when I can sit long enough) simply because my hands aren't steady enough to solder, especially on such a small surface. Cheers Mark!
Is tek division still producing this kit or any other diy kits for his other mods? I Would love to get one before the stupidity goes into full effect here in the USA.
Nice video mark, but I have to take issue with your comments.i am about 30 mins in to video.you said near the beginning of video that if you could do this any idiot could.well as you know I am an idiot .would you want to use a mod that I tried to build.please advise
