While Honda first gained worldwide acclaim for their motorcycles, they were also quick to branch out into manufacturing vehicles of the 4-wheeled kind. The Tokyo Motor Show in 1962 was the stage that they chose to debut their S500 roadster, which was quickly followed up in 1964 by a 606cc engine successor - the S600. That 606cc, 57hp unit was a 4-cylinder DOHC powerplant which bore close comparison even with racing engines of its day, and Honda took the creative approach of transmitting its power to the rear wheels of the car via chain drive units. A popular export to Europe and a familiar face on the racing circuit in Japan, the S600 is a vital piece of Japanese sports car heritage and a great addition to the Tamiya line-up (from www.tamiya.com....

Really nice job. I'm building one (for the second time!) and a Molotow chrome pen works great for the stainless trim that runs the length of the body...

Thanks 😊 I enjoyed building this model kit and would recommend it to everyone to try it by himself.

What is the purpose of adding the weights to the seats/spare tire?
@enso_scale
@enso_scale 4 месяца назад
Good Question. My idea was to just add some weight to the model. When holding it in the hands for taking pictures or diorama it will feel more heavier. 😀

Sweet! Do you ever sand and polish the paint?

I just used Tamiya’s Finish Compound after the clear coat to achieve a quick shiny look. That finish totally satisfies me 😅 But I will show more of the steps in future videos.

Nice build. Looks like it took a lot of patience to custom make the engine wiring, and paint all the little details. Imagine that little motor with V-tec... screamin' its head of at 3am, cuz someone's been nuts enough to order that tofu.

Thank you very much! I tried to rebuild the engine from a real picture and it was a pain, but I like the result. There is also not so much space for the engine in this kit. So when you want to build your own S600, then consider this when assembling all the parts together. But anyway, you're right. Honda did a lot of great engines in the past. Especially the legendary Honda Beat with MTREC (before VTEC) and 8.100 RPM redline 🥰 Love the sound of this car. Cheers 🍻

@@enso_scale The video makes me want to get a kit. Sadly I'm not good enough with model kits to do this one justice. Was also thinking about an R/C S800. But no racing/drift build. A more realistic road going version, like Tamiya's famous 1/14 scale R/C trucks. My first thought with Honda are the old fart can RICEd Civics. More noise than go 🤣 My own experience is limited to a Honda Wallaroo 25km/h moped I had for a year. Sold it when I moved on to a 45km/h microcar. I miss the ability to take shortcuts through the forest and the open air experience. But the car meant the moped ended up no longer being used.

@@joffreyverbeeck1640 Only because some guys tune their Civics and convert them into noice generating something (I would not call them cars anymore 😄). This does not mean that Honda as a car manufacturer represents that kind of "way of life". For me Honda always represents engineering masterpieces not only in cars but also in motorbikes. I personally do not have lot of Honda experience at all. But I would, if I could 😊What kind of 45km/h microcar do you own? Do you need license to drive them?

@@enso_scale I have an Aixam Crossover. A better known brand is Ligier. They are what the French call a "vehicule sans permis", or a license free car. Although at least in Europe, people born after 1961 must have a moped license for it. But with that, you can drive one from aga 16. For a normal car licence you have to be 18.

@@joffreyverbeeck1640 Ahh OK. Saw the sometimes in the street 😊It's some kind of popular in Europe.

What is the purpose of the weights? Great build, BTW
@enso_scale
@enso_scale Год назад
Thanks 🥰 And that's a really good question. The weight is not important for building the kit. It's only my personal preference. The parts later feels more heavier and more quality and do do not feel like cheap plastic 😄

Nice!!!! What's the flat red to gloss red ratio?
@enso_scale
@enso_scale Год назад
Thank you 🙏😊 I've used Tamiya's Gloss Red X-7 with Flat Base X-21 (10:1) Ratio. So really just a tiny bit of flat base, otherwise your result looks like frozen ice 😄 And just as a note, Tamiya also offers a color option Flat Red XF-7, which has similar effect.
