I spent loads of time in this home growing up. I'm so hopeful someone will buy it and work to preserve it. There's a mega modern mansion right next door that is an utter monstrosity. I wish this piece of art was protected.

I wonder why it's not protected. There should be a historical committee that should look into this.
@joevarga5982

Because it severely limits your buyer pool. Already this home has been shown to over a THOUSAND people so far (claimed) and nobody has bought it. It's difficult enough to sell without restrictions.

I’m fortunate to have grown up in an Eichler. I wish they still made homes that followed a similar design philosophy. I feel if Eichler were alive today he’d be disappointed at how expensive his homes are and the lack of reasonably priced homes in the Bay Area.

I had friends in Terra Linda that had an Eichler. It was pretty cool really. Mid Century is not my favorite but have really come to appreciate that design as I've gotten older.

@@pamelawing5747 Hah, I went to high school in Terra Linda. The more I research about Eichler, the good things I experienced growing up in my neighborhood with friends and neighbors nearby was not just by chance, but by design. Eichler neighborhoods certainly attract a certain type of person. As an adult who’s now living outside of the US, I sometimes think it would be nice to build a house with similar characteristics. Sounds a bit pricey though.
@SLOBeachboy
@SLOBeachboy 4 месяца назад
Perhaps he would be disappointed but he would also likely be intelligent enough to realize that although median home prices in the USA are about double what they were in 1965 when factoring for inflation, the average square footage has also doubled since then. He would also understand how the bay area becoming the epicenter of the tech boom would naturally drive real estate prices through the roof. In any case, I hope they find the buyer they are looking for, but the reality is that someone willing to pay 6 million for the property is likely going to want to tear it down and build a much bigger and more modern house in its place. I could never do that myself though.

YES, Eichler would be very disappointed with the inflation, yes he got well known, and wealthier, but as far as my research on him, he was an avid budget minded person. Its pure GREED these days on how much a home cost now, You have to make $100k yet has come about the AMERICAN dream of owning a home. Most people now whom own a home, if not wealthy or double income families, or let alone making a $100k plus are work two or three jobs to make ends meet. Its POLITICAL GREED!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF

That wood is soooo thirsty. Haven’t the current owners heard of Murphy’s oil? Better MCM furniture (the wicker bed is anbsysmal) and a good deep cleaning could do wonders. The listing agent should know that!

Some behind the facade facts: Remodeled many in the South Bay Area. The cheapest homes built post WW2. From there thin slab foundations with embedded heat pumps, thin 2" by 2" interior wall studs, zero insulation to there flat tar roofs, There's not an Eichler that hasn't needed seriously remodeled or just torn-down for new construction. Always warned clients to avoid those money pits.

From $80k in the 60's to 6 million (x75) is just an example of how white wealth has been able to grow exponentially over the years while cities like Atherton were still deeply segregated. Black families like mine were only allowed to purchase in East Palo Alto where the homes have yielded just pennies to the dollar compared to homes in neighboring cities.

My Dad used to house-sit one Eichler there. I learned that water features like patio ponds can give you mosquitoes. On the other hand, great for people with mobility problems, walkers, wheelchairs etc.

Wellllllllllllllllll, I guess it's a good thing that this house is so insanely expensive because at that astronomical price, even the very rich will be hesitant to pay the kings ransom for an "update" (meaning a DECIMATION OF) the structure. But the bay areas M.F.'ING BILLIONAIRES WOULDN'T THINK TWICE about leveling it and building YET ANOTHER MCMANSION MONSTROSITY on that lot. Praying that this house DOESN'T GET DEMOLISHED has never been more unrealistic as it is now, I'm crushed and disgusted to say. 🤯🤬😭😱
@BlacksRuinEverything

Yeah, concrete floors and no attic space for heating/AC so your house looks like a restaurant with all the ductwork running across your roof. Also the beams he used all warp so there is ZERO insulation factors in these homes along with huge gaps between the glass and the beams.
