Building a beautiful cabin with logs - part02

With the construction of this cabin, the first of three planned projects will be implemented (among the other two planned projects is e.g. a winter garden). It's designed to be a home for my tools and for me ... a workshop, so to say.
I hereby expressly encourage every man to start his own construction project - no matter how small; no matter how big - even without experience! Two comments on this: (1) It is in the nature of things that experience does not come by itself, but is always the faithful companion of "doing". In this respect, only "doing" remedies a lack of experience. And (2), we can do more than we think.
I do not have any education in craftsmanship and I am far from describing myself as capable of handicrafts. I am always open to friendly & constructive advice; they are even expressly requested!
other parts:
01: stone wall foundation ( • Building a beautiful c... )
03: the roof, part A ( • Building a beautiful c... )
04: the roof, part B ( • Building a beautiful c... )

😉😁 Well, I'm in fact of a quite weak physical nature, especially my knees and my back. But since I'm alone (except my wife, and she's not always at hand), I have to lift most logs alone. And I am always grateful that the Lord strengthened my back.

Then i saw another video about sand and Bible. I guessed right, you are a merciful person. So, now i’m thinking, have you ever been here, Konya, Turkey? Have you ever seen anything real about love? Because I know that everyone has questions in their minds that they can't and will never find answers to. And no one can answer them. But for example, every question of mine has a real answer… Thank you for works and video. And much kiss to the kid there arround you. Allah bless you :)

Now I am happy, I have everything I really need. I never want to have my old life back. I have Him, I have a beautiful wife, children, a home, and eternal life. What else does a man need? I have never been to Turkey, my mother and my mother in law they were and were happy about it. The Lord's blessings to you!

Can this be suitable for a hot climate? Or cabins are for cold climate?
@TheLandArksProject
@TheLandArksProject 2 года назад
Hm, I don't have any experience in regard to his, so I can only state my opinion and let my thoughts play a bit... I don't think that wood is a problem in a warmer climate in terms of temperature. It's quite well in insulating. So, the sun hitting your wooden wall shouldn't be that a problem. Some log houses have a lot of glass, I think this would be the bigger problem. You can have bit of a challenge if you're living in a very moist area, with a lot of rain and humidity. It's important to keep your wood dry. Against rain you have large roof overhangs. You should also consider problems with bugs, but maybe with the right treatment of the wood this isn't a problem. So, I would say, yes it's suitable. You maybe have to consider some things and do careful planning. Greetings & Blessings Dominic

You should visit Pennsylvania some day where I grew up. The buildings are made very similar to the foundation you made, but of course not with cement. They were built by Germans 300+ years ago during the mass migration of Amish and Mennonite people leaving Germany and Switzerland. I'm sure you would find much that is familiar, since when I visited Germany I was amazed by the many similarities. Many people also speak German but you might not understand it because it is 300+ years old. They call it Deitsch or Pennsilfaanisch instead of Deutsch. Great work and God bless your efforts.
@TheLandArksProject
@TheLandArksProject 2 года назад
Thank you for your kind comment. Interesting to hear of these similarities. In fact, I am interested in leaving Germany, for several reasons; one is, in order to live in an area where the winters are shorter. Hopefully, the Lord will one day open a door for me and my family. But I am not sure if Pennsylvania would be a climatic improvement 😉 God's blessing to you my friend!
@robertboyer5498
@robertboyer5498 2 года назад
@@TheLandArksProject 😂 It would not be an improvement! There's a reason so many Germans settled there. It reminded them of home. God willing my wife and I will be able to relocate to Florida or somewhere else warmer than here. We are tired of winter as well.
@TheLandArksProject
@TheLandArksProject 2 года назад
Ok, so I will NOT move to Pennsylvania! In Florida, I would expect land to be expensive? I am not against snow or colored trees, but 5 to 6 months is to long for me. I would be happy if the autumn-winter period was only 2 or 3 months long instead of 6 months. You know, where in the US there is such a climate? Snow in winter, but very short winters?
@robertboyer5498
@robertboyer5498 2 года назад
The southern USA is like that. Probably Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and of course Florida. From the Florida panhandle over to east Texas is more humid because of marshlands. West into Texas all the way out to California is dry desertlike climate. Florida land isn't as bad as you might think, although they're has been a huge influx of people fleeing the northern climes recently, which is driving up prices. If Florida is too expensive, I'll probably look towards the mountains in Eastern Tennessee.
@robertboyer5498

I have used a product called Land Ark for years. You might be interested in the you tube that JJ made called the Whitehouse timber frame garage?

I believe this is the first time i have seen cooking oil used for bar oil. Is that a chainsaw carver's trick?

I read a bit about it prior to using it ... Here in Germany, they said, it was very commonly used by foresters a few decades ago. And in some places, you have to use biodegradable oils when cutting your wood in the forests. Yes, it's environmentally friendly and also, I don't like the feeling to have mineral oil on my hands and I don't like it to be on the wood ... especially because I want to use the sawdust for other purposes where I don't want to have mineral oils.
