As a DIY woodworker, I am super impressed with the quality and precision that you bring to all your projects. Your voice over commentaries really explain how and why you are doing it that way. It's always a pleasure watching your videos.
@@Glassboxgames This is ridiculous, none of what she is doing or the precision achieved requires any fancy tools, and it has been demonstrated by prior videos with that $300 dewalt saw. The better tools just save time and are more pleasant to use... - Any festool domino usage can be replaced by dowels. Not that it was even necessary here, it was just insurance for the glue-up - Any of the cuts made with the fancy saw could've been made with a $300 table saw, the sawstop is mostly insurance for not injuring yourself like crazy if you mess up. That includes the cross cuts. The festool miter saw is convenient, but it's not like a cross cut sled can't do that. I decided against even buying a miter saw at all for myself since my sled works fine and I lack space, and it's not problem at all, it just means that every now and then I have to roll my table saw around a bit if it's something long. Or worse, clamp up a guide for a $70 dewalt circular saw I got on craigslist a few years ago, omg... The only part that is 'kinda' dubious is the usage of the shaper origin, but if you look closer, nothing really instrumental to the build was done with it, it's not like you can't easily make a 4in circle in 30 other ways, such as a router jig or if you're feeling really poor and basic, just do like me for my last table build, trace lines with an improvised compass made with a string and a pencil, cut them close to the line with a jig saw, and creep on the cuts with sandpaper. Fantastic build overall, really like it
@@Glassboxgames So why did you watch it? It must be tough getting friends when going through life being grumpy and denigrating. I'd hate to have you within 3° of influence.
Easier fitted sheets change is brilliant. Something only a mom would come up with. So obvious when you see it! That bed looks awesome. And loved how you went drill sergeant on your daughter during the glue up! :)
I don't. If you listen to the laugh you can tell that she's already falling into an actual anxiety attack over it, and what the mother responds with is exactly the thing you DON'T say in that situation to anyone you love or even mildly care about if you understand anxiety attacks and anxiety disorders. That's not to say that this event is deliberate psychological abuse, but it's definitely not simply the cute fun moment that the mom hopefully intended it to be and that you interpreted it as. If you ever hear your child laugh like that, STOP and PAY ATTENTION to what's going on, and either calm yourself and them or get one or both of you out of that situation, whichever is most appropriate.
@claws61821 Or.. Or it was one of million situations that children need to face and learn as they grow up in a non cotton candy walled world. These jumps to "traumatic experience" is bizarre. It's almost as if the goal is to brag about being the most wounded. It's especially egregious when you are practically calling her out for emotional abuse. WTH.
@@hansangb You want "jumping to conclusions? How about going from me coming as close to saying "benefit of the doubt" as you can without either using the words or completely dismissing the situation, to you accusing me of accusing her? Or how about the fact that you have the gumption to say all that forces me to the conclusion that you don't know squat about anxiety and how it works in either the short term or the long term?
@@claws61821 This is the reason why Tamar goes to such lengths to shield her children. There's nothing REMOTELY traumatic or "nearly" traumatic or even WHIFF of being traumatic. It was just a glue up *NOTHING* more. Res Ipsa Loquitur But you do you.
Oh... a beautiful bed - I love your daughter's "design genes" and how you turned her vision into reality~ also great that you got everyone happy to help!
Outstanding work and I like the touch that allows for easy removal and fitting of bed sheets. This is what happens when you have the designer actually consider real-life annoyances during the planning process.
Absolutely, my favorite woodworker on youtube! Izzy and others do amazing stuff, but none explain like Tamar or have shown us how to do things without having really expensive equipment. The builds are always super unique too!
I find myself pressing the like button within the first few seconds of your videos. Why? Because you’ve consistently put out so much good material that I’m *that* confident-and *that* quickly-that I’m going to learn something useful and cool. Btw, was that a new Sketchup addition for the designs? If so, awesome. That’s next on my list of things to learn. 😊 Thanks so much for being a great teacher to a woodworking newb. 🙇🏻♂️
@@3x3CustomTamar The good folks at Sketchup thank you for the $300 sale you just helped them close, haha. Looking forward to all the cool projects in your slick new shop!
I tried other "free" things and ended up paying Sketchup $250 for it. It really is the best for planning / designing woodworking projects. Especially cabinets. Get used to the idea that you're going to spend a few hours on your first design and then scream, throw it away and start from scratch all over again. Unless you're really lucky, the first few things you design will be for learning the tool. You'll throw them away and start over again a few times, but each time you start over you'll go faster and faster until you'll finally be able to throw down a good design in about 15 minutes. It's frustrating but worth it.
Beautiful build! As always, I love your tips and tricks. I saw your short on that kick back awhile back, but it was nice to see it in the context of the build and see how even if you’ve done something again and again with no issue - all it takes is once… I love, love, love how involved your kids were, especially that your daughter wanted to help so much! It’s wonderful every time I see a maker involving their kids or grandkids, getting them interested in making-doing-creating. Again, the bed is just beautiful. Bravo on another great build! 😊
Beautiful work as always! I bet she's thrilled with it, I got into woodworking myself as a kid messing around with my dad on various projects. Side note- my old shop teacher's favorite hobby was to go around and yank the string out of hoodies whenever he saw a student wearing one in the shop, he did manage to ingrain in me to be nervous AF to have anything hanging near running tools. In my shop I've always opted to just tie a knot in the ends of the string just outside the eyelets and snip off the excess string instead of removing it. Be safe and keep up the inspirational work, peace! :]
My daughter turns 6 months in 10 days. Love seeing the family involved in the build. I dream of doing this with my children (current and future... wife and I definitely want more). Enjoyed watching this build from start to finish on normal playback speed. You rock! Can't wait for my Router Jig to ship!
Really nice build. You're one of the few RU-vid Woodworkers that I follow that I haven't started watching at 2x speed, in fact I'm often rewinding to watch parts over as you still take your time to show and explain how you accomplished different aspects of the build.
I’m in my late '70’s and started woodworking 8 years ago. I follow your RU-vid channel and I am in awe of your woodworking skill development over that period. Congratulations, you are an inspiration!
I know people liked to see how you could do beautiful work with very low budget tools, but it's so cool to see you in your new shop with all your fun fancy tools! I love it! Can't wait to be at that point as well!
Tamar, you are an amazing mother, woodworker and role model to all. I have nothing but praise for you and your family. Oh, and by the way, that is a beautiful piece of furniture x
From a sheet metal worker to one really skilled woodworker/constructor!!! You should use a corded 9 amp-ish drill to turn your lathe… I’ve burned out a few m18’s .I’m learning a lot from you! !!!!thanks
I need all the equipments to start as i have learned a tone from This channel Keep uploading and Stay blessed... Love ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ from Kashmir Snowing outside and watching this video relaxing.....
Having watched your older videos as compared to today, you’ve really grown as a woodworker and presenter. The move seems to be a good thing to. Shop is looking great.
Great job. We have a lot of projects updating our 60 year old home that we built for the potential. It is always so much fun to work with my daughter in particular and she generally enjoys it as well. Hugs at the end are best.
Thanks for the detail on that table saw jig. I've made large round tenons before with just a pin in a 6x6 clamped to the saw and manually turning the work piece but your design is far better and more accurate. As usual, I admire how meticulate you are in your creations.
First a compliment. Your videos and Stumpy Nubs are the only woodworking videos that I watch at regular speed. Everyone else I watch double speed. If by involving your daughter in the build process you were trying to get her interested in woodworking I think she should have applied the finish. For me at least that is magic time. The most satisfying thing is to see the project go from looking good to great.
Your wood working videos inspire me in ways that other channels don’t. I don’t do any woodworking, but I really enjoyed it at school and would love to take it up when I’m older and can afford it (being in your 20s in London at the moment is rough). I think there’s something about the way you show your thinking, occasional failures, and the fantastic end results which your family get to enjoy. Your passion and expertise are so clear in every video.
Yes to your insightful voice over, tight editing, support for your daughter’s vision, anonymized including her, and gorgeous, precise creations! Would love to see you do a Murphy bed!
In addition to the fabulous work you show us, you included the kickback. Not sure how many caught it as i expected more comments. Thanks for showing it! I had a huge kickback recently and my whole stomach was bruised and was in pain for days. Its a very serious issue. I've been using a table saw for over 50 years and after all those years.....I'm afraid of the damn thing and this has slowed me down for sure. You can never do enough to stay safe.....thanks again.
Your innovations are not only beautiful but so practical too. Some beds make it very difficult to change sheets, but not this one. Good to see the crew getting so involved too. Thanks, Tamar.
Very impressive build. You did a great job. Thanks for sharing the video. I'll go back to watch the part where you glued up the parts of the legs together.
What am awesome bed! Izzie is a genius, but you figured it(table saw router)out without instruction. Awesome job on a one of a kind bad, built with a Mothers love! God bless you! Your daughter will treasure the bed forever. Truly inspiring job all the way! 😀
Glue-up stress is no joke. I just put on my mellow T-Swift playlist, take a deep breath, set the timer, and do my best. Bonus points for having a cup of chamomile tea about 10 minutes before.
Super impressed! Abselutely gorgeous build, clever design, as well as a greate video of the process as allways! Quite envious of your shop, but most of all I salute the end speach you had in your video «7 ways to make a domino» or what it is called. You are a great inspiration!
your videos are very easy to learn , I hope you get 5 million or more subscribers, there are so many other youtubers who don't teach anything and have 20 million ridiculous, people don't give importance to learning.
I've never seen you, maybe I saw a short video years ago but wasn't my jam or something I don't know, but I'm glad I found you now! This bed design is so freaking cool it makes me laugh at my hack jobs I used to practice stuff years ago
Recently started watching your videos because I love how you talk through your challenges and what goes into your choices. Helps a lot as I’m a self-taught hobbyist. But seeing how you are with your kid, and how you didn’t included anything identifiable about her (even with her expressing interest in participating)… I’ve decided youre now my no1 go to creator haha. Kids in online media is a terrifying psychological clusterf**k. And protecting your kid without dismissing them from what you do is so amazing and I have the most respect for you (great video, I’m excited to start my own home makeshift lathe)
So much going on in this build! It was hard to keep up. Glue-up boot camp. Wood block Jenga (again). Jigs. Great rationale for using a colored finish (similar to using a dark stain/wax on Walnut to keep it from fading). Too bad you didn't know, but in my neck of the woods, Poplar is the same price as Red Oak right now. I could have mailed you some. Ha ha. Awesome start-of-the-year build with a great looking finished project. Happy New Year!
I’m just blown away by your knowledge and talent. How did you learn to do such amazing woodworking? Love, love, love the angled side pieces for sheet changing access. It’s getting harder and harder to lift my mattress up and away from bed frame to get the corners on properly. Your narration is mesmerizing.
