Building a Chicken Nesting Box 

I head to the wood shop on a cold February morning to build a chicken nesting box for our new brooder/hen house. Below please find the dimensions I use for this build.The only real measurements to remember is that a nest box needs to be 12x12x12 box and it takes one-two box for every 5 hens.

Chicken Nesting Box:
50" long outside frame
14-1/2" high on Chicken side entrance ( requires 1x12 plus a
3" piece of 1x4 ( ripped to size) board put together or piece
of plywood cut to size
11-1/2"" high on egg gathering door side ( requires 1x12 )
52" 1x12" door
52" 1x4 to attach hinges a little wider board wouldn't hurt
