This is how I make my 120v meter boxes, pretty simple and take about a hour start to finish. I hope you all enjoy and if there is any question fell free to ask. Also I guess the GFCI out is bad and now wont reset, I have a new non GFCI on the way.

Gotta love scouring the internet for videos from years ago. :) helped me wire up a 120v drok meter that wasnt showing watts, had it on the pigtail hot wire instead of the hot wire coming from powercord. Issue resolved by watching closely. Thanks. ❤

PRO TIP: Instead of knotting the wire to keep it from pulling out, use a large Zip Tie around the wire. Pull it as tight as you can. The locking end of the zip tie will prevent the wire from being pulled out assuming you drilled a hole just a hair larger than the power cable.

For anyone else wondering about the GFCI issue SG was having, I think he just needed to press the RESET button down a lot harder than he was. Those things take a lot of force to reset them. The TEST button on the other hand is very easy to press.

That was not the problem. You need to wire to the 'LINE' side of the GFCI and not the 'LOAD' side.

Thank you for taking the time to build and explain your power meter boxes @SpaceGoats. Have you found any inconsistent data in properly reading the power? I ask as I would like to build a couple units and the Amazon reviews a few saw the power readings were off. Thank You!

I have seen some of the reviews but these meter are not certified, they are China made so the numbers can be a bit off. I used mine with a killawatt meter and they are really close. But for a fast reference meter they are great

I think the line wires go in the top side of the GFCI.. just made the similar mistake.

Hey SG! Awesome video! Quick question - do you know if there is a maximum length for the wires going from the CT to the meter and, if so, what is it? In other words, if I wanted to mount the actual meter face, say, 5-15 feet from the CT, would that still work and be accurate?

Man I don't know it the length of the wires with the meter is calibrated or not. Im sure you can try it and compare it with another meter short and long wires.

@SpaceGoats can you please briefly explain the differences in the two Drok meters you listed in the video description? I tried to compare the two Amazon sites and all I see is that the newer displays some additional information. From your experience do you recommend one over the other? Thanks.

The old style has voltage, wattage, amps and kwh readings on the meter, the new style include HZ and power factor
